We are talking about Florida, God's waiting room. In any event, not the case. Dr's here run the routine annuals, review your meds and really don't seem to prescribe supplements. Yes, SUPPLEMENTS! If I recall correctly, Dr. Burke would order over 90 individual blood tests each year, track your progress and help you identify how to fix your results, naturally. Functional medicine. I had never heard of it prior to Dr. Burke and, apparently, it's still unheard of in SW Florida. If you are lucky enough to get to be her patient then you can look forward to being in good hands. I may move back to our home in California permanently just to be her patient. (If I can get in.) She is a treasure.

This practice is a total scam. I mean total!!! I gave them a one star rating because there isn't…read morezero. In fact, after two misdiagnosis (DR. Burke told me I had SIBO and they told me my stool sample was fine.) I could probably sue them for malpractice. And win!! These doctors are laughing all the way to the bank! Office staff isn't knowledgeable, a total ball of continual chaos. They can't even read a basic stool test.(see comments below)certainly you don't get what you pay for and this place isn't cheap. Of course they charge you "fair market value" for whatever you do. A term that is a joke. I'm not buying a washer and dryer. A term they use to make themselves sound important so they can stick it you. It's an articulate way bilking you out of your hard earned money. They happily send other staffers in the last minute for your appointments who aren't qualified and still charge full rate or "fair market value." It's all BS. Dr. Burke told me she was sure I had SIBO. SIBO tested negative, wrong again. They can't even diagnose SIBO. Their sole goal is upsell you right away. So they tell you you have SIBO. It's all such a gimmick. You'll go broke in a nano second if you fall for their high pressure sales and will only worsen your condition because they so incompetently dishonest. It's all about the upsell, not your health. If you are really sick and trying to get better or save your life. Go somewhere else. Do not fall for this scam of a practice. I was very sick with a gastritis attack, miserable with difficulty breathing and back pain. I had an appointment with the nutritionist, crucial to my treatment plan instead ended up with the life coach. So....no help there. I was still charged the fair market value. A total joke. Along the way they kept trying to upsell me on a gut restoration kit. High pressure. After what I just paid, no way. I'm glad I didn't take it because the ingredients in it would have made me worse. This is not a competent practice. No one checked my latest allergy test results to see what allergies I had. My new functional doctor did and that's when I realized I would have been in big trouble if I had taken it. Thank God I listened to my instincts and didn't fall for it. They prescribed hormone replacement therapies without any previous test or bloodwork. Thank God I didn't take that either. I asked them about the dosage level they were prescribing without test results, their response, just take it. Yikes.....I doubt that would hold up in court as competent. Turns out I don't need it either. Being desperate for nutritional help or any kind of help and still in pain I tried to quickly make another appointment with the nutritionist since my last nutrition appointment was with a different staff member with no nutritional experience or knowledge. Their response was, her first available is over a months wait time. I pleaded for help, can't someone see me. Nope! No doctor, no nothing. They didn't offer anything. They were Happy to let me wait it out and dangle in sickness for over another month. I told her I was in pain she said sorry, but that's all the appointments we have. So I asked for a refund. Suddenly everyone and their brother came out of the woodwork. I had received 3 different calls from staff members within 2 days. Where was that help 24 hours earlier when I REALLY needed it??? What a ridiculous awful uncaring place. They couldn't get me the SIBO test I was told they always prescribe. I drove to their office to pick up, they were out. And of course no help. Didn't know when they would be in stock or when they were last ordered. OMG!!!! After a week or so they finally figured out and ordered one to be dropped shipped but couldn't tell me how long it would take or the cost. WOW!!! It was a total cluster F for sure. So unprofessional at Concierge doctors pricing. I had to jump through hoops just for basic SIBO testing information. That was my first encounter with this group and that should have told me everything. I should have asked for a refund right then. Here's the REAL scary part. It wasn't until I found a functional doctor who is totally competent to read my stool test to find out what was wrong with me. True health can't read a basic stool test. UNBELIEVABLE!!! I was told if there was anything wrong or abnormal they would call me to review. They didn't. Of course. Now I know why. This practice is a scam. If you are really sick do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. If a doctor can't read a basic stool sample you should probably not pay them exorbitant fees, like True health charges. Certainly don't expect competent service or health care. Trust me, you won't get it!!!!! I have received a joke of a refund and yet the bills keep coming in. It's churn and burn, baby. I'm shocked they are still in business. Save yourself and seek medical attention elsewhere. Just about anywhere will be better. Trust me!!!

I'm in shock reading the other reviews, and feel the need to respond. I only began seeing Dr…read more Holthouse after the practice changed to a membership structure. I wasn't around for the transition, so perhaps that awkwardness accounts for some of the reviews. Dr. Holthouse and his colleague, Dr. Burke, practice Functional or Integrative Medicine. It's a holistic approach to treatment in the true sense of the word. It encompasses all standard, allopathic methods that every other primary care doctor uses. It also includes other modalities and approaches to diagnosis and treatment that most physicians know nothing about. Most important, rather than just treating symptoms that often disguise underlying problems, functional medicine seeks causality when treating a patient. So each symptom is looked at as it relates to everything else, and the doctor steps back behind each symptom to find real, underlying causes. It is the most effective method of treatment I have ever experienced. I went to the office with a variety of symptoms and complaints, and over the course of a year, I have felt that I have real partners in trying to address and help my issues. We aren't completely there yet, but we have identified several issues that were missed by other doctors. Why? Because most doctors don't take the time and do the extremely thorough testing and exams that Dr. Holthouse does. I have spent 45 minutes to an hour with him at a regular appointment, just because I needed that much time and effort. I also have the ongoing, often weekly support of a health coach to help me establish goals, track progress and stay in touch between visits. I have had tests that no other primary care doctor has ordered, and those tests have identified issues that we have taken positive steps to correct. Because insurance doesn't cover many of these tests, and because Dr. Holthouse and the staff take so much care with their patients, the membership fee makes it possible for them to practice medicine with the care and time investment that delivers real results. It is expensive, and wouldn't be possible for everyone to afford. Sometimes I wonder if it will continue to be possible for me. But I hope it will, and I'll do everything I can to keep this in the budget, because I have never before had such excellent medical care. I also know from speaking to Dr. Holthouse that the membership structure is one approach they decided to try, because they needed to find a way to make a sustainable business out of the kind of medicine they want to practice: effective, comprehensive medicine that your insurance company is not going to come close to covering in its entirety. Their time and expertise IS worth something, and they can't be expected to give 10 times the service for the tiny payments insurance companies make after the average doctor spends 2 minutes with you. As to rudeness, I can only assume that whoever was rude when these reviews were written is now gone, because I have never been treated with anything but kindness, courtesy and respect by anyone at this practice. In all, yes, Dr. Holthouse's practice is expensive, and unconventional in its approach. But Dr. Holthouse and the staff are dedicated, knowledgeable, kind, compassionate and highly effective at what they do. It really comes down to how much you can afford to pay for your healthcare and how much you value what they have to offer. I value it a lot, and am willing to do all I can to continue to enjoy its benefits.

On a repeat visit, she slapped her knee with pride and said she thought she had found the diagnosis. It was awful. Disfiguring, treatable but not curable. I was stunned. At home I found a website with a presentation on the disease complete with photos. I tried to tell her I didn't look like those photos. She had prescribed a medication, after that totally ghosted me. I messaged her through the portal to change the medication from cream to ointment but got no response. Eventually I showed up at her office and was told she wasn't in and they didn't know when she would be back. I asked if another doctor there would make the minor change to the prescription and was declined. I was completely on my own. Since the diagnosis she handed me was gynecological, I procured my own referral to a gynecologist who thankfully tested and ruled out Dr Duncan's diagnosis. I'm still in disbelief that she saddled me with such an awful diagnosis then turned her back on me. I took it as cowardice. She came up with something she couldn't handle and instead of suggesting a specialist, she dropped me without explanation. I felt betrayed.

For example, I've struggled with generalized anxiety disorder and depression for years. My last doc wanted to give me whatever drug they were pushing, ignored the debilitating side effects that I reported, insisting that I continue taking this drug for several more weeks before they would consider changing it. In fact, when I persisted in requesting something else, or something I could take just as needed, my former doc *yelled* at me in the exam room. The side effects of that medication were intolerable, so I stopped taking it and just struggled along for several more years. Finally our insurance changed, and the hubs found Dr. Grove... At my first visit I literally cried in her office, just because she heard me, heard what I was saying (Dr's often hear what they think, not what is actually being said), understood my aversion to medications, and didn't judge me for not wanting to take a daily pill. She actually worked with me as an individual to create a plan that took my quirks into account. I never feel rushed in our appointments either, which is another common Dr. gripe that I have- they want to get you in the exam room, take the vitals, write a Rx and/or schedule tests and get you out asap. Not so with Dr. Grove, she listens, asks questions, and learns about her patients to give the best care. I'll only go to Dr. Grove for the rest of my life, if at all possible. Highly recommend!!

Arrived and was told that I was later than 15 minutes from my scheduled time and would need to get a new appointment. Mind you I was the only patient in the office lobby. Not a single other person waiting in the building. Needless to say this was infuriating. After being told several times this was their policy, I scrapped this place entirely and will not go back. They clearly don't have and don't need new patients. My advice, go elsewhere.

The girls in the office are unprofessional and use the Hippa law to make everything difficult. I had another Doctor tell me that any Doctor that won't get on the phone to talk to his own patient is not a Doctor anyone should have. I missed my third appt. because my kidney and bladder got infected and I was admitted back into the hospital after having life saving surgery and Dr. Mills and his staff dropped me and left me with no family practitioner and no Doctor's care to come home to and dropped me with a 30 inch incision down the middle of my body and after having chunks of glue taken out of my veins. I'm including pics of the current state I was in while dropped by this horrible medical group. Oh and I forgot to mention that before leaving to have surgery one of his staff members said when I got back I would be drug tested after my life saving surgery as if I'm making all this up. Do not use Dr. Steven Mills who will leave you with no medical treatment and having to search for another Doctor when you look how I did below in these pics.
