Dr. Wagner operated on both my eyes, so I owe him my sight. Good human being and great bedside manner to boot. Highly recommended.

Well this is the second visit that I've brought my wife too forgot to check in for the first…read moreconsultation with Dr Witten. During the first visit he is very thorough in explaining how everything is done and if he thinks your a candidate for the procedure. Well the procedure took just over 22 min for both eyes longer for the right eye Dr W put in a different lens(they call it a rain drop don't know why it's not a drop it's a lens with your prescription in it) in this eye. She came home rested for a few hours eat dinner did her drops now back for some rest. She has to return tomorrow to have the contacts removed. I was able to watch ch the whole procedure being done they have a monitor hung up on the wall that is really to far away it needs to be moved closer to the door there is a small wall that the monitor will fit perfectly on for people to get a better view.

Naturally, about 15 years later, I needed another correction and returned to Dr. Whitten for a consultation. During that visit, he recommended monovision, given my age at the time (late 40s). He explained that this approach would allow me to balance both near- and far-sighted vision without needing reading glasses, which many people begin using in their 50s. However, after the procedure I immediately noticed difficulty seeing clearly. Over the following year, I continued to struggle with my vision--particularly problematic in my work as a professional photographer--and sought evaluations from multiple optometrists and ophthalmologists. I then discovered that the LASIK procedure had been performed on the wrong eye. When I returned to see Dr. Whitten, I learned that neither he nor his staff had ever determined my dominant eye prior to surgery. In fact, my old patient notes from 2020 confirm that no such test was performed. Despite this, no apology was offered for the mistake. During that visit, I was seen by John Rogers, a technician and former Senior Surgical Consultant at TLC Vision. His background includes attending Computer Tech of Pittsburgh, but he has no formal education or degree in optometry or ophthalmology. He suggested inappropriate options such as cataract surgery (for which I am not a candidate) and during the same visit Dr. Whitten suggested undergoing yet another LASIK procedure (a third) to correct the issue or resorting to contact lenses--the very reason I had LASIK in the first place. This experience left me with the strong impression that the practice prioritizes business and profit over genuine patient care and vision correction. I regret not doing more thorough research before returning for a second procedure, as I have since learned of multiple malpractice lawsuits filed against Dr. Whitten, including Jamie Domeier vs. Mark Whitten, David Cantalupo vs. Mark Whitten, and Liesl Nichols vs. Mark Whitten. I also couldn't help but notice the promotional posters displayed across his offices, highlighting his LASIK surgery on Tiger Woods in 1999 as a marketing tool to brand himself as a "celebrity" doctor. Unfortunately, beyond the image, his apparent lack of attention and care for patients has led to a troubling number of lawsuits.

It hasn't even been 24 hours yet and my vision is so clear. I'm experiencing very minimal discomfort and I feel fully ready to take on the world. Thank you! The place is clean, too, and the process is quick! Be sure to ask about additional discounts when you go in for your consultation!

What's concerning is that this only happened after I specifically asked them to review my scans again. Had I not pushed for a second review, I genuinely worry they may have proceeded with surgery despite the risks. I also requested a direct explanation from the doctor and never received one. Instead, I had to repeatedly call the office just to get basic answers and speak with someone knowledgeable. My impression is that the process felt far more focused on moving patients through surgery than on patient safety and communication. I would strongly encourage anyone considering a procedure here to ask detailed questions, seek a second opinion, and carefully review whether they are truly a good candidate before moving forward. I also felt the recovery expectations were presented in a way that understated how difficult and lengthy recovery can actually be.

I was in such pain and needed urgent care. I loved how they were able to fit me in the next day which was rest because other offices were going to make me wait at least 2 weeks! The office itself is located in Tyson's corner nearby the petsmart (aka the hub of Tyson's). It is pretty easy to get to. They are located in a huge office space. They are on the first level, locating them was a breeze. They also provide plenty of free parking! The staff was great. They made me feel a lot less nervous about the whole experience and were able to get me in very quickly. The whole experience took about a hour only which was fantastic! Dr. Buttross was a delight to say the least. The whole time when she was fixing my infected eye she talked to me and was extremely friendly and accommodating to all my questions. I would recommend anyone who is in need of a good eye doctor to visit Dr. Buttross!

When I responded that I didn't know, but could check my records to find out, she remarked that most patients know their eye pressure offhand (she even stated that some can touch their eyes and tell her what their eye pressure is). I told her I found that to be unbelievable (I have worn glasses for over four decades and have never been asked these kinds of questions or treated in this rude manner). When I became upset due to the patronizing and condescending way I was being treated, the nurse asked me if I was receiving mental health treatment. Completely inappropriate, unprofessional, and hostile behavior. I would not recommend this practice.

Today I went in for my annual appointment and 90 minutes later I still hadn't been seen by the doctor. I said something to the checkout desk and was told that the doctor had an emergency and that I would be seen next. This is at 4:30pm and I arrived at 2:50pm for a 3:00pm appointment. At 4:30pm even though I had been told I was next there were about eight other patients that had been waiting at least as long as I had and the woman lied. Someone else was called into the exam room. I had had it and with vision blurred I told the office staff that I was leaving and would never return. All of a sudden an office manager came out to listen to me and I made sure he knew that for two days I had been receiving texts from their practice making sure I was going to be on time and filling out forms online so I could make things speedier at my appointment and even though the office had known for hours that the doctor had an emergency not a single staff member came into the waiting room to let us know and give us the option of rescheduling or approximately how long the wait would be. I'll be 65 at the end of the year and work a full-time job. Had to take time off work and so did my sister to drive me to the appointment. Most of the waiting room was filled with folks much older than me with their care takers. The Retina Group of Washington in Fairfax Va can care less about their patients and their patients' time. Worse, as I was storming out, the woman who checked me in said "let me see if I can get you a tech" and I was like I had all the tests done already and she said "well the tech can tell you whether or not your tests showed anything". I was like what!!!!!! You would think that if Dr. Fein was taking care of an emergency that maybe they can come up with a backup plan like techs decide if a someone really needs wait to see the doctor today and which patients can be rescheduled to meet with Dr. Fein at a future date because the tests look fine. I am certain this isn't the only emergency that has happened with the docs that are part of this practice. I will be finding a new retina specialist and this time I will be reading the reviews first.
