Most unprofessional doctor I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. I had an appointment set over a month in advance. Traveled by train from the suburbs to my appointment only to find out he was on vacation. I've been experiencing increasing pressure on the left side of my face and constant congestion, only on the one side. My ear get clogged up and I can't hear properly. He looks up my nose and tells me there is no reason for these things to be happening... that's it. So, what, it's just my imagination? He over-books and takes Medicaid, so what happens when we put two and two together? We have a doctor who is looking only for the payout. He doesn't seem to care at all about people, only the profit he can make off of them. read more

I did not have a good experience with this doctor. I was referred after an ER visit due to a bad sinus infection post oral surgery. I scheduled an appointment 2 weeks after the ER because I could tell the sinus infection was still lingering. I brought the CD of the CT scan to the appointment with me that I had done in the ER. I didn't wait but I also had the first appointment of the day. He brought me into a room and I told him what was happening. I also mentioned that I had the scan 2 weeks ago, and I was given antibiotics, and that a lot of my symptoms were gone or improving. He looked at the CT and started talking about how more of my teeth looked infected in the scan. I knew this was not the case bc I went to my oral surgeon prior and had other scans which did not show signs of infection. He then had me look at the scans and said "what do you think?" I was stumped at that question because I am not a doctor and should not be consulted. He kept mentioning how bad the scan was and that he wanted to treat me medically aggressively. I told him that the scan was from 2 weeks ago and that I was on meds and getting better, and he was like oh ok. He still gave me more meds for the infection which did end up helping. He then started feeling my neck and got concerned because he felt a lump on my right side. He was really getting in there too because he wasn't sure if it was actually there and had me feel for it as well even though I felt nothing. He scheduled an ultrasound of the neck which came back to be normal, thankfully, but when he called to tell me he forgot that he was the one who felt something not me. He kept asking me questions about my neck as if I were the one to bring it up to him Overall, he seemed a little distracted, did not communicate well, and made me take an expensive test for nothing. I am Surprised about the negative reviews. Dr. Nissan is the nicest physician I ever had. I went in for a fractured nose. He was very patient and listened for everything I had to say and answered every question I had. Besides that he took the time to check for other problems, (deviated septum, hearing problems and tests). I had a surgery 6/5/2015 everything went as planned. Its been a week and a half after my surgery and I can breath way better than I did my whole life. The swelling is going away day by day and my breathing gets better every day. IMPORTANT I have been to his office many times. Sometimes the wait time is really short and sometimes long. But in my opinion this is because he really takes time with his patients. Just don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask as many question as you can. I always leave his office very satisfied. read more

I finally went into a doctor who was a preferred provider with my insurance after about 2 years of increasing tinnitus symptoms, with the intention of getting a real doctor's information about what could be causing my ears to continue to ring, rather than just cross referencing all the information the internet has to offer. I'm always nervous about going to doctors since I've moved to Chicago because I don't know what to expect, just picking a name off a list with a nearby address. I have been planning on going to Sensaphonics for custom made earplugs (I have been in notably loud environments, and have lived within band rehearsal spaces etc, something I emphasized to Dr. Nissan that I regretted, but am thoroughly willing to not do again). But on top of this, my ears are very sensitive to harsh noises and certain frequencies recently, so I wasn't sure if I needed to get an official doctor's opinion on the subject of ears. Hence the visit. I came in with a list of events and concerns that I've had over the years, emphasizing that certain noise-situations were things that I did two years ago without thought, but that now either seem too loud and/or cause the ringing to increase, and that the latest event was a flight on a smallish plane that caused intense ringing, and most recently I pulled my neck and my ears are also ringing as much as just after the flight. He looked in my ears with the thing doctors normally look in ears with, except it felt notably too far inside my ears and very painful. I didn't say anything about it at the time and he said to get a hearing test in the next room, which as I was waiting for I couldn't get over how harshly the very inside of my ears were in pain. I went to the front desk and told the (very nice) front desk people that I don't think I can do the hearing test today and Dr. Nissan told me I needed to see a psychiatrist and that loud noises shouldn't cause anything because I don't work in a factory. Literally. I'd told him I just wanted advice on what I should do to make sure the tinnitus doesn't progress. I called the next day because deep within my ears was very painful still. He said it was anxiety. Now, the third day after the visit my ears are extremely painful (and ringing but I wish I just had that now). I am very upset that I ever went to see a doctor on account of this whole situation. read more

I hate to give anyone such a negative review but I did not have a good experience with either of my visits to Dr. Nissan. Visit One - I waited 20 minutes to get in to see the DR after some confusion about whether I was or was not on their schedule (I was). Once I saw the doctor I tried to explain to him that I had something wrong with my nose and sinuses and was often experiencing sinus pressure and pain. I get sinus headaches that can be debilitating at times. He basically ignored everything I said and prescribed me Zantac to treat my heartburn and GERD (??). I have had heartburn ONCE in my life, about 15 years ago. I didn't get the impression he listened to me, he acted like he knew what was wrong with me and didn't seem to hear my symptoms, he kept making them up... "oh so do you wake up in the middle of the night coughing"? Well sometimes yes because my nose is draining... but then he acted as if this was the reason I was there to see him and prescribed my "severe cough". I never said I had a severe cough? I was confused but took the medication because he's the doctor and if he thinks this is what's wrong, I'll try it. Meanwhile I continue to get sicker, end up with a head cold that will not go away for weeks while I wait for my followup appointment. I take the Zantac and experience no remedy of my condition. Instead my nose is now running almost constantly and I'm going through boxes of tissues at home, work, in the car, everywhere. I wait the 4 weeks for my follow up appointment to explain that his prescription didn't work. Visit Two - I wait very little time to get in and see the doctor (this time I was on the schedule for real). He says "hello nice to meet you" and I explain this is a follow up visit which is when he looks at my chart and says "oh how is your chronic cough?" Well I don't have a chronic cough so I try to explain that he prescribed me Zantac and it really isn't helping me. I explain about my constantly running nose, the headaches continue and the head cold. He is definitely not listening to me now because he keeps talking about my cough. When I try to explain my REAL symptoms he said to me "if you think you're nose is running now, just wait" and gives me a b&w photo copy of NeilMed NasoGel for Dry Noses and tells me to take this. I explained that my nose isn't dry, I count up the boxes of tissues but he's not listening at this point. It's like anything I say isn't processing because instead he wants me to take a huge barrage of x-rays, CT scans, tests, etc and writes all over the "prescriptions" words like "chronic cough", "GERD Coughing." I DO NOT HAVE A COUGH but he is not listening at all. He shuffles me out the door and is onto the next patient. While I wait at the window for his staff they are telling me these tests are going to need to be approved by my insurance because they are pretty expensive. At this point I've had enough. I'm getting a second opinion. Dr. Nissan seemed like a nice man but he also seemed hellbent on deciding what symptoms I was experiencing and what was wrong with me without even listening to me. I'm sorry but I will not go back here and I would not recommend him as any kind of diagnostician. read more

I have a lot of respect for Dr. Nissan - he performed my tonsillectomy well and two weeks after the surgery the healing is going as expected. he takes time to explain the important things and is to the point. I am happy i switched to this doctor from my previous doctor (dr. jay chauhan) who typically rambles on an on about unimportant things. Dr. Nissan is personable and has a good heart (he waived the charge for my follow up visit). Would recommend him to anyone! read more

If i could give Dr. Nissan zero stars I would. I showed up to his office at my schedule time. I had somewhere to be later in the day, and did not see him until 45 minutes after my scheduled appointment, and the office was empty. I wanted my ears cleaned because I thought I had a lot of wax build-up, so all he did was look at my ears and mouth, and scrapped out a little wax, not really cleaned them. I was with him for no more than 10 minutes and was charges $270 to my insurance, and since my deductible wasn't met yet, I have to pay $180 out of my pocket for nothing. Then he wanted to set up another appointment for me to have a hearing test done, and waste more money. I canceled that appointment once I saw my bill. It's not worth it to go to this guy, unless you want to get ripped off and taken advantage of because you have insurance. I may have payed less without insurance. read more

Dr. Nissan is the nicest man and he really takes his time to listen and ask questions. There's absolutely no feeling of being rushed -- I can't remember the last time a doctor spent so much time with me (and my issue was pretty basic). On the flip side, I did end up waiting over 30 minutes, but I have to say it was actually worth it - so just make sure you bring something to read - or try making an appointment earlier in the day. Dr. Nissan was very thorough (checking my ears and throat , even though I was there with a nose issue - he even cleaned out my ears, and when it hurt a little he kept apologizing - like he really cared that it felt uncomfortable, and was sorry for the discomfort). When he heard that I'd had a previous mild anaphylactic response to a certain chemical he prescribed an epi-pen, even though that wasn't at all related to what I originally went in for. Dr. Nissan is a genuinely caring and thoughtful doctor - one of the best I've seen in recent memory. read more

The worst dr I have encountered in my trips to Swedish as far as wait time. This is my 2nd visit and I have waited this time for one and half hour. The first time was about 2 hours. There have been six people come in since I arrived that have been called in. read more

Dr. Nissan is a very competant and extremely nice physician. I went to him with dryness in my nose. Since I work in a nursing home, Dr. Nissan immediately gave me some bactroban ointment for my nose in case it was MRSA and asked to see me in two weeks. During my visit he did a full exam of my ear nose and throat. He also cleaned out my ears for me and said it may hurt a little bit. It hurt for a split second but I felt much better after he pulled out a huge chunk of wax. :) We also had a very pleasant conversation and he made me feel very much at ease. In reading the other reviews I was skeptical of going there, but my impression is, perhaps these other unhappy people had some other issues going on. My expereince with Dr, Nissan was nothing but pleasant and he solved my issues immediaely. I would only go to him for Ear, Nose and Throat issues. I really liked his bedside manner.
