I told the tech that I would be flying the week after my surgery and she said that was fine and we set up all my appointments. I told a couple of my friends and they said that I can't fly that soon after so I called Frantz and the woman who answered also said I can't fly that soon. She said someone would call me back to schedule my surgery. I did not receive a call back so I called over the weekend and left a message letting them know no one had called me back. Someone did call on Monday morning but I missed their call. I quickly called back and the person who called was unavailable and would call me back. I did not get a call back. I called and cancelled and told the woman all the issues I had and how I didn't feel comfortable having surgery at a facility that doesn't return your calls and that gives incorrect information and she said "Ok, we will cancel everything. Call back if you change your mind." HA! I don't think so.

The office was extremely crowded and did not feel efficient or organized. Machines all over the place even in corners behind privacy screens. I felt very uncomfortable about all the mess. I believe I didn't listen to his initial timeframe. My follow-up visit was significantly more efficient than my initial visit. This practice operates on a one-person basis. I am astounded by the doctor's ability to maintain order and efficiency. The staff in the back of the practice exhibits a high level of professionalism, while I cannot say the same about the staff in the front.

I went in for my eye checkup, and Dr. Byerly said it was time. There are many different surgeries for cataracts. I chose to pay extra for my new lenses to cure most of my eyesight issues. During the surgery, I was alert but sedated. I received specific instructions from Dr. Byerly, which I could obey. They do one eye and then schedule you for the other eye. I had my left eye done first. I could tell a difference, but it was not what I expected. When the right eye was completed, everything changed, and it kept changing. I could see tiny items I hadn't seen in years without my readers. My vision will be almost perfect as my brain adjusts to the new lenses in my eye. Amazing.

He was very descriptive of how the procedure was going to go at the pre-op appointment and then went back over it again on the day of surgery. He gave me his phone number for any questions I may have and was actually pretty responsive. The eye drops that were prescribed at my normal pharmacy were put on back order, so his staff had them sent to a pharmacy they knew had it. Minutes after the surgery, I cried because I could actually read the road signs! I haven't been able to do that without glasses or contacts since I was 10. My post-op appointment today was amazing! My results are phenomenal and I couldn't have asked for better! I am so so happy. Dr. Robin and his staff literally just made my quality of life so much better. Forever grateful!

In addition to my growing cataract problem, my vision had steadily declined over 45 years periodically requiring stronger and stronger lenses. (Suddenly, at age 40, I couldn't read a newspaper.) While I don't recall who suggested Fisher Eye, it was only good luck that I wound up with Dr. Vaziri who suggested that my cataract removal could include a lens replacement that would eliminate my having to wear any glasses at all. Apparently, a fairly recent development in artificial lenses that would focus far, near, and in between was becoming routine and would work for me, even at my ripe old age of 85. Wow, I'm now, completely glasses free with 20/20 vision! Thank you, Dr. Vaziri. The procedure is not inexpensive, but, in my estimation worth it. No hassle, no pain, only gain.
