I am forever thankful for Dr.Poliakin and her staff- I feel so fortunate they were there (and…read morebelieved me) in my time of need. Cliffnotes version: -Go to ER at 1am for abdominal pain. Ultrasound confirms gallstones and liver enzymes are slightly elevated. They send me home with a referral to follow up with a general surgeon and painkillers. - Next day: call referral for general surgeon (Dr.Andrew Luckey) who doesn't see outpatient so was a bit confused- he only sees you if you had surgery in the hospital. The next opening they had was in a week but they were going to try and squeeze me in. They did call me back and were able to get me an appt however I was already on the way back to the ER because I didn't feel I could make it a week. -ER round 2- get a dragon of a NP who says they aren't going to admit me for surgery, tells me that's not what I want nor are they going to rerun my labs since I was just there- best she could do is order an CT so I said okay and sat down.Hours go by and it becomes clear to me even with a CT I'm not going to get help here and my only shot at getting support was the surgery referral. Called Dr. Poliakin's office back, tell them the situation, they told me to come over and they will fit me in. Met Dr. Poliakin, she educated me very clearly about what was likely going on, laid out all the options includingthe option to get on her surgery schedule that day. I was terrified but I trusted her completely after meeting her and felt safe in her care. She called the ER and told them to rerun my labs and admit me and thank goodness she did. The labs were 5x what they were and I was on my way to developing jaundice. Got admitted and things moved quite quickly after that. As someone who's never had surgery (aside from dental) in her life, I was absolutely terrified going into this and some tears were shed. While I was in pre-op I got to meet my OR Nurse, anesthesiologist and see Dr. Poliakin again to talk about the developments from the blood work. I had an all female team which felt pretty badass . Dr. Poliakin again was super upfront, educational, straight forward, and compassionate. I knew going into this there was no one else's care I'd rather have been in and went into that OR more relaxed than I ever would have expected possible from myself. I'm now five days post surgery, doing well and I shutter to think what could've happened if it wasn't for Dr. Poliakin and her staff. I wish there were words to convey how thankful I am but thank you just doesn't really cut it. If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing general surgery and you're reading this review trying to find some reassurance- just know you're in the best hands and she will take amazing care of you.

Last year I received my Medicare along with a supplement plan so I was happy to find out that this procedure (which is not cosmetic) would be covered. From the time I entered the facility I was greeted very warmly by the front desk and also the administrator. I met with the doctor and he assured me this procedure could be done in office without an outside facility. He also reassured me that this procedure would be paid for by my Medicare and supplement plan. What I like about this place is the surgeries are performed st this facility as he has his operating rooms inside. Dr Kryger was fantastic when I had the procedure in the operating room. I was awake and given a local all of the nurses and the doctor were talking in the operating room and having a great time and I believe it was to calm me down. As they were going through the procedure they asked me what I wanted to name my lipoma when it was removed! Lol. It took a bit to get it all but and he did a fantastic job. I was pain free as well after!! I highly recommend this place if you need a plastic surgery procedure. The operating nurses and the staff and insurance biller and especially the doctor were top notch. This is the place to go thank you Dr Kryger you gave me my life back Kerri Standing

Something happened during my surgery. I woke up in ICU with a tube down my throat. Not the usual post op care for a hysterectomy. Though I was on strong pain medications, I asked why I was in ICU. The answers were vague. I was hospitalized for ten days and following my discharge I asked Dr. Hakim why I was in ICU. Her reply was blatantly untruthful. She told me she wanted me to have the best of care, so she put me in ICU. Doctors do not have the option to simply place a patient in ICU without a definite medical need. But I was just glad to be cancer free, so I didn't press the issue. Fast forward to September, 2023. One morning my belly swelled up like a balloon and I was in terrible discomfort. I went to the Emergency Room. After some tests, the doctor came into the little room and told me my intestines were totally blocked. I needed immediate surgery. Without it "You're in trouble. You're in bad shape. We have to operate." After the emergency surgery, the surgeon told me it was a long and difficult operation. He had to scrape scar tissue off my intestines. He couldn't promise me the scar tissue wouldn't return. I asked if this was due to my prior cancer surgery. He told me "It's very likely." The recovery was long and the post operative swelling didn't go down. Instead, it became worse as the weeks and months passed. Finally, following a C Scan, I was told that having two large surgical incisions in virtually the same place on my abdomen, in such a short time, thinned out my abdominal wall and it will no longer support my intestinal organs. Further, I was told this is a permanent condition. There are no longer any abdominal muscles that could be strengthened. The ugly truth is I am now burdened and disabled with a large, protruding belly which causes considerable discomfort. I struggle each day with constipation and the possibility that the scar tissue will return is a threat I must live with or possibly one day die with. Before Dr. Hakim I was a slender woman with a flat stomach. I was fit and healthy. Today, every day, I just get through the heavy discomfort of my ruined abdominal wall. My intestines and other organs have minimal support. What happened to me Dr. Hakim?

They were very professional, very helpful, informative and pleasant. They were also a pleasure to briefly chat with. 2) Dr. Aimaq was SHARP, yet APPROACHABLE. Where my primary care physician was unsure, Dr. Aimaq was fully confident and fully knowledgeable. My time with Dr. Aimaq was brief, only because he's that sharp, experienced and knowledgeable. He urged me to ask all the questions I may have, since I was paying out of pocket for my consultation. I asked, and he confidently answered my few questions. He gave me full confidence with my own decisions regarding how to proceed. I will not be moving forward with the procedure I thought I needed, because Dr. Aimaq was so informative, that he made me realize that it was not necessary. FIVE STARS!

My experience with the surgery coordinator, Cecilia Contreras, was very disappointing…read more I contacted the office after receiving approval for my second inguinal hernia surgery authorization to understand the next steps in the process. When I originally met with the office, I was told that if I was busy, I could schedule the surgery later and that I had flexibility regarding the timing. I also experienced difficulty reaching Cecilia directly. On multiple occasions when I called the office, she was unavailable, which made it challenging to get timely information and assistance regarding my care. For that reason, I was surprised by the way I was treated during my recent phone call. Instead of receiving guidance and support, I felt blamed for not scheduling the surgery sooner. Patients may have personal, family, work, financial, or health-related reasons for postponing a procedure, and I felt those circumstances were not taken into consideration. What concerned me most was the tone of the conversation. I felt that Cecilia Contreras was rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and unnecessarily confrontational. As someone whose primary language is not English, I was doing my best to communicate and understand the process. Rather than helping clarify the situation, the conversation left me feeling uncomfortable, pressured, and discouraged from asking questions. I was told that if I planned to continue with the office, I needed to schedule the surgery, and if not, I should say so immediately. This felt more like pressure than patient care, especially considering that I had previously been told I could schedule the procedure when my circumstances allowed. Communication was often incomplete. For example, when my follow-up appointment was scheduled, I was given the date but not the time and had to ask for it separately. The call also ended abruptly without the level of courtesy and professionalism that patients should expect from a medical office. Scheduling surgery is a significant medical decision, and patients deserve to be treated with respect, professionalism, and understanding. Unfortunately, this interaction caused me to lose confidence in moving forward with this office, and I have decided to seek care elsewhere. I hope the clinic reviews how patients are treated and improves communication with future patients.

HOWEVER- many people know his work, hence his many patients, and he spends as much time with his patients as the patient needs, nothing is ever rushed. Given this, you will wait a long time at your appointments to see the Dr. I rarely get out of my appointments in less than 1.5 hours, even for a very simple checkup. As in, I'm usually only actually talking to the doctor almost an hour or more after the time of my appointment. If this is a dealbreaker for you, consider another doctor. If you can block out 2 hours for an appointment, he will be the best thing that's ever happened to you. When I came to Apex in July of 2025, I had been suffering a chronically torn ATFL, CTFL and peroneal tendon since March 2024 and was in physical therapy for nearly a year with no consistent improvement whatsoever in my pain or function. The MRI also showed I had an uncommon extra tendon (Peroneus Quartus). Dr. Sherick immediately recognized the need for surgery and explained his tendon and ligament repair processes and why the operation was necessary, and should have been done much earlier. He also explained the need to remove the extra tendon and that it's presence made me susceptible to the initial injury and future reinjury. He gave me time to go over it with my parents and even get a second opinion. We ultimately decided to have him do the operation and scheduled the surgery for August 2025. He explained a couple optional add on packages. My family chose the ice machine and leg pillow, which ended up being very helpful in the early healing process, but not the expensive plasma treatment, which he respected. My surgery went well, and he did a great job monitoring me throughout the healing process. After surgery and post op appointments he or one of his wonderful staff would always call my parents (who I don't live with, but use their insurance) and update them, which we all appreciated so much. I started physical therapy around 2 months post-op when he deemed I was ready, and physical therapists were immediately impressed with the strength of my foot only 2 months post op- after a highly complex multiple injury repair surgery. To this day my foot has been healing very well, the scarring is minimal, and the strength and stability is BETTER than my non operated on foot. Besides the surgery going without a hitch, the doctor and his team are just incredible to work with. Conversations with them always make my day a little better, and they always dispel my anxiety about anything with patience and kindness. Due to me moving away and not having a car, Dr. Sherick was kind enough to give me the contact of a doctor he was mentored by in my new city so I can have the same standard of care if I can't make it to the office for a checkup, which I endlessly appreciate and shows he truly cares about his patients. Thank you guys for all you do
