Prior to hemorrhoid treatment, he discussed with me all my options, and made sure that I was comfortable with my decision. I never felt rushed or neglected; I felt cared for. After Dr. Rosenfeld suggested a zero pain treatment I insisted on surgery, hemorrhoidectomy. These internal and external hemorrhoids had troubled me for at least a decade and got so bad I couldn't stand or walk any real distance without be becoming prolapse. I wanted them gone! I was referred to Dr. Rosenfeld from a colon specialist I desperately came across on tiktok. She suggested I see Dr. Rosenfeld and told me she completely trusts him and that I should get an exam done by him. We live in Los Angeles, so it was quite a drive to see him in Thousand Oaks but I was desperate for peace of mind regarding the issue I was experiencing. I'm so happy I visited him. He's so kind, informative, patient and funny. His humor makes the exam experience feel less awkward and although the exam wasn't comfortable, it wasn't painful at all (which is exactly how he described the experience would be like). OK, so this review is for those of us that were terrified to have this kind of doctoring done. If you weren't terrified of having this kind of doctoring done, you just need to read this sentence, Dr. Rosenfeld is absolutely amazing, as is his staff (i've seen multiple GI doctors prior btw) so just go here. OK now that they're gone... For those of us that were terrified to go... The office is easy to find and there's plenty of parking. The girls that were at the front are absolutely lovely. They are kind and warm and make you feel calm to be there. There was no long wait everything went right on time. I have a multitude of problems that I have yet to be able to solve, which led me to see Doctor Rosenfeld. I have been living with these problems for over a year because I was afraid to go to the doctor for this. He spent a lot of time with me, helped me feel comfortable about what we were going to do, gave me options, gave me the pros and cons of each option, and allowed me to choose what I wanted to do. I chose to do an in office treatment that was quick and painless... And it involved a needle and I'm telling you again, it is quick and painless. There is literally nothing to be afraid of. After I had my treatment done he came back in and we talked about my other problems which involve my bowels and basic digestion problems that no one's been able to solve and he came up with a diagnosis. I am trying a new approach and hoping that this works. Ah...this is a sensitive subject for some.. BUTT, here's the truth! Schedule your colonoscopies and pay attention to your poops! Dr. Rosenfeld is the BEST out there! Total respect and support and makes you feel seen, heard and cared for. I've had two colonoscopies with him this past year and although it's not "fun" to prep or have the procedure, I feel so comfortable with him. His office staff is amazing and patient, especially Lindsey when I call a million times to ask her questions. Aspen Surgery Center is so fab. All of the staff, nurses and facility are amazing. I never thought I would have a problem that needed a proctologist, butt after I injured my back and had to take pain killers I suffered severe constipation. Earlier this year I had my scheduled Colonoscopy, my doctor informed me I should really take care of some verify serious internal hemorrhoids. I knew I had them, I had just postponed any treatment for fear of what was expected. He had recommended a couple doctors, and I chose one in Thousand Oaks. Making an appointment with Dr. Rosenfeld could not have been a better decision. He and his staff were always helpful, explained everything and answered any questions I had, putting all my misconceptions and fears at ease. There was no sugar-coating of what was wrong and what was needed to treat my condition. The doctor was very clear and explained the first treatment and likelihood of success (noting the condition of my hemorrhoids which were 3's maybe a 4's). Eventually, surgery was deemed necessary. The Doctor and his office were very clear on what to expect and again mapped out honestly what I would be going through in recovery. It was painful, without a doubt and recovery took a couple weeks, but it was well worth it. I found Dr. Rosenfeld 9 years ago after 3 other proctologists (even UCLA) could not permanently fix the fissure I had. He did, and I've been a loyal client ever since! The bum can be an awkward subject to talk about and he always makes it easy. He's personable, patient, and funny. When I've called with concerns his staff is always quick to get me in. We all hope for that perfect blend of competence and care when it comes to finding a new physician. And we know how incredibly rare it is to find. So, being a woman in a lot of pain, needing a good doctor to help me immediately, I called my GP, OB & GI docs... who ALL recommended Dr. Rosenfeld. I called his office and Genesis and Lyndsey were lovely, helpful, and got me in the next morning. What I didn't expect, was to find this doctor to be kind, patient, and THE MOST EMPATHETIC DOCTOR I have ever met. I came in with a clipboard of questions and notes and he listened to every word I said, answered every question, and actually graciously praised me for caring enough about my health to ask these questions. NO EGO!! I'm sure some of the questions were silly, but he never for one second made me feel like I was asking dumb questions or wasting his time. This review is mainly to express my own opinion on my experience with this doctor and his practice. I visited Dr. Rosenfeld on two occasions, once on November of 2018 for my initial consultation and the Sclerotherapy procedure which was done same day. The second in January 2019 for Rubber-band ligation. Both procedures were not effective and failed to work. My complain was that I was paying out of pocket for each procedure and the doctor charged for each office visit plus the procedure itself. He also charged for follow up visits on previously performed procedures. If you pay for a procedure I do not think it is fair to have to pay for a follow up on a procedure you already paid for. It should be covered in the initial cost. It's like I'm paying double for him to check on his work to make sure he did things correctly. I am also upset that both procedures failed to work but of course nothing is considered 100% or guaranteed. Not sure if he performed the procedure correctly or if my case was just difficult l. Lastly, my concern with the Rubber-band ligation is that the doctors refused to do all three needed at the same time and wanted each done separately which each required an additional fee. I ended up paying over 1500 in both procedures and follow ups. Overall if you don't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money I would suggest you visit another provider or at least make sure your insurance provider covers the cost. I must start by saying someones inability to understand a very simple billing process that's clearly discussed with you on the phone before you visit, or while you're there, gives no justification for writing a negative review. That's pathetic, not only have you made yourself look bad, you've unfairly labeled a very professional, competent, and pleasant Dr with your negative review. They don't initially take your insurance here unless you have Medicare. The office will submit your bill once "paid" by you, directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Reimbursement may come directly to you or to their office. If they receive "your" reimbursement, you will receive it. Is that hard to understand? I was recommended to Dr Rosenfeld by my regular doctor. So as I normally would, I called and made an appointment. It was the next day! Something I'm not normally used to when visiting a specialist. Now the Building doesn't look like much, and as most of us know, "diamonds are found in the rough". I easily found the Suite #. for Dr. Rosenfeld. His office is clean and comfy, the staff was very pleasant as well. I showed up with a problem that I have struggled with for over a year. I'd been dealing with pain from a chronic fissure off and on for a couple of years. This time around it wasn't healing and when I finally got into Dr. Rosenfelds office I was told my fissure had also turned into a partial fistula and that I would need surgery to fix the issue. I was terrified from not ever having had surgery before and had all kinds of concerns and fears. From the surgery itself, to how well I would heal afterwards, if there would be any lifelong issues I'd be left with, to how I'd deal with the recovery portion. Dr Rosenfeld did his best to answer my questions and make me feel at ease through the whole process. Once I went in for the surgery it was done in no time and I was awake and still alive!!! and realized I had spent weeks stressing over nothing. I was fine. I asked to add-on the slow release pain reliever that was offered and it helped immensely. I was half way there, the hard part was done and now I just needed to get through recovery. The first week wasn't easy but to be honest wasn't as bad and grueling as I'd expected it to be. It took me a couple of days to get the hang of packing my own gauze but I was able to figure out what worked for me and once I did I was golden. I packed my gauze while seated on the John (tmi) but it worked. The first 3 Days were probably the worst and after day 4 I could tell I was getting somewhere. I listened to all the advice I got from the dr. I took the pain killers ass needed and gauged when I could lessen the dosage (I drank some milk of magnesia during this time to counteract the constipation side effects), I slept as much as I could during the first two weeks to allow my body to heal on overdrive(I feel like this was key to quick healing), I drank tons of water, I ate light and easy (the easier to digest the better for the wound), sat in the tub after each bowel, used a gentle skin cleanser and I took my fiber daily. All of these things combined worked and every day was easier the the day before. It took me 8 weeks to fully heal and after the first two the gauze packing was second nature and didn't hurt to pack or remove. It's been 3 months since my surgery and I feel better than I did for the last few years. I feel normal again and I don't have that pesky tag anymore which is a plus. Everything feels nice and smooth and it's cliche but I feel like I got my life back. I recommend the surgery to anyone in that same situation! Last September I had double knee surgery and was given Oxycodin for the pain. I also was asked to take iron pills. No one ever bothered to tell me to be sure and take a laxative-so about 6 weeks after surgery I ended up in Urgent Care for pains in my stomach. Dr. Rosenfeld advised against banding and instead made some type of injection to shrink them. 45 minutes and $500+... Not a bad business. I was also advised to buy his magic poop powder which really didn't make any difference for me since I am mostly vegan. Anyway... the whole point was to get my hemorrhoids under control before a trip to Polynesia and the exact opposite happened. It got way worse instead. Now no treatment is guaranteed and I understand and respect that. What I don't understand is why spend so much money for a doctor who thinks he's above insurance plans when my previous doctor would have just charged me a small deductible for the same thing. Now Dr Rosenfeld was really nice and so was his staff. When I was there they were shooting some type of commercial or documentary and I must say they really have that part of the business down. But at the end of the day, this is a complete rip-off and I won't be going back. read more
