Dr. Lamon ordered follow-up testing for a month later to track changes, and put me on a daily baby aspirin, since it can lower chances of colon cancer, something I have a predilection to. When I arrived for my follow up, I paid my copay and went back to the room to wait. He burst in and demanded to know how many tests I had done. I said I did whatever was on the order, just the one--he shoved a copy in my face and asked me to confirm and I said yeah, that was probably the one. He stormed out, yelling at the nurses as he went. They apparently ordered the wrong test and were supposed to order a second test as well, which they did not, meaning the appt was a waste of time since they couldn't tell me anything. He stomped back in and asked me if there was anything I needed--I had noticed that I started to sunburn more easily than normal (like fully burned and peeling after less than 40 minutes in the shade). I did my research and read several peer reviewed studies that showed daily aspirin could make people photosensitive. I have issue with the texture of sun block on my skin, cause it gets very sticky and takes really hard scrubbing to get it off, so I went to ask "I think the aspirin is making me burn easier. I know I need to wear sunblock, but I hate the feeling of it, are there any you recommend as a doctor that might not cause that issue?" I got as far as "sunblock, but" when he interrupted me and told me "It's stupid to think aspirin could that, and if you don't wanna wear sunblock I can introduce you to some melanoma patients who might change your mind." I have had three cancers. My mom has had 7. May dad has had 4, including skin, and this is all on my family history and should be stuff he is aware of. He walked out after that. Since they hadn't even had a chance to do my vitals yet, a nurse, Danica, who said she was head nurse, came in to do them. I told her "I will be getting a refund for my copay today." And related what happened. She apologized for his behavior and offered "since you already paid today, I can have the front desk mark that it's waived next time, unless you need the money now." I agreed to that, and spoke with Danica and the receptionist while I got my lab orders and everyone agreed to the arrangement. On the third appointment they asked to collect a copay, and I reminded them that I had spoken with her and Danica previously, and it should be waived for this appointment. She said she did recall the conversation and that she would waive it. I have spoken to them no less than ten times about this now, as they have been billing me monthly for the third appointment's copay, threatening to send me to collections, etc. If I call and leave a message with the billing department it gets ignored. Each time I get a live person and explain the situation to someone they agree that I shouldn't pay it, and finally, a year and a half later, I think I have finally managed to convince them by posting the above on their site review system. 1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing and Heartless Experience…read more My 90-year-old wheelchair-bound mother, my husband, and I have all been patients of Perlman Clinic. After what happened today, all three of us will be leaving the practice. I had an 11:00 AM appointment for my mother, but the office called and changed it to 10:40 AM, insisting she needed a 40-minute appointment. I explained that we did not need 40 minutes, but they insisted. Getting my 90-year-old mother out of the house is extremely difficult. I drove 30 minutes to pick her up, helped get her into the car, and then drove another 25 minutes to the clinic. Knowing I would be late, I called the office ahead of time to let them know. I arrived approximately 15 minutes late. My mother was still sitting in the car while I went inside to get help transferring her into a wheelchair. I explained the situation, that she was in pain and needed to see a doctor, and pleaded with them to please see her. They refused. What was most upsetting was the complete lack of compassion toward a 90-year-old, wheelchair-bound patient. The staff's response felt cold, dismissive, and aggressive. There was no attempt to accommodate the situation or show understanding of what it took to get my elderly mother to that appointment. My mother had been a patient of the medical practice Perlman took over for approximately 50 years. After decades as a patient, this is how she was treated. This is also not my first frustrating experience. I have personally waited 20-30 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment time at this practice, yet there was no flexibility when an elderly patient arrived 15 minutes late after her appointment had been changed by the office. I have also been disappointed by what I perceive as a lack of continuity and experience among some of the providers I've encountered, as well as frequent referrals to outside specialists rather than having concerns addressed directly. The front-office experience has been particularly disappointing. I have witnessed behavior that I consider unprofessional, including staff chatting about personal matters in the waiting area. Two employees, Gavin and Cezon, were particularly rude and aggressive during today's interaction. Healthcare should involve more than policies and appointment times. It should involve compassion, especially when dealing with elderly and vulnerable patients. Perlman Clinic failed my mother today. After this experience, I no longer have confidence in this practice. All three of us will be finding healthcare elsewhere.

I'm going through some serious health issues between my back and kidney stones. My life is not the…read moresame as I'm dealing with constant pain, and yet my doctor can't seem to find the time to see me. The PA is not supposed to be my primary care physician--Dr. Halim is. She is not personally familiar with my medical history or my previous conversations with him. Dr. Halim initially diagnosed my back issues as a muscle tear. He ordered an X-ray, but when I came in to review the results, I was assigned to his PA, whose diagnosis was different. They ordered a CT scan, and when I returned to review that, I was yet again assigned to the PA. Then they ordered an MRI. I had the MRI done on a Friday. After another weekend of dealing with the pain, I called Monday to make an appointment to review the MRI. I thought I was being completely reasonable in requesting to see my actual doctor this time. I hadn't been able to talk to or see him since the X-ray or CT scan, and I wanted to discuss the results of all three tests with him. This is a big deal--not only the three large kidney stones, but also the other unrelated pain I've been experiencing. It has been horrible. When I called, I specifically told the receptionist that I needed to see Dr. Halim rather than his PA. I was told, "I can't guarantee that you will see him." I explained that I was in a lot of pain and had been jumping through all these hoops and taking all these tests without ever being able to see my doctor. The receptionist put me on hold for several minutes, apparently to speak with Dr. Halim. She came back and told me, "Yes, Dr. Halim will see you Friday at 10 AM." I made the appointment and double-confirmed before ending the call: "So, you're telling me that if I come in Friday at 10, I will for certain be able to see my doctor this time?" She said yes. I showed up Friday morning. The front desk confirmed that I had a 10 o'clock appointment with Dr. Halim. The other staff member brought me back, checked my blood pressure and told me, "Doctor Halim will be right in." He never came in. I never got to review my X-ray, CT scan or MRI with him. Having Dr. Halim as my physician, I would have thought it was a good thing to have a doctor with decades of experience. He had sold me on how knowledgeable he was about back issues, especially since he has had three back surgeries himself. But what good does all that experience and knowledge do for me when I can never get to see or speak with him? I had waited four days for that Friday 10 AM appointment after my MRI results came back. This appointment was extremely inconvenient because I'm also my mom's caregiver. She can't drive, and she had her own specialist appointment that Friday morning that she had been waiting a month for. I couldn't take her because I needed to see Dr. Halim during the only appointment he had available for me that week. My sister had to take time off work to take my mom to her specialist so I could make it to Dr. Halim's appointment. I rearranged all of that because I was specifically promised I would finally get to see my doctor. Instead, I showed up and was blown off yet again. I can't imagine what else it could be other than Dr. Halim simply being stretched too thin and too busy with too many patients. It can't be something personal. I've been a good patient and have always been on time and friendly with him and his staff. They laugh at my silly jokes, and I've even brought bags of candy for the doctor and staff to show my appreciation. Everything had been great--right up until I was promised four times (twice on the phone and twice in person) that I would see my doctor, and it didn't happen. This isn't just about my schedule. I'm dealing with daily pain, and my family had to rearrange their schedules so I could make that specific Friday 10 AM appointment. After waiting a week for the MRI, I was desperate to get the results and discuss the X-ray, CT scan and MRI with Dr. Halim. It would have been worth my sister taking time off work to take my mom to her appointment if it finally meant I could see my doctor and review everything. Instead, I felt like a real sucker for rearranging everything after being promised I could see my doctor that day. It was never like this before. Dr. Halim must be too busy, with a backlog of patients and a poorly organized schedule, to see me after three consecutive appointments. But if he wasn't going to be available, I think the common courtesy would have been to call me and reschedule. I was PROMISED that if I rearranged my schedule for a third appointment, four days out, I would get to see my doctor. I was given one timeslot the entire week--Friday at 10 AM--to finally get to see my doctor. And even after PROMISED I would finally get to see my doctor, nope, no explanation, no apology, no doctor,

I feel that, in light of the recent healthcare changes in this country to bring our standards to the level of European countries proven to be far healthier than we Americans are, he will continue to educate himself about alternatives to allopathic drugs and updated treatments and cures as they become available. Dr C is honest and open and his staff is competent and friendly. I love how his private office is open to his waiting area and how he treats his staff like family.
