He worked in the morning and left Burrego in the afternoon. I had been in the hospital ICU for brain bleeding, and my neurosurgeon told me to see my primary doctor as soon as possible. After calling Centro Médico Escondido many, many times and not being able to make an emergency appointment, they sent me an appointment via text message without even checking if I could make it that day. Desperate to get my referrals set up, I made it to the appointment. Sadly, Dr. Hernandez left the clinic without canceling my appointment. He works in the morning and leaves in the afternoon. If it was an emergency, the front desk should have called me to reschedule. I have been waiting for a whole month for an emergency appointment. When I called over the phone, I said I would take any doctor available as soon as possible. I am so disappointed with this center. The front desk staff are rude and act like nothing happened. I kept telling her this is an emergency, but she still rescheduled me for next month July 18th!! So, wait time for an emergency appointment is two months in Cento Medico Escondido!! I will definitely change my Burrego.

I'd always ask if I had a copay or owed anything and the front office would just say "if you owe anything they'll bill you" I guess it just takes them a while. I left a message for the manager to call me back, that was last week and surprise surprise, no one's followed up. This place is a total joke.

The ramp to get up to the entrance is all the way down at the other end of the building though, maybe four doors down. There are only stairs to get on the sidewalk right outside of this doctors office. The door to enter the building is a door where you turn the handle down then push in to enter. There is also a security guard always standing outside so if you need help you can ask them for assistance. Good opinion about San Ysidro Health: this location was taken over by San Ysidro Health a year or two ago and I love it. San Ysidro has a very proactive health approach versus a reactive health approach. What that means is that I sometimes get phone calls from the doctor asking if I want to make an appointment for the flu shot, COVID vaccine, get a pap smear or something else because they see in my records that I am overdue for something. I love that. I love that they call me instead of me always having to call when it's too late. Experience: from the outside this building looks pretty rough and there used to be a lot of homeless people sleeping in the parking lot but they have a security guard now all the time which I appreciate. When you get inside you check in then sit in the waiting room until they call you back. The inside of this location is a lot nicer than the outside. But the best part is definitely the doctors. Dr. Chris Snyder is the best medical doctor I have had in my life. All my life I had doctors who didn't listen to me and ignored when I needed help but Dr Snyder is the first doctor to believe me. That has been life changing. I avoided going to the doctor when I really needed to until I got Chris Snyder as a doctor...now I go when I need to. The only thing I recommend as something that they could improve on is the front office staff not whispering or talking to each other and giggling when there are patients around. A few times now I have felt like they were talking about patients, and one time I did actually hear them say a guy had been there multiple times for the same issue, then they got too quiet to hear, then they laughed. Even if they are not talking about patients, the patients will assume they are.

It's been 5 years, and my bill is still in collection because I refuse to pay for a mistake THEY made, and they made more than one, let me tell you. They always made sure to charge me before I saw the doctor, and then I got a bill for $20 after leaving, which was their fault for not charging me beforehand. Now that bill is $185, and they blamed me for the mistake. Nothing is every their fault! I was told that the bill was rising so I had better pay it, no f**king way am I EVER paying that bill. Please, stay away from this place, the staff don't even know what they're doing! I don't know how they passed any kind of medical office training! I hope they are sued, quite frankly.

I spent all of 2019 going to specialist for this and specialist for that, and I actually tried a new PCP but didn't really like him. Recently I had a knee problem and after an MRI and seeing a knee specialist it's been determined I'll need surgery to repair a detached meniscus. As a requirement to that surgery I was told I'll need a pre-op evaluation from my PCP. I have none. We'll they referred me to Dr. Paz and after a breif time spent with this guy I knew right away I had found my new PCP. Dr. Paz took time to listen to me about several issues I was having medically having nothing to do with the pre-op surgery exam I was there for and he really seemed genuine. Gave some great advice and even called me later that day asking some addditional question and giving some additional advice. Dr. Paz has a great personality and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great Dr. who actually cares about your well being. All the best, Don Clarke

I'm a new patient and he asked me my view on a topic that is best not discussed, much less with a doctor! So basically, he will decide whether or not he will care for you based on that? She had a bad cough, chest pain, and other symptoms. She was seen by a doctor here who told her she has bronchitis and asthma from an infection. They said they would send in the prescription for her inhaler and other medication. When we got to the Rite Aid to pick up her medication on a Friday evening, we found the Rite Aid was permanently closed. Oh no.... this was bad. But I messaged this clinic here on Yelp, this very page, and the next morning, Saturday morning, my wife got a phone call directly from someone who was able to resend her meds to a CVS less than 5 minutes from our house!!! Wow! Amazing. We were so worried we wouldn't be able to get her medicine until the next day they were open....5 days later....but because they reached out to us on a Saturday, we were able to get the meds only a day or two later!! Thank you endlessly to this clinic that truly CARES about every single person that comes through their doors. This clinic makes the world a better place and saves lives.

The clinic itself is run on donations. They can do physicals, give vaccines, prescribe medications, have blood labs drawn, do screenings of all sorts of other services (Pap, suture/staple removal, EKG, mental health, TB testing, diabetes education and supplies, urinalysis, drug testing for specific organizations, strep a testing, etc.), and provide plenty of usually specialized and costly healthcare. They have five clinics across Escondido, Ocean Beach, North Park, and Carlsbad. They also partner to provide care for other refugee and human trafficking organizations. At the start of each academic semester, there is a new crop of students running the joint and it can get a bit lengthy of a wait, but the care is real, high quality, and free. This Escondido clinic is open most Tuesdays at 1pm, taking their last patient at 6pm, and Thursdays at 8am, taking their last patient at 12pm. Appointments are available but walk ins are also taken on a first come, first served basis.
