Split thumb nail--sideways split. And check out the paint job

If I could do negative stars I would. First of all the place is FILTHY. There are jumbles of jars and bottles and mess on EVERY SURFACE. I have never seen anything like it. There is dust and human yuck and fake nail debris powder in thick layers on the lamps, counters, the divets in the baskets... I mean EVERYWHERE. The once white chairs are grey and have nail polish and product all over them. I came to this salon because I was visiting from Arizona to take care of my dad with a broken ankle. He doesn't want me to drive his car without him in it so I felt this place in Walmart was the only choice because Walmart had an electric cart my dad could use. So once the manicure/gel polish started I felt trapped. Please note: NOT ONCE WERE CLEAN TOOLS USED. By Idaho law all items that cannot be sterilized are SINGLE USE including buffing blocks and nail files and the dremmel type file sanding tips. Metal items should be sterilized and pulled out of a sterilized single use package including cuticle pushers, clippers, nippers, and metal dremmel tips. I was assigned to a man and although I told him I had very thin nails and he needed to be very careful sanding off the old polish he pulled out an UNSTERILIZED metal dremmel tip and aggressively sanded my nails. I more than once pulled my hand back and said "ouch". He then decided to soak my nails in acetone except it was so messy in the salon he wandered around looking for foil, cotton, and a bottle of acetone. He then pulled out a pair of tiny scissors and proceeded to spend 10 minutes cutting and tearing foil into squares to wrap my nails--some too small to get around a nail and some so big I had a huge ball that kept falling off my nail. After a few minutes he pulled off the foils and then pulls out ANOTHER UNSTERILIZED tool--a metal cuticle pusher. He starts aggressively scraping my nails. When he got to my thumb nail he slipped off the front of my nail and shoved back sideways splitting my nail. He stood up and said "It so hard because it have glitta". He said "where you from?" I said Arizona. He said "how they clean your nail in Arizona?" I told him they gently sand the top barely, then soak in acetone, then gently sand the rest by barely touching the top." He said "we do it different here." I said "well you are hurting me." He "finishes" the removal and grabs the polish. I said I needed a manicure also. He grabbed an UNSTERILIZED pair of clippers and cut all my nails different lengths and shapes. The split thumb nail kept snagging on the UNSTERILIZED file, pulling sideways. Since it was so chaotic he went to find a bowl for me to soak my nails in (which by the way was FILTHY). While he was gone I looked at my nails and saw that there were still big clumps of base coat all over my nails. When he came back I showed him and asked please can you remove it so the polish will be smooth? All the sudden he turns to the woman who works there and rudely speaks in Vietnamese about me using the word Arizona several times. She stands up and grabs some of the items he was using and says "you come sit over here, I do your nail." Although she was nice she again used an UNSTERILIZED dremmel tip and UNSTERILIZED buffer to remove the base coat. She then pulls out an UNSTERILIZED pair of nippers to trim my cuticles. My experience is my fingers should be soaked in a mixture of water and cuticle remover that helps dissolve the excess skin. This lady randomly HACKED my skin to the point of bleeding. I have no idea of her reasoning on why she chose areas and left other areas since as you can see there are many hang nails left but randomly chopped me up in other areas. When I told her she was hurting me and she was cutting me she said "most people complain I don't cut enough." This is why there's no cuts on my left hand--she quit hacking me up. Overall a manicure and gel polish change that should have taken 45 minutes took an hour and 45 minutes. I left with a split thumb nail, hacked up skin with some bleeding, and I PRAY no infection.

The staff are extremely cranky and don't want to take care of what you want! The quality is hit and miss, the salon is a mess.
