I HAD A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE AT THIS NAIL SALON. The prices advertised were misleading, and I was charged significantly more than expected. When I brought this up with Wendy who's the person who did my nails she refused to offer a refund or even acknowledge the issue, especially after I left an honest review. On top of that, the quality of the manicure was unacceptable. The polish was uneven and bumpy, and my cuticles were completely neglected. The cuticles are something that's typically standard with any decent manicure. I left feeling frustrated and like I had wasted my money. I went for dipped nails. I have never paid $67.00 to have my nails done. I had to wait about 30 to 40 minutes. I had several bumpy nails. The owner is cannot hire enough technicians. She and one other handle all of the business. I can get my nails dipped elsewhere for $37.00. I will not be returning. read more

Worst manicure ever ... my ten year old niece could do a better job. She cut the nails all different shapes, one is even diagonal instead of squared or rounded ... the first time she painted my nails, it looked like she put the polish on and then immediately touched it to check if it was dry ... she blamed the color instead of taking the blame, asked if I wanted to fix it and I said yes, so I picked anew color and it was a little better but still looked like a little kid did if. read more

The salon was DIRTY! The staff was nice enough, the owner did my pedicure and manicure. She rushed through both and did a sloppy job. The 10 minute massage was 4 minutes. Her husband started 20 minutes before on another customer and we ended at the same time. My nail were clipped and hardly filed, Polish was sloppy. read more

Was stopped for the night in this town, walked in for a pedi, BIG sign out front said $20, they tried to charge me $25, very large space, must have been 85° in there, asked for a fan while I waited, no problem...then a GUY came over, turned on basketball game and turned off fan, kept turning around and looking at the TV instead of at my feet, he was very rough on my feet, I have never had such pain while in a salon, I actually couldn't wait to get out of there... I went in to get a fill and had to wait which was not a big deal. There were some young gals getting nails done and the man was very unprofessional and was talking about going to party with them and even offered money for them to go buy beer. One of the ladies started working with me and another customer walked in and she told me that my nails needed to dry and proceeded to help the other lady. I was going on a trip and needed to have my nails done before I went. I read many reviews on many salons in town, and settled on Solar based on these reviews. It is most definitely a family ran business. Kids running around, husband also doing nails. Nothing about these things bothered me, it was kind of neat I thought. I read many comments about the cleanliness of the business. There were a few things I personally would have cleaned up a bit more, but nothing that turned me off of the place. The only real complaints I have is they did nothing to sculpt the nails. They were thin and she could have spent more time shaping and smoothing them. I did however experience the one side rounded and the other squared, again this would have been fixed had more time been spent shaping and sculpting the nails. The tops were rough, even after 2 coats of color and a clear coat. Also I am not sure if they understood what I wanted when I asked for narrow nails. One thing that would make me not come back is the heater. Instead of using a UV or LED she had me put my hands in front of a VERY hot blowing heater, to set the acrylic. This was quite painful, and if I do return I will refuse that part. Minimal lifting though, they lasted a full 2 weeks before having to be filled. With a little care when being filled these issues were easily fixed. I also question the price of having to pay a full 10.00 dollars extra, for nails that go past my finger tips, I have never experienced this before. All in all it was not a terrible experience. For the price if you want quick nails, it is not to bad. (Though I still question the price hike.) I think with a little more time spent in the thickness of the acrylic (for strength) and sculpting (for shape) This would be a place I would return to again if I needed a salon. read more

I am going to do my best to summarize the outstandingly poor service of this place, in the shortest way possible. First off, the "leather" chairs for the pedicures are all badly torn and ruined. The floors are stained and very dirty. I had a manicure and pedicure, and we'll start with the pedicure. They were out of several polishes I wanted, and when the lady pulled the brush out of the one I settled for, it was clumpy and almost gone. She also filed my toes a little too long, I could feel them burning at times and the massage was lame and like 2 seconds long and she almost burned my feet off with the hot wax treatment. Then another girl glued her glove to my finger, while putting my nails on, and ripped it away so pieces of purple glove were stuck to it. Then she sat and tried to pick it off- even after I told her to stop several times- I had to pull my hand away for her to understand. Then a dude comes over and holds my hand up in the air and starts hacking away at my nails with a file. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, and this freaking hurt. And he did not give a f*. Then I go over and get burned some more by an electric file. He burned my cuticles quite a few times. Then he did gel on the acrylic and the light burned so bad I pulled my hand out and the guy got mad at and to me, my nails look ridiculous. So! I will not be going there, or recommending them ever. In my life. At all. And I hope they all lose their jobs. read more

This was my first experience ever in a nail salon. My daughter is graduating so I decided to take her and get a pedicure as a treat for both of us. Neither of us have ever had a pedicure or manicure so we have nothing to judge it by. It started off bad by the shop being closed despite me having made an appointment previously. I called the number and the owner answered and said she forgot and she would get dressed and come right over. She drove into the parking lot like a crazy person and it was clear she had just rolled out of bed and threw on clothes. She then proceeded to sit us in the chairs while she was on the phone for 10 minutes. The water was HOT. I mean seriously HOT. I put my feet in and had to immediately pull them back out. My feet looked like red lobsters. She clipped my daughter's toenails so short and in an odd shape that it hurt once she put socks on. She talked the entire time about how the water in her house has been shut off and how hard it is to be a single mom. She cut me while using a dremel tool on my toe nails and then proceeded to use her bare hand to wipe the blood away and painted my toe even though there was still fresh blood. To anyone who goes there, DO NOT use gel polish #19 because it has my blood mixed in. I'm pretty sure that this is not how a pedicure is supposed to be. $100 for sore and bloody toes?? This was my first and LAST experience with a pedicure. For a lady in business for over 16 years she sure ruined what was suppose to be a fun time for me and my daughter. read more

This is an awful nail salon. I went with my little sister and aunt. The person who did my little sisters, made her take off the nail polish that she had on before, grab the phone for her, and plug in the UV light. They were very rough with our hands and said nothing to my sister and I. I recommend not going here. It was not a very good experience for me or my sister. read more

I went to salon this on Saturday for a mani/pedi. The young man who did my gel manicure used a dremal tool to prep my nails which I didn't understand. I had two of my natural nails to break that same evening and three more break on Sunday. It's obvious my nails have been damaged due to the use of a dremal tool on them. He never soaked my hands to soften the cuticles. Again, he used the dremal tool to try and remove some of the cuticle. I had to ask for hand lotion when he finished. Same young man did my pedicure and it was just ok. I've much better. The salon was not clean or tidy. Very disappointing experience. read more

The people here were pretty nice. I will give them that much. However, the place is extremely run down and doesn't seem clean at all. Also, I paid $27 for a gel change that I normally pay $18-$20 for at my regular nail salon in Boise. You would think the quality would be at least on par at this price but they completely butchered my nails. They cut them WAY too short, the color isn't even across all my nails, the gel feels like its about to come off, and you can see the whites at the end of my nails because they didn't put enough color on them. I'm really disappointed and it kills me that I wasted this much money. read more

I have been having my nails done at Solar Nails for many years. They always do a good job and I am treated kind. The salon is a little messy but it is sanitary and that's what matters. I have not had my nails lift like other salons. If I break a nail they are happy to make a quick repair. My nails always look good. read more

There were several walk-in customers and the two employees went back and forth from one customer to the other, not giving full attention to any of the customers. Worst manicure I've ever had. This was the WORST nail salon we have ever been to! The place was disgusting and there were dirty rags stuffed under a dresser (probably the same rags they used to wash our feet and then continued to clean the floor with). Another let down was that they barely had any colors besides red and blue. To top it all off, they were very rude to my mom. Her feet started swelling after the lady put some sort of disinfectant inside the tub while we were soaking our feet. Then when my mom got up because it hurt so much, the lady asked her where she was going and was acting like my mom was going to run out without paying. Then, the younger lady came and practically forced her into sitting down and dealing with the pain. She was begging her to sit back down and wouldn't take no for an answer. Also, the older lady did not get all the nail polish off from a previous pedicure and she filed my toenails way too short and she kept filing my skin instead of the nail itself. Walked in and walked out. Absolutely disgusting, the employee was busy doing her own nails and we were told it would be a wait. They had 7 what appeared to be expired nail polishes to choose from. The carpet looked like it had never seen a vacuum and I'm not sure what that rotten smell was? I would highly recommend not visiting this place, I doubt their tools have ever been in sanitizer. read more
