I had the wine flight, it was good but mostly sweet wines.. I like dry whites. I did find a wine I liked in the flight and got another glass of that to enjoy. Great outdoor family friendly spot.

Located just under an hour from Charlotte is Davesté Vineyards. I came out today to check out the Octoberfest Beer and Wine Festival. Note: this vineyard is a little smaller than some others in the area. Your $15 entrance fee came with a free glass of wine or wine slushie. A friend raved about the strawberry wine slushies from past seasons so it was a must try for me. This particular vineyard specializes in a lot of dry wines. I personally am a Sauvignon Blanc kind of girl and I did purchase a bottle today however I was a little disappointed with the selection. Most are known for their acidity and crisp taste this one wasn't as crisp. Typically the grapefruit and green apple stand out. Needless to say this one didn't. We did sample a few reds which seems like the better route next time. There were food trucks including Big Mama's Soul Food that offered a flounder sandwich which was *chef's kiss*. There was live music and a walking trail. There were plenty of seating options and some guests even brought their own folding chairs, live music and vendors. The event was one for the whole family. I even brought the dog out today. Although the venue states it's open until 8p, they really start shutting down the show at 7:30p we found the lights turned off on us a couple times while on the patio, but we caught the hint.

Nice, quaint winery in Troutman, NC. It was a slow evening which was fitting for my family and I. My cousin brought me out to celebrate my birthday. Located about 30 minutes above Charlotte. The grounds are lovely. They have a small pond, a bridge, and various seating arrangements. They are kid friendly with restrictions as you approach the hill leading to the pond. Very much understood. You're also allowed to bring your own food. This particular evening they did not have any live entertainment but they generally have music on the weekends I believe. We decided on a wine flight and were served the tiniest tasting I've ever had in life. I'm talking slightly bigger than a medicine cup. Literally, the size of half a small Dixie cup. This was disappointing to me and definitely not worth $15. We didn't let this ruin our evening. We set up a picnic under a tree, overlooking a pond. The landscaping of the vineyard is stunning and it was so relaxing and peaceful. We walked through the vineyard and took some pics and had an overall good experience.

I came to Daveste Vineyards with a group of about 12 people after hiking Rocky Face Mountain on our way back to Charlotte. The group organizer had called the vineyard a couple of weeks beforehand to request that they set aside space for us, and she also called them when we were on our way from the mountain to confirm our arrival time. Despite this communication, the staff seemed confused when we arrived and unprepared. Their payment system is not the most streamlined since you need to use one credit card machine for drinks and another for food, so you can't order both food & drinks at the same time. For drinks, they will pour flights/glasses for you right away after you pay, but for food, they said we should return in 15-20 minutes and look to see if it's ready. Also, on the day that we went, the chef was out of town, so they were only offering cold foods. The grounds are lovely and nice to enjoy on a pretty day. We put some tables together in the covered pavillion and settled in with our flights. I was a bit disappointed that the wine tastings come in small plastic cups instead of glasses. In general, we did not enjoy the wines very much. Some were quite dry and others were on the sweeter end, but I wouldn't order any of these again since the flavors just didn't do it for me. Pairing the final wine with dark chocolate was a nice touch (although by the time we got to our Hershey's kiss, it was pretty melted). When I went to go pick up our cold food (crab salad & Mediterranean stuffed avocados), I also got a glass of sangria. This was much more enjoyable than the wine, in my opinion. It was nicely chilled and fruity. It was again served in a plastic cup, which is not my preferred way to enjoy a drink. The food was just ok - nothing to rave about. After we finished up, we took a walk down the waterfall path, which was much longer than expected. There are signs on the path, but they don't share any distances. I THINK we reached the waterfall, but it wasn't very noteworthy. The artificial waterfall on the grounds is more impressive.

The dog was being groomed and had time to kill after driving all over Troutman decided to check out the vineyard. Do check the hours before you go I did not, just made a last minute decision to visit. Know they are closed on Wednesday. Driving into the property would have seen the sign had I not had the window open and was fighting with a hornet in the car. A few cars were parked outside and walked in only to find out they were closed. The nice surprise was they were willing take the time to talk to me and even a purchase of a bottle of Viognier and a soy candle. Both were lovely. It being the middle of the week did not have any bottles open for tasting so we talked about two wines of interest. Looking around the lodge found they have meats and cheeses available, bottled water and soda. Other items for sale are boxes of olive oils and balsamic vinegars, chocolates and dog treats. The woman behind the counter was friendly, took her time and we talked about the property. She even spoke of wines that won awards. We went outside took a look at the pond, stream and the wine vines across the way. Then she tells me there is a walking path about a mile that goes around the property and was welcome to it. It was a nice day figured why not? The trail starts out clear you just follow the path and eventually you will have to make a decision of the upper or lower falls. I chose the upper and would find a large creek. (video won't load). The hike was nice lots of ferns, wild mushrooms, different trees. After seeing what might be multiple snake holes got a bit nervous wearing leather flops. That said, grabbed a three pronged branch to make noise in front of me. Then the trail ran out and had to make my way up a hill and figure out how to get back to the lodge. Being alone was having an oh @%&! moment. Coming out of the woods was able to look at the property and made a right into a residesule area. Stopping a random woman coming out of her home asked how to get back to the lodge? Weird it would be the same woman who spoke with me at the lodge. She told me to follow the path to the left and "she wondered what happened to me?" Would like to visit again and taste some of the wines they have to offer. If you want to walk the trails wear proper shoes and bug spray the mosquitos are looking for a meal.

Our first visit!!!! There were 10 of us visiting on a beautiful crisp autumn Saturday afternoon. Live music played on the porch entertained us all afternoon. There were ample tables and chairs that we set in the Sun. We brought our own charcuterie board and snacks. We had it all from cold beer, flights of wine, wine by the glass and bottle. Some drank from plastic cups others spent $2 for a souvenir glass. We enjoyed the waterfall, took short hikes through the woods, thought about the cozy gas fire pits, and exciting additional event venues--one existing which was hosting a fundraiser and one under construction. Vineyard parking available. You might pack your own bag chairs to be on the safe side. There was a food truck/van on site. The staff was SUPER FRIENDLY, KIND, AND PATIENT. They were working hard all day. There was always a line for beer/wine and the bathrooms. I guess the two are related. We are glad we decided to explore a new location and can certainly see coming back. Highly recommend whether it's a date with just one special person or a group of girls enjoying the weekend at Lake Norman.

A brilliant collection of local-sourced and locally vinted wines and sparkling selection. The facility is not fancy, modern or upscale.. which is PERFECT for a relaxing escape from the challenges of daily modern-life. Enjoy sipping a full bodied red while overlooking the bubbling waterfall as the breeze rustles the leaves all around. A great selection of whites, from dry to sweet are available too. Grab a 6-varietal flight and lounge on the open space in front of the plaza while listening to the local band or musical group, properly curated for the environment and adding to the experience. A conservative selection of foods are available too, rolls - not sushi!! - but generously filled- hot-dog buns with a selection of chicken salad and other well-seasoned lunch-time fare at very reasonable prices round out the tasting and relaxing experience. In the retail area, there is an over-looked collection of fine cheese and some crackers available, along with local made chocolates, some pop-corn and fun snacks. You can reserve the medium-sized covered dining area for a private party, seats about 80-100 I think and there is a fireplace with brick facade that really add to the ambiance! They are both PET and KID friendly, however no children are allowed around the pond and waterfall for safety concerns.

Daveste' has a nice, diverse selection of wines. We tasted several whites, reds, both dry and sweet. Iris was insightful and attentive.

From load-in onward, management seemed far more concerned with monitoring and restricting the performance than supporting live entertainment. Before the show even began, there were already complaints about potential volume levels simply from seeing the sound equipment and production setup. The band and crew made extensive efforts to accommodate every concern throughout the night. The drummer used hot rods instead of regular sticks, the FOH engineer kept the band under very controlled volume levels, and even the lighting setup was intentionally kept minimal and non-intrusive out of respect for the venue. Despite all of those accommodations, management continued hovering throughout the evening and interrupting over very minor issues. It created an unnecessarily tense atmosphere for both the performers and production crew. Live music requires a certain level of comfort and trust between the venue and the people running the show, and unfortunately that never existed here. In addition, one of the bartenders consistently came across as dismissive and talked down to members of the band and crew during the night. At one point, they stated that this was "a bar that happens to have music," and proceeded to lecture me on how sound works and how customers would not be able to hear each other if the band was too loud. This was particularly frustrating considering the extensive efforts already being made by both the band and audio crew to keep levels controlled and respectful for the room. Everyone involved on the production side remained professional and cooperative throughout the evening, but the overall attitude toward live music and production made the experience unnecessarily stressful. As someone who works behind the scenes to help create a professional live experience, it was disappointing to feel like every aspect of the production was treated as a problem rather than part of the entertainment guests came to see. If a venue only wants extremely quiet background music with little to no production presence, they would likely be better suited booking solo acoustic performers instead of full live bands with sound and lighting support.
