Something fishy about this place and I don't trust them. For the past 10 years or so, we have made it a practice to say thank you to close friends and coworkers by giving them a bottle of Biltmore Estate Christmas wine. Normally we would just go out and buy a case or so but with Covid and Supply Chain issues, stores were not able to get bulk shipments which meant that you had to go to multiple bottles. Started out at Total Wine and More in Birkdale and scored 4 bottles. Next tried Wine Maestro and despite the fact that it was 11:30am, there were no cars in the parking lot, lights were off and doors locked. Went to Olive Garden for lunch and while I was there, I called the store. Someone answered and I asked if they were open, and they said yes and they had been there from the time the store opened. Explained I what I was looking for as well. I explained that I had been there 30 to 45 minutes earlier and the lights were off, doors locked and no cars in the lot. The gentleman on the other end of the line said I was wrong and besides, they don't carry the Biltmore Wine. I don't like dealing with this type of untruthfulness. This place is the best the servers are very personable. They offer the best wine for the money that you can find in a 100 mile radius. They give a very personal service to there approach. They love what they do and are very knowledgeable. In my opinion they are the most knowledgeable in bang for the buck they can find true gems for 15$ and if you have e a special occasion then they still have you covered. You have to go there if you are new to wine and do not want to be ripped off. Oooor if you are an expert they can find the hidden gems. I recently attended a holiday wine tasting and had a fantastic experience. The new owners have definitely made a lasting impression on me. They are super nice just all around good people. The event was well organized and planned out. We sampled various red and white wines that pair well with holiday dishes. The tasting was very educational and informative. We also enjoyed the charcuterie plate, spinach dip and pizzetta. This was such a wonderful event. I ordered my favorite import wine and it was available to pick-up when I arrived. Okay, so here is the results of the moscato taste test. Wine #1 the Moscato Giallo Frizzante. This is a balanced wine, mild and floral. Slightly bubbly, just a hint. This is labeled as a sweet wine but it is not too sweet. Altogether a great wine! Wine #2, the Risata Moscato d'Asti. Again another balanced wine with mild citrus notes along with a hint of honey. No bubbles but I did not miss them. I am not picking a looser here, these were both great wines. But, the winner is..... If I am going by flavor alone, the Risata Moscato d'Asti wins. If I go by flavor of a more mature person (AKA someone that expects a little more flavor profile and not looking for something you would forget was alcohol, the Moscato Giallo wins. First and foremost adherence to CDC COVID guidelines is most important in this period of time. The owners of this place appear to take these guidelines seriously and they follow them. That earns then 5 stars for safety. Moving on to the place itself. The decor and ambiance are very nice and tasteful. The owners that waited on us were very courteous and attentive. The food was delicious. My wife had the mussels in white wine sauce and they were really delicious. I had the black bean burger in a tortilla shell. What a cool concept. The presentation was appetising and it was delicious. The drink options were good. My wife had the wine flight. Very reasonably priced. I had the Allagash North Sky Stout and it was superb. Tip: The cheesecake is beyond delicious!! All in all this establishment deserves 5 stars and thanks to Yelp we found this gem in Mooresville. We now have another go to place in this town. read more

I had a wonderful time this afternoon at Wine Maestro. My husband and I had a very relaxing afternoon, with their $10 wine flight, a couple of appetizers, followed up by a glass of wine. We sat inside (they have comfy chairs!) although they also have outdoor seating. I want to come back at twilight so I can appreciate the atmosphere outside with the lights they have up. I used to love this place, however the help they have hired to run the wine bar is terrible, she is very rude, unwelcoming and literally makes me feel like I should not be there. Normally they go through the wine flight with you as they have a "theme" which was so nice but now since she has been there I get greeted as follows, "Sit wherever and I will be with you in few minutes" however there was only 2 other people in there today which also had no menus or drinks! I woke up this morning thinking of the romantic evening my husband and I shared at The Maestro for our 19th wedding anniversary. The owners are fantastic and beyond knowledgeable. The servers are friendly and helpful beyond measure. They all make you feel like you are the only one in the restaurant. Taking care of your every whim is their specialty. My husband and I have enjoyed many flights there and they are always there to answer any questions we may have. On this particular night, we were lucky enough to enjoy the champagne flight and it did not disappoint. Okay, now on to the food. Honestly, we have never had anything bad there. Anytime I've done their special one it's been great but if I build my own flight or get a glass off the menu, the wine sometimes doesn't taste fresh. Wow! What a gem we discovered in our town last night! My lovely bride and I had passed by Wine Maestro at least a hundred times going to the retail center across the parking lot, noting that: we'll have to try that place "someday". Last night was someday! Met our friends there and were promptly greeted and seated. My wife had purchased a groupon for 4 for a wine tasting flight. This night the house wine flight was Bosnian Wines. (There was another premium flight option available as well for an up charge) We're somewhat accomplished on wines but never had Bosnian wines and were open to exploration. So glad we did! The flight included 5 different Bosnian wines, 1 white, 1 rose' and 3 reds. Nice pour on the wines, probably a regular half glass, and we found 4/5 wines were surprisingly delicious, 1 was kinda funky but interesting. Bosnia-Herzegovina, who knew? We followed a sheet provided that included wine description and grape varietal/blend info. Nothing snobby about the flight experience just a lot fun tasting, toasting and comparing notes. We ordered several small plates of food (2 of which are included in the groupon) and were served delicious chicken skewers with pita triangles and tzatziki, grilled focaccia, queso fundido and a charcuterie plate, all of which were shared amongst the table. Food was delicious, well-prepared and of very high quality. The menu has some interesting choices on cold/warm starters and a few more robust signature items available. Service was outstanding as we were lucky enough to be served by owners Lisa and John, who have a passion for the business. They have a very interesting story on how they became restaurateurs as a second career. You have to ask them about it! The restaurant itself is contemporary and comfortable, outdoor patio seating as well. There is a bar inside and if wine is not your thing, plenty of beer and non-alcohol options as well. Retail wine store is attached - will check this out next visit. Overall just really surprised at how much fun we had exploring a new wine region with delicious food, great service in a comfortable setting. Wine Maestro will be among our regular date night options. Glad Friday night turned to be "someday"! Highly recommended! read more

My husband and I went here this weekend and were SO disappointed. It started off well with the presentation of the flights, but the wine was sub par. Wanting to taste the food, we ordered appetizers that were ordinary and overpriced. We decided to share a meal and ordered a trio which was $18. Not a bad price, but the amount of food was ridiculous. All the food was also extremely salty - in fact the meat was to salty to eat. Thinking we could finish on a positive note, we ordered chocolate mousse - who can go wrong with that? Well, a cool came out to our table to tell us they didn't have any desserts. What the heck? My husband and I relocated here and hoped to enjoy wine dinners like we used to enjoy. While Chef Shane's menu was delicious and the wine pairings were tasty ; I was sadly disappointed by the size of the dishes and amounts of wine poured per course. Where we used to live in the greater Washington DC area where prices are much higher. We would pay $75 per person but received a full portioned course- usually 4 courses and full pours of a glass of wine per course, occasionally more than one glass per course. Wines and dishes from all over the world. I understand that Wine Maestro has only been doing this for a couple of years but I think there is room for improvement. I give the retail side of the store five stars. They have a very nice selection and Grady was extremely attentive to us and very informative in helping us select wines that would be to our liking. The restaurant side I give four stars. We used a Groupon for the wine flight experience which gave us each five wines to taste plus our choice of an appetizer. We chose the queso fundido which is a spinach artichoke dip and it was very good. The wines were ok--all lower end price points--nothing we felt inclined to purchase bottles of. Our server was not a friendly person--not someone I feel should be serving customers unfortunately. We will return in the future. read more

I met a friend there at 7:30 PM and they close at 10 PM. At 8:40 we were told that they will close at 9 instead of 10 because we were the only customers left ( but still customers!!) and closing at 9 pm she wouldn't need a babysitter for another hour. Excuse me!!?? We still had half a bottle of wine left!! So we actually had to leave with half a bottle of wine left... so rude.You can close early if there are no customers left but not with customer still sitting there and drinking something they ordered. read more

We went out for an outing, only to be very disappointed. We bought a Groupon. The waitress greeted us and shared with us that the Groupon was only for a Red Flight. We shared with her that we do not drink red wine. She offered us a flight of red and white. The white wines were spoiled. These were not fresh opened bottles. We had her to describe the wine, she said it was a bold Chardonnay. We said it tasted odd and spoiled, she described that as bold. As avid drinker of white wine, this bottle was old. Same for the others we were served. The choice were scribble on a piece paper on a note pad for the white and the red wine, we had no idea, because no list. The wines were spoiled, sub-par, not newly opened. Consumers can tell the difference. So sad, our pre-valentine date spoiled by spoiled wine. read more
