Nimbly Appliance Repair - 2023

Advised us what the likely issue was and called back right away with quote on parts and service. They ordered parts on our email ok and 3 days latter scheduled appointment. Their Service Expert Sam came right before agreed time. What a gentleman - great personality. Completed repairs quickly and spent extra time helping us with some issues removing trays. As a result we found a problem with sign Ivan to amount of gross funky water accumulating below the meat tray above freezer. He also on request removed redundant sliding bars in the meat/cheese tray that were driving us nuts. Total bill was as quoted and very reasonable compared to past experience with appliance repair. Sam cleaned up everything and left us with smiles on our faces.

We called Nimbly in February 2024 for a washing machine repair. Dennis Gallon, the owner arrived and after inspecting the washer, advised the cost of repair was not worth it due to the age and condition of the unit. This is understandable and not unexpected. Dennis offered to sell us a scratch-and-dent washer that was the exact same model, but a different colour. We were not concerned about colour, and it was a good option since it was supposedly the same unit - as we were stacking the appliances and were restricted by the space of the laundry closet. As we are conscious of our spending, scratch-and-dent options are a great fit for us. We purchased it on Feb 4 2024. After looking at the appliance, which had minor cosmetic damage, and again confirming with Dennis that it was the same unit, we agreed to purchase it. We borrowed a friend's truck and transported it home. However, it turns out it was not the same model, and would not fit in the laundry closet. After agreeing to take the return, Dennis stated again "I swear it was the same model" but then claimed that I had damaged it in transit. He had no "before" pictures of the unit's condition prior to me transporting it, and we took care of the appliance during transport. He advised he would return the cost of the washing machine less the part required for him to repair it. There was no admission that he sold me the wrong unit, no apology for the inconvenience caused to me by transporting the unit only to discover it could not be used at my home. Not only that, Dennis sent me an e-transfer with the incorrect amount and still owes me money. Since February 15th, I have sent 4 polite emails asking for an explanation of the amount e-transferred to me) without response. I have also called 4 times calls - 2 of which were answered by staff who took down my info and would return my call - Dennis was unavailable, and never called me back, even when I was told I would get a response by end of day by two different staff. Essentially Dennis lied to us about the unit he sold to us, and has now stolen the money that is owed to us.

If I could give zero stars I would. This has got to be one of the worst places to do business with…read more I have an extended warranty with Leon's for my washer. Since I was having an issue I called up my extended warranty to have someone come out and take a look at the unit. I was told Ace repairs would be out. Great, I viewed them online to see if I could find any reviews on them. Sure did, on homestar. Let's just say they weren't very nice. But, I thought let's give them a try. Well I did. Had someone come out. Told him what was wrong with my washer. He didn't move the washer, or bend down to look at it. Simply ran a short cycle and said nothing is wrong with your washer. So I said, why am I getting spots on my clothing then? His response, must be the way you do laundry. He continues, these types of machines don't leak 'oil'. So your not getting it from the washer. Me, aren't you going to open up the unit to see if there is soap build up? He responds no, I ran the washer there is no problem. So, why does Samsung have troubleshooting for this type of issue, if the machine really doesn't cause stains? What if the issue isn't mechanical? You running the machine and listening only indicates if there is a mechanical issue. Ever think of that Ace? I think these companies (Leon's, Samsung) hire repair people at a flat fee. So, in return they come to your home for 5min and leave. Why stay and take apart the unit? They got paid. However, if this was on my dime I'm sure the call would have been much longer and issues to be found.

I cannot recommend this company. At first they did not return my calls in a timely manner. (I…read moreshould have quit then.) Finally, we made contact and they came out to fix my dishwasher. Assured me it was fixed without checking much. It was not. This visit cost me $166. Yes, they came back again and again assured me it was fixed. It worked for a bit, more or less off and on, but finally gave up the ghost. I called another company and got it fixed immediately for $67. OMG. What a difference. It was plugged.... :(

I identified it as the door gasket ... he explained over the phone about the actual door *glass* slowly accumulating a build up of calcium over the years and to make sure the glass was smooth all the way around. Sure enough, finger test revealed grit build up on the bottom of the glass breaking the seal enough to allow water to leak from bottom front and along front panel. Two minute fix with a dish pad and all good to go. Friendly, good service, helpful, knowledgeable. Five stars from me.

When it was all said and done, the cost was $868.36 to fix the dishwasher. When a technician gives an estimate, one counts on the estimate to decide whether a repair is worth it or not. The first time, the repair was $292.12. OK. The second repair, a few weeks later for the same problem, was $183.96. This required two visits because the technician damaged the seal kit. The third repair, a week after that cost us $292.28. If we had known that the total cost would have been $868.36, we would have made a different decision. Not only that, but Waterloo Appliance Service Ltd. wasn't even decent enough to admit that they had botched the repair.

BEWARE - Poor customer service and dishonesty…read more We bought an LG refrigerator from Canadian Discount Appliances, 808 Courtland Ave E, Kitchener, on January 26. About an hour later, we called to request a refund after finding a better option at Costco with free delivery. The store said a full refund was not possible because delivery was already scheduled, but they agreed to refund $50 back to my Mastercard to match Costco's free delivery. Delivery was scheduled for the next day between 8-11am, and we specifically requested a 15-minute call before arrival, which was agreed to. No one called. At 2pm, we were told deliveries were delayed. Around 4:30pm, the delivery driver called yelling, screaming, claiming we didn't open the door--despite never calling ahead. His behavior toward my husband was rude and unprofessional. As of February 6, the promised $50 refund back to my Mastercard was still not issued. When we called the store, the manager was hostile, made false accusations, refused to listen, and hung up. The store manager made statements that were untrue to justify refusing the $50 refund. Very disappointing experience. Poor communication, unprofessional conduct, and unresolved refund. Save yourself the headache and shop at a reputable big-box store instead.
