We've had our 1996 Toyota 4Runner V6 SR5, manual transmission, since 2006 and it's never had major…read morework performed on it and just kept on kicking. It was finally due for a repair and was having power issues between 4th & 5th gear and chugged A LOT when accelerating from 2nd gear. It kept making a buzzing noise from the engine, even when off... and we just lived with the check engine light on. We needed a mechanic who we could trust and afford as times are tight and expensive these days. And Eric with Truth Automotives fit our need! Eric came out to our house and completed a full diagnosis of the 4Runner and explained what likely was the issues causing all of our problems. He went through likely scenarios in detail and how the repair process would go. We opted to have Eric work on the 4Runner out of his garage shop in Culver, although mobile repairs are also an option. Eric emailed me a quote of the estimated cost and price list for all the parts. Eric's quote was very reasonable and we decided to hire him. Eric kept us informed throughout the repair process with what he was seeing, as he was taking the vehicle apart. He kept us informed about parts being delivered and when there was a delay on parts that would effect the finished timeline. Eric was able to diagnose that we needed a new O2 sensor and full tune up, with new spark plugs. Eric also repaired the oil leak with a new oil pan. Fortunately, Eric was also able to clean the fuel injectors so they didn't need to be replaced, which would have costed us $600 more in just parts, so that was an amazing relief. The 4Runner now runs perfectly! The power issues are all gone, the oil is not leaking, feels like a new transmission as the fuel injectors & O2 sensor were cleaned and replaced, and no more Buzzing! Overall Eric did a fantastic job with our 4Runner! If you are looking for an honest, trustworthy mechanic who will communicate throughout your repair process, Eric is your guy!
