I wanted to make sure he was meeting us at the resort so I called 2 days before our trip to confirm that but he never answered. I left a voice mail but it wasn't returned. I tried again the next day and the day of the planned trip, nothing. I asked the resort owner and he said that Tom should pick us up at the resort, as they normally do. Well, needless to say, he never showed. This guy is a joke and I'd never try to hire him again. I talked about the problem at 2 different resorts, just this weekend (May 2016), and they both said they don't recommend him anymore because not showing up seems to be his thing, they've had heard the same complaint from a bunch of people. I don't know how this guy stays in business but he's extremely unprofessional and a real jerk for not even calling to say he couldn't make it. If you need a guide, try Dan Seibert, Deano, Ty Sennett or a couple others but pass on Tom Boley.

The only problem is that the organization that did the restoration, not Round Lake Marina, did not check the engine as they'd assure us they would. So here we are, with a beautiful, cosmetically restored boat, but the darn thing wouldn't start and if it did, it died randomly. Not the ideal situation for someone who doesn't know a motor from a steering wheel. Enter Round Lake Marina. Darrin, Rick and Aaron came to our rescue, gave the boat a nice little tune up at our dock and made sure "girls week" wasn't spent looking longingly at the lake. They've earned a customer for life starting now!!!

There were three levels on the boat with great view from each! The bottom enclosed level was where we did our meal packing. The second enclosed level was air conditioned with plenty of seating, a cash bar and served a buffet style dinner that was very good! We had rented the boat for 4 days at a cost of 200.00/day plus 65.00 delivery fee with pick up of the boat on a Wed morning at 9am. Saturday they came to pick the boat up at 9am, in our estimation that is only 3 days. Not wanting to argue with them in front of kids and family we agreed to pay an extra 150.00 for what they called "an extra day." Needless to say we did not have a good experience and we informed the owner of the house we rented as he recommends MBM. When we told him what had occured he agreed this was not the way he thought this company treated people and stated he would not be sending his rental customers to them considering our experience.

The Lady Chateau is a luxury yacht with indoor and outdoor spaces and a personable, professional…read morecrew. The charter service operates from a little past flood season in the spring until early October. We chartered them for a groom's dinner. The boat is both elegant and comfortable. It is nicely appointed but they don't allow stiletto heels or black soled shoes (it wrecks the decks) so you have a good excuse to kick off your shoes and relax. The cruise was a great alternative to renting a hall or private room in a restaurant and the price is comparable. We had about 25 in our party. It POURED for most of our cruise, but the boat has a large indoor lounge area and there was enough seating for everyone. Besides the captain, we had two really friendly, competent servers who kept us all dry and made sure the bar and buffet stayed well stocked. Food is all buffet style, catered by the Lake Elmo Inn (yum!) and ranges from appetizer trays to full meals. Meals range from lunch buffet ($15/person) to Captain's Choice ($38/person) with a minimum of 20 people. Drinks extra; they have a compact but full bar. Summer on the St. Croix is fleeting and fabulous--take advantage of this while you can!
