I had been craving some of Dave's Hot Chicken for a while as there isn't one close to where I live, so I had the chance today to get some while in Tulsa. I got to the store about 12:45 and they had a few people in line about half the tables inside were full and just one or two tables outside were taken. I got in line and the line was moving pretty slowly. From what I could see the slowness was due to someone in the kitchen shouting orders to the cashier, through the service window. This happened two or three times while I was in line. Right before it was my turn to be served, which had taken me probably 8 to 10 minutes to get from fourth in line to next up, another order came in for a hot box and other stuff. Not sure exactly what is in a hot box but the order was for over $100. Once the cashier got done with that order, I asked if it would slow down my order as I was in a rush and had to be back on the road. She informed me it wouldn't as they have two lines set up in the kitchen. I placed my order and asked for it To-Go as I had already been there a while. After waiting a good 15 minutes, I asked the lady who was staging the orders if I was anywhere near to getting my order. Her first response after looking at the list was "No, it will be a while." I told her I was in a hurry and had to get going. She then said it will be out soon. Let's just say, I had time to refill my drink twice, and I was not drinking it quickly, so probably another 6 to 8 minutes. I went to ask again how much longer it would be and I know she saw me coming towards her and she turned away and went into the kitchen. At that stage I got back in line for the cashier, to ask for a refund. After standing in that line for another three minutes, she had only served one person., with three or four people ahead of me I had run out of time, so I dropped my pager on the counter and walked out. If you like chaos and poor service then this is the place for you. I will probably try other Dave's Hot Chicken locations as I know they can do much better, but this location will never see me again. They were so slow and disorganized I swear they couldn't organize a party in a pub. read more

service sucks,waited 25+ mins for food (only 1 meal and loaded fries) that wasnt warm and not worth it. Went in at roughly1130pm (not realizing they close at midnight, thought it was later for a friday). my friend ordered a meal before i did, i got a #3 and a top loaded fries. cashier was great and no issues. my friends buzzer buzzed maybe 5 mins later, so i was thinking mine was soon after. waited... waited.. 10 mins pass, i go up with my receipt and buzzer. asked the employee as i'm looking at a tray of food and a black container on the counter. she asked for my receipt, looks at it and hands it back and says "it'll buzz when your food is ready" i apologize and say thank you. waited another 10+ mins and now its been over 20 mins since my friend has gotten her food plus MULTIPLE PEOPLE that ordered after me got their food.so i go back up, same process with same employee, she then slides over the SAME TRAY AND CONTAINER that i saw from earlier but looking at me like they been waiting for me. so they just let the food sit there knowing that that food can only belong to me and yet never buzzed or even made effort to find me considering by then it was just me, my friend and a couple who ordered 15 mins after me in the shop.(which they also got their food before me along with few other to go orders) it's now at 1155pm and i feel the need to rush to finish so they can close at 12. no apology, no explanation. now my food is cold. cool. gave them $10~ tip, even CLEANED the table (not a piece of trash or sauce left on table) and considerate (INHALED MY FOOD) enough to leave at 1205 for what? that's why i'm extra upset at myself. read more

I have seen this place online several times with people really enjoying their various chicken tenders so I decided to stop by while traveling. I must say that I'm not sure what all the hype was. Don't give me wrong. The chicken tenders were fine, but it wasn't as explosive as I thought I will come back and try a different variety of the flavors. I got the Dave's #1: 2 Tenders w/ Fries. One tender was mild, the other was medium (you can choose from no spice to reaper... which comes with a disclaimer). Both tenders each sit on a slice of bread with a stack of pickle slices in the corner of my to-go container. The tenders were really good & the combo left me full. Both tenders were well seasoned, very well seasoned, the way I like it. They were big pieces & I dipped 'em in the Dave's sauce here & there. Chicken spots usually have their own sauce that favor each other, Dave's sauce is different & compliments the chicken well. The fries got the job done. While we were in the Tulsa Hills area, it looked like people were standing outside like there was a line. Come to find out, there was a pickup + online orders window to where you don't have to go in (which is what we ended up doing). We placed a delivery order for the Dave's #2: 2 Sliders w/ Fries with medium heat. The delivery bag containing the order was sealed by the restaurant for great service. Dave's Hot Chicken does well in comparison by having eaten the original hot chicken in Nashville. The medium spice level was milder for me. However, the chicken was flavorful and delicious. By the way, the sliders are huge and well worth the money paid. The French fries were seasoned nicely and weren't soggy upon arrival. Accompanying the meal were extra pickles and Dave's sauce. Wow! Finally hot chicken that is hot! I got a 2 tender meal extra hot, and it's a great blend of flavor and burn. Delicious! It's a hearty portion, and the Dave's sauce compliments both the chicken and fries nicely. The restaurant was hopping on a Saturday afternoon, and we took our order to go. It was still delicious after the drive, so I appreciate that. There is both indoor and outdoor seating available. It a causal place. I'll come back again. This was honestly nothing special. The chicken was alright, but I liked the fries better. I got Lite Mild seasoning and it was just messy and didn't really add to the chicken, maybe it would be better if I got the spicier options. The tenders are pretty big. The sauce was also just average. The food was pretty pricey. The cashier we had, I think his name was Ray, was very friendly and helpful, and was the most positive aspect of the visit. The buzzer system for notifying you that your food is ready is convenient, especially since it's pretty loud inside. The graffiti style walls are interesting and fun. There's plenty of seating. Overhyped? I don't think it was. Pricey for what it is...probably. I picked up a #2 (2 sliders with fries) and a side of mac&cheese and it came to $23.00. I like spicy but I'm also not trying to be sitting out on a Friday due to....you get the point. I went with 1 hot and 1 extra hot. They are topped with a kale slaw, Dave's sauce (which is a sweeter version of Slims/Zax/Canes chicken dipping sauce, its not heavy on the Worcestershire either) and of course Pickles (you can add cheese for $0.50 more per slider.) I figured since there was a sticker on each side of the top of the box that it correlated with each sliders placement in the box. I was wrong. That's OK though. So I started off with the hot and after finishing it I was thinking if the other one is hotter I'm going to need another drink! I started off with the extra hot apparently The sliders were tasty and I enjoyed them. The chicken lives up to its hype for me! The girl at the register was super friendly and helpful with educating us on the spice. We did Medium on one and mild on another, which is a good way to try their hotness levels! The slaw was perfectly creamy to offset the spice and pickles were huge. This was my first time ever at a Dave's Hot Chicken. Gotta say, it didn't disappoint! I got the 2 tenders and fries meal and it was great! For the tenders, I got a mild spice level and it still had a decent amount of kick for me (still tolerable). The quality of the chicken was decent and the breading wasn't overly heavy. It was really good! The fries were also great and had some nice seasoning to them. It also came with two slices of bread, which were alright. The Dave's sauce also served as a good compliment with the food. The food was also bought out quickly. The only gripe I have with this place is the price. $12.49 for two pieces of chicken, some fries, and two slices of bread didn't seem very reasonable to me. The chicken pieces are large which is a plus for the price you pay ($13 for 2 tenders and fries). I got extra hot and was disappointed that the extra heat was a powder. I was not a fan of the dipping sauce and the fries were okay. I am not a fan of seasoned french fries and did not notice this in the food description.
