The food is, mostly, a 4-to-5. Over my two visits in a three-day period (one lunch, one dinner) there were only two quality issues. The first is an overall criticism that they are ridiculously stingy with their "Dave's sauce," both on the slider (nearly non-existent) and as a dipping sauce. For what they are charging for their food, they should be including a larger portion of sauce. I mean, they obviously know how large the tenders are, and the little cup is large enough to dip half of one tender...then you can pay for more (if you can even get to the counter - more on that in just a bit). The second quality issue was with the saucy bites. The breading on our order was borderline burned. The hot honey sauce seemed to nearly entirely poured on the bottom of the clamshell they were served in. I really like the tenders, and the bun for the slider is nicely sweet. I ordered mine without pickles or "Kale slaw," as both disgust me, but that's me. The service, however...that is why the rating is mid. The front-line staff collectively have no personality whatsoever. At lunch, our food was served in nice little baskets. At dinner, and may I say go in at dinner at your risk as the lobby and available seating is far too small for the abundance of traffic jamming up and blocking the entire order area with their heads in the clouds. It seems like the overall clientele is unaware of how standing in line and being courteous to others works. Our dinner meal, for dine-in mind you, was served in clamshell go containers. I find that insulting. It was a cold, drizzly evening, so no one was choosing to sit outside, but the seating area , again, is totally inadequate for the crowd size. Even were you to order your meal to-go through the app, you'd be forced to navigate through large groups who apparently think everyone needs to come inside to get a go-order. #vegetarian - Tried the "Not Chicken" Cauli Dave's #3 with my daughter (1 tender, 1 slider with fries). She enjoyed it (and has been before), but since we ordered no spice, it was pretty bland--definitely recommend getting some heat for better flavor. It tastes like what it is: a thick, breaded cauliflower piece on a bun with slaw, pickles, and sauce. Nice to have a vegetarian option, but the price was high--$44.67 for two sandwiches and a small Oreo shake. Fries were warm (not hot) and a bit salty--may want to ask for light seasoning. Surprisingly, it tasted better the next day in the air fryer! Restaurant is colorful with outdoor seating, but tables were dirty when we arrived and had to be cleaned before we could sit. Weird that you order your food standing up, fill your own drinks and bus your own table and they still flip the screen around for a tip. FOOD #1: 2 tenders with bread and fries I think overall the dish is pretty solid. Their spice levels are pretty tolerable and a medium wasn't that spicy. The flavor is a bit unevenly distributed so some sections are bland while others are well seasoned. The chicken is a pretty solid but I think I would've liked a bit more flavor throughout. Fries were tasty and everything tasted good with the sauce. VIBES This place is really spacious with several tables along the windows and a back area that's even more spacious. Heard a lot of buzz about this place when they opened here. Finally went with my family to try it out for lunch. I got the chicken sandwich with fries and sauce. I don't like spicy so I ordered mild (light mild) still a bit spicy but the flavor was good. The portion is great because it's not that big but the price doesn't match the portion IMO. Too expensive. I ordered a strawberry shake for my daughter and it was the worst shake I have tried ever. So order another drink. My youngest got the 2 strips and they were pretty big. I guess I was not impressed. Also the paying machine forces you to tip which is fine but you have to pick up your own food after paying at the front and clean up all your things- again fine but do not force me to tip for simply doing your job. The seasoning is perfect and since it was a slider I thought it had the perfect amount of heat! The bun is sweet like a brioche bread so I thought it paired very well with the massive tender. I have had daves hot chicken many times and its usually a fairly decent experience however: this most recent time we received raw chicken tenders and my nieces and nephews had already eaten several pieces. The most unfortunate part is that when you call in to the restaurant, you aren't able to speak to a person and the automated system says the kitchen can be busy and to go online to reach a rep. Then from there you have to fill out a contact form in order to relay the info. My guess is that the tenders were not fried long enough allowing portions of the thicker strips to be undercooked and very very raw. I hope the kids don't get sick. read more

Dave's has a special place in my heart!! I have visited an embarrassing amount of times and each time is more amazing than the previous. A friend suggested using the honey provided over the chicken. It didn't make sense to me with so many flavors going on but totally works. I hate I didn't learn this trick early on! My go to is the #3 combo with a tender & slider with cheese. The Hot level was really hot, and they have an "extra hot" and "Reaper," which I think you gotta sign a release form. Chicken tenders are sliced thin, and I ordered one tender and one slider meal with crinkle cut fries and a drink. I could barely finish the tender and didn't even bother touching the slider. Ben the fries come sprinkled with spices and my mouth was so burnt I couldn't even taste the fries. Just one thing served here...really good chicken served as hot as you can stand it. Now open until mid-night on Friday and Saturday, the target audience is not Seniors (like me). The crowd is fairly young and a lot of college age young men line up for a great meal. Lots of families with young kids too. The "tenders" are huge, close to being a small entire chicken breast. Not aware of this, I had a hard time eating two sliders. The slaw dressing and sauces make the meal special. If they put these next to any college campus, the lines would be never ending. The tenders were hot n fresh and the spice level was perfect, not too spicy but right on the cusp. Fries were good. Mac n cheese has several areas for improvement. It was runny and the noodles were overcooked. My toddler had their French fries and mac n cheese and barely ate any of it. Everything was pretty decent until I saw a long hair fried into one of my chicken tenders. I took it to the front to notify the manager. I had high hopes, because a friend had told me that Dave's Hot Chicken was good, and my experience was not terrible, but I am not sure that I will be returning. First, the service was good. I placed an online order for pickup and I would have appreciated some visual signage for where to go. There was a long line to place the order, and I initially got in that line, then risked losing my spot by going up to the area that looked like the order pickup area. Nick helped me out and he was very friendly. Second, the chicken was juicy. I usually prefer dark meat, but the tenders at Dave's did not have me wishing for thighs instead. I got medium for my spice levels and I think it was perfect for me on a hot day (not trying to get all sweaty with spicy food). Younger me would have gone for at least Hot, but my stomach is less forgiving nowadays. Third, I enjoyed the sauce. The chicken, in both the tender form and the slider form, didn't really need sauce, but I still enjoyed dipping pieces of the tender in the sauce, although I mostly used the sauce for the fries. However, everything was SO salty. I think I liked the rub on the chicken but it was so so so salty. Had it just been less salty, I think I would have enjoyed the overall balance of flavors more. The fries were also very salty. I can't stand unsalted fries and tend to lean on the saltier side, but I think between the tender and the fries, it was just too much and I couldn't even finish the fries. The slider was the saving grace, because I think the bun helped balance out some of the salt on the chicken. But I really think that overall, everything was too salty. Great experience at Dave's! The fried chicken is halal, so you know it's good quality meat. The 2 slider meal is really just 2 chicken sandwiches, so you can split as long as you don't mind sharing fries. Speaking of which, the fries are crinkle cut for maximum crispness. Chicken was also very moist. I got it medium spicy but didn't find it to be spicy at all. My friend was raving about this place, so I had to check it out. It seems like Hot Chicken spots are popping up all over the metroplex. I don't think I even waited 5 minutes. The Fries - were FANTASTIC!! SUPER well-seasoned, perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I think I honestly prefer their fries over Ricky's, so they take the win here. The Sauce - not very impressive. I read after the fact that some people recommend mixing honey with it so I guess maybe next time I'll try that. Honestly the best way I can describe it is a slightly savory mayo. It just seemed like it was missing something. The Slider - I got the medium spice level and it was perfect! It was the perfect blend of slightly sweet and VERY savory. Definitely not insanely spicy at all but SO juicy and flavorful. Not to mention the chicken tenders are HUGE!! Whenever I think of a slider, I think of a cute little sandwich but these were soooo much bigger than I expected and I definitely couldn't eat two so thankfully my boyfriend came in clutch and ate the second one. We both really enjoyed them! The Coleslaw - seemed to be cream/mayo based which is not my fave. It was still pretty good though but I prefer a vinaigrette based slaw like they serve at Ricky's. The Buns - I'm almost positive that they are Martin's Potato Rolls, which are THE BEST. INSANELY SOFT AND FLUFFY with the perfect amount of sweetness. Absolutely LOVED THEM!!!!!!! So TLDR - honestly - I think all in all, the fries are the only place they have Ricky's beat.
