We came to Dave's Hot Chicken while visiting Canton for a Regional Soccer Tournament. There was a huge line and the tables were full at 12:00 on a pleasant Saturday in early March. It has a fast food vibe and you have the option to order from a kiosk or a person at the counter. We ordered two value meals. My son had the two finger meal and I had the two sliders. There are two things to be aware of: 1. Drinks are not included in the value meal 2. The sliders are really big The chicken comes with fries (crinkle standard), a bunch of pickles, a aoili sauce, and really juicy and delicious chicken. Within 10 minutes of this place there are several CFA's, Bo Jangles, Canes, and a Slim Chickens. So even tho I wanted to try this place out, I was in no hurry. Plus every night I drove by at 7pm or after it was always packed, so I thought I'd wait awhile to go in. Finally had lunch yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised. Once we ordered it took about 15ish minutes to get our food, which I guess was fine. I got the sliders and fries and mac n cheese. The sliders were about three times bigger than I thought they would be, so that was good. And it was really good. Fries were fairly decent. Mac N Cheese? Not so much. Not good. All-in-all, not bad. I'd eat here again, but with so many chicken offerings nearby, not sure how often I'd be back in. P.S. The meals do not include drinks, which is stupid. Keep that in mind. read more

(HALAL FOOD ALERT!!) We had an amazing experience at Dave's Hot Chicken! The food was absolutely delicious. We were excited to find a halal restaurant while visiting family in Ohio. I went with the mild spice slider with fries, and it was the perfect balance of flavor and seasoning without being too spicy. My husband went for the reaper tender and an extra hot tender, which were exactly the level of heat he was looking for. The reaper tender definitely lived up to its name--it was mouth-burning hot, and they even made him sign a waiver before digging in! He said the spice overpowered the flavor of the chicken, but the extra hot tender was perfect and still packed a punch. We also ordered an Oreo milkshake to cool down the heat, which was a perfect choice! The Dave's sauce paired beautifully with the seasoned fries and really elevated the meal. "Dave's Hot Chicken" isn't your run of the mill, commercial, chicken spot. It is ten steps ahead. But give me a second to explain. Pulling into the parking lot, you see the unique façade of the building. It screams fun! Inside mirrors the outside. It has a modern youthful feel. At the counter, that staff shares that energy. They took our order and said it is made fresh. I know that's code for you will have to wait a bit. But trust me, it's worth it. When the order is done, they hand you a black container and send you off to the races. They forgot a few items from the order, and owned it. They gave it to me right away. After it was time to eat. The fries had a little kick to them, that worked. The cheese sauce used for dipping was okay. Now it was time for the chicken sandwich. I am pleased to report that, we have a winner. This was an incredible sandwich, packed with all the punch. The chicken was crunchy with a meaty inside. The powder they covered it with was not to overpowering. The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy as well. But the prize went to the Dave Sauce! It is arguably, the best sauce on chicken I ever had. I almost wanted to ask for more sauce, for the road, but common sense stopped me. With the slightly toasted Hawaiian bread to put it together, the flavor was immeasurable. We visited early on a Friday night, approx 5:40pm, there were two parties in line ahead of us when we ordered. We found a table immediately but waited nearly 30 minutes for our food. When my husband went up to ask what was taking so long... he was just offered a slushy, which he declined. By the time we got our food, the restaurant was packed, no available tables and the line to order was out the door. I've picked this up from ordering online before and it was ready when requested, so I don't know if this night's wait was a caused by staffing issues. Overall, the food was good. Make sure you have some time to wait... Waited 20 mins for 3 sliders! Not many people inside at all when order was placed. While I was in the very young front desk staff had time to braid each other pony tails and check all their snaps. Could have wiped down some of the empty tables or counters even stocked some stuff something. This is exactly why I'll never leave any of my staff in training alone expecting them to act accordingly. We have to stop having an entire staff of all inexperienced young people with no one to guide them, or maybe more thorough training explaining what makes people want to come back to their job and if they don't they'll have to find a new job. Where to begin? I guess its a love hate relationship. I'll start with the negative first. When you go the wait for the food seems to take forever. We have been there several times and it is always a long wait, even if there's a small amount of people in the restaurant. On one evening we asked if they could put some of the mild chicken spice over the cheese fries. A brunette female from the kitchen area snarkily called out, "We don't do that here". And had a back and forth with the cashier over the cheese fry request. Honestly it took longer to complain about my request then to simply shake a spice can above the cheese fries once or twice. Now on to the love part... OMG this is the most tender and delicious chicken! The spices they use are addicting. I recommend starting low and working your way up on spice levels. Hot to Reaper have a good amount of burn on the tongue. They even have you sign a waiver when ordering the Reaper tenders. They are HOT! (Around the level of Quaker Steak & Lube Triple Atomic Wings) And I highly recommend adding a couple extra tenders on your order as your going to crave them later. This place has become our go to for chicken. I truly hope they improve on the wait times and work on the employees demeanor. Otherwise this place is well worth the drive and time. Alright, let's see if the hype is real, or just hype! Location/Parking: 4.5 Located in the old Moe's Southwest Grill on Whipple, next to Jersey Mike's. Lots of parking, even on a busy lunch rush at 12:30pm. Easy in-out. Counter Service: 4 The woman who took my order was perfectly nice. Seeing as this spot is brand new, I would have liked a "have you dined with us before?" But that's just me. Also, for having a line to the door, it was a little strange that they only had one person taking orders: and the other register closed. From the time I ordered till the time I got my food (dine-in) was 12 minutes. A little on the slow side, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. Food: 4.5 I ordered the #4 meal, which is a slider with fries combo. The combos here do not come with a drink, so I added a regular soda. You have a choice to make with spice level, from "no spice" all the way up to "reaper". I played it safe and went with "medium". I'd say the word "slider" is probably a bit misleading. It's certainly bigger than what most people consider a slider. This was basically a small to regular sized sandwich. The chicken was actually really good. Super juicy with just the right amount of crunch. Came out hot and fresh. As far as the medium spice level, I was a little disappointed. On a 1-10 scale of heat, medium felt like a 2. Next time, I'll definitely try something hotter. The sandwich came with I assume their house sauce, as well as what they call a "kale salad". To me, that just seems like fancy marketing to make it sound more hip, or healthy. It was just the lettuce garnish you'd get on basically any sandwich. There were three thick cut pickles on the side. Nice to have them on the side for those who don't like pickle overload. The one tasting note I noticed after, was that the rub they use has to have a little sugar. There's definitely an underlying sweetness, which in my opinion, was a nice compliment. The fries were crinkle cut, and really well seasoned. I'd have preferred just a little more crunch, but that's being nit-picky. Definitely one of the better fries out there. Last, the sauce that came on the side, which I'll call "Dave Sauce"... was basically the same Chick-Fil-A ripoff sauce that everyone and their brother in the chicken game has tried to emulate. It was sweet, savory and creamy. But again, not particularly original or unique. Price/Value: 2.5 Coming in a $9.99 for a smaller sandwich and small serving of fries, it felt more like a $7.99 price point to me. The $9.99 price point would have been fine had it included a drink. Unfortunately it did not, so I had to add one for $2.29. Out the door, with tax and 15% tip I was at $16.07. Certainly on the higher end for what I got. If you added one of their slushies or milkshakes you're gonna end up at $20+ before it's all said and done. Is it Five Guys bad? Nope. But you're also now competing against promotions like Chili's $10.99 three-for-me, which includes a starter, entree and drink. That's a better deal for just as good of food. So spend wisely. Overall: 4 stars First impression was a solid one. Service was great, food was on point. The price was a little more than I would have liked, which just means I'll come here less often than most other spots. Overall, I'd happily recommend Dave's Hot Chicken. read more

Got #4 Slider meal medium heat , it was a nice big piece of chicken good heat , bun is good like the sauce, I never get pickles on my sandwich I think it takes over the taste of the sandwich. Pickles are good on the side . Kale slaw is really good. The fries weren't hot that's why I gave one less star but well seasoned. I love that they have Gold Peak teas ! The craziest part is that there were SO MANY workers. Standing around, doing nothing but hanging out. This was hands down the worst piece of chicken I have ever had. I got the slider with fries. The chicken was dry and old, not a bit of juice, and the breading was actually tough. It was way overcooked and basically inedible. The fries were also overcooked and cold. The microwave couldn't revive any of it. Please take this review as a stern warning to going to Dave's chicken. Number one I walked in there with my partner and we had wanted to try it, we got in line and couldn't help but notice the extremely high prices of every menu item. We decided it was no matter and proceeded to order what we wanted and paid for the food. Two meals come out to $30 and I was surprised at that so I had asked "this comes with a drink right"? To which the cashier responded no, to my shock I replied "I'm sorry that's insane" and even the cashier agreed. We got our food very fast but it absolutely did not look like Dave's hot chicken and certainly wasn't hot temperature wise (food was cold). The sandwich we received was a single tender placed between a burger bun 70% of the bite was coleslaw which we found unappealing. Extremely disappointed with our decision to spend our money here we continued to the next portion of the meal which was a pathetic little shrimp piece of chicken on top of a giant eagle like slice of bread that was flavorless and just bread idk what to say about it, it was a expensive piece of sad bread like from my kitchen. The store seating was arranged oddly as I had to try to sit in different positions to not let my food get blasted by the AC unit. The drink received with the meal (EXTRA $3) regular size drink was so puny it was that of a kids meal at chucky cheese.
