great food was really good and spicy. the chicken was fresh and the flavors were nice. loved the sauce.

I prefer the Dedham location. The food seemed like it was slightly better quality there. Service was friendlier and the space was nicer in Dedham as well. Overall, I prefer Dave's to other similar chicken spots. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Large Top Loaded Fries, Daves Big Trio - Chicken Shop Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

The chicken was insanely fresh, crispy, and packed with flavor. I went with the double sliders combo and the "mild" spice level was perfect--great heat but still super flavorful. The chicken was juicy, the seasoning was on point, and the Dave's sauce tied everything together perfectly. The fries were also excellent--crispy, well-seasoned, and a great side to the chicken. Portions were generous and everything tasted like it was made fresh. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and the service was quick even though it was busy. You can tell they take pride in the food and the experience. Easily one of the best fast-casual chicken spots around. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

Fire level strikes me as a sliding scale from sugar to spice, as any hothead will tell you, it's the sweet that relieves the heat. And so it is, with an inconsistency in delivered tongue numbness not guaranteed by the name/flag color. Hot one day is mild the next, which is a shame. Not a shame? The size of a tender. Thought the price a bit high for two tenders, or the most popular combo: a slider and a tender. But nay! These baddies are basically half a breast each. Solid fry on the bird, and if and when they get their seasoning game together, this could be a poultry go-to. But they don't (yet), so it's a convenience when passing. read more

I'm glad that despite the name being Dave's "hot" chicken they still have chicken with no spice. I got the #3 which comes with a slider sandwich and a tender with fries. The fries are crisp on the outside and soft in the middle which is just how I like a krinkle fry to be. The sandwich was good! It's a smaller tender inside a small bun. The tenders are pretty big and dipped in the Dave's sauce makes the taste buds dance. My friend got the Mac and cheese side which was delicious! Perfect amount of cheese. Service was interesting, he did answer my questions but definitely annoyed and didn't want to be there. Very busy spot today! Only a few tables inside and they do allow for picks up from online ordering. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken - Dave's #3 1 Tender & 1 Slider w/ Fries - Chicken Shop Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

Ordered Dave's to go - they finished making my meal before I even picked it up. Drove 55 minutes home and food was still warm. Love it. I ordered 2 tenders with fries, a Hi-C slushie & mac and cheese. Honestly, skip the mac and cheese. Nothing to write home about. I love how they added pickles to the plate. Delicious. I was going to order an extra tender ($4.99 extra) but the portion of the 2 tenders already made me full. Dave's sauce is delicious. I love how they have slushies and milkshakes a long with soft drinks. Please make a Dave's Hot Chicken in the Providence area!! read more

Decent fried chicken. I actually tried a different Dave's location for the first time recently and was so impressed that I came here a few days later! I think the trick to getting the "best" chicken here is you got to have it fresh. Eat it as soon as possible. I made the mistake of bringing it home and it was not as good as the other location where I ate my meal right away. Also, ask for extra sauce if you like to dip ;) read more

Typical Dave's hot chicken. If you haven't been before it's essentially fast food but on the higher end. It's tasty but nothing super special. The kids love it. This location the food wasn't quite as good as the RI location we've been to. The bread was very cold. It's super loud inside. Service was good. Food was decently fast out. Price is as to be expected. I keep forgetting to check in before I order to get a free drink. Next time! read more

First time at Dave's Hot Chicken earlier. I must say first impression was great. The shop is open with bold coloring. The cashier was all smiles; very friendly. We were served right away. I ordered 4 sliders coming with fries and drink. The sliders were awesome. The only negative was I was not expecting bite size sliders; I guess I didn't read thoroughly. Fries were really spiced nicely and I did enjoy their sauce. read more

TL;DR: Do you like fried chicken? Do you like spicy food? If you answered "yes" to one of the previous questions, go here - no question! Even if you can't handle heat, you have a "Lite Mild" or a "No Spice" option. The chicken is cooked to perfection and complimented wonderfully by the sauce and coleslaw. Storytime: I may have mentioned in an earlier review that my parents are immigrants, and I am a first-generation American. Among the things I've introduced my parents to are football, rock music, and spicy food. (not an exhaustive list) When my folks saw me putting hot sauce on [almost] everything, they couldn't understand it. In their minds, heat = overpowering pain! It took a while, but I got them to the point where they appreciate a little heat and the fact that it has flavor on its own and enhances what is on the plate. There is a caveat, however: the heat has to be executed just right, and Dave's does this perfectly! Rather than simply a sauce slathered on the chicken, Dave's uses a phenomenal blend of spices to achieve all-around perfection. Today, I was daring enough to try the Extra Hot... one step away from their pinnacle of spice, the Reaper. Even this doesn't hit you with a wall of fire; it starts with a gentle sweetness, and the heat comes. I'm not going to lie... I want to try all of them, including the Reaper, as I would love to experience all their spice blends. However, knowing they require a signed waiver for the Reaper, I might chicken out (I didn't intend the pun, but it works out, so I'll own it). Flavors are crucial, don't get me wrong, but they are only part of the story. There is also preparation, and the chicken is cooked with the kind of craftsmanship and perfection Chick-fil-A only dreams of. The chicken is cooked to utter perfection! It is fresh from the fryer (not time under a lamp), unbelievably tender inside, and with the coveted, crisp, and craggily crust outside. Bread to meat ratio is spot on as well. Their schtick is interesting as they only have tenders or sliders (sando with a tender within). We could debate the merits of this vs. having a round patty, but from my perspective, what they do works! The sandwich doesn't fall apart, and the bread-to-chicken ratio is spot on. On that note, the sandwiches are done very well. The amount of sauce and coleslaw is perfect! Didn't fall apart either. Then there are the fries. These, like the chicken, are cooked and spiced to perfection. They are served fresh out of the fryer also. Too many places serve sorry excuses for fries and don't even salt them. Here, you get a (not spicy) blend of goodness! Service-wise, everyone was friendly, welcoming, and helpful! I was here just as the lunch hour was starting. It took just over 10 minutes to get my order. This wait is very reasonable considering how fresh everything is. Popeyes can hand you a sandwich before you're done paying, but it spent time lounging under a lamp. If you want quality, you have to be willing to wait a bit. The location was spotless, and everything was kept very clean. This includes the restrooms as well. There is good music playing and very cool art throughout the restaurant. I especially like the Brain Tree. I like puns and plays on words, okay? Their prices are reasonable for a fast-casual spot, especially in light of their quality. BTW - I know I threw some shade at Chick-fil-A. I did visit one once, and what I found did not impress me. It was okay and appeared to be something I could easily make at home. This is not the case with Dave's - not even close. Trivia: Braintree is named after an English town: "Branchetreu." There is some fascinating history and linguistics! After some necessary gymnastics, it can be interpreted as Rivertown. (Src: https://blogofstench.livejournal.com/989098.html) Now, a curious essay on the dine-out market: Something interesting is happening in this world. It seems the quality of full-service restaurants is slowly falling. My Hall of Fame has gone from five to one, and only because I haven't been in that last one for a hot minute. Fast food is working to improve. It is still far from perfect, but I've noticed improvement. Fast casual is really up and coming, and many are shining. Five Guys, Blaze Pizza, Cava, Smashburger, and especially Dave's are all of a quality I wouldn't have expected. I believe what's happening is this: inflation + decreased quality at full-service places. This has turned some (including myself) away and sent us searching for other options. Fast food is dominated by a couple players who have taken note. It has also opened a need for quality fast casual. I believe this is one of the things leading to the rise of incredible spots like Dave's! I am curious to see what the future holds, and I hope, whatever it may be, that Dave's is killing it! read more

I'm a huge fan of Dave's and I'm happy to see new locations pop up around Massachusetts. The vibe inside the restaurant is very hip and the staff are very welcoming. The prices are reasonable too. I got the hot slider which had a good amount of heat. Previously I tried medium and it didn't taste spicy to me. The combo comes with a great amount of fries and the toppings go well with the slider. The chicken is amazing and cooked very well. It does remind me of Nashville. The sauce is great and I found myself dipping the slider and fries in it. read more

First time trying Dave's Hot Chicken, definitely did not dissapoint. Went there on a Friday at around 6PM, packed full of teenagers and adults. I would highly recommend ordering online before getting there to skip the wait if you're going during a busy time. Their chicken slider was delicious! Really enjoyed the kale slaw in the slider. Ordered the hot slider, I think it was perfect definition of "hot". The sauce was good, and the seasoned fries were a nice touch compared to salty fries you get at most fast food restaurants. The actual restaurant itself was pretty cool too, I liked the graffiti walls and the chicken mascot. For the price (around $10-15 per meal) I'll be going back to get my fried chicken fixing. read more

Came in the other day to grab some chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese. One of us tried medium, and the other tried hot. The hot was pretty hot, enough to kind of get you sweating a little bit. The medium was more mild than mild. I'm not sure if they may be mixed it up or not, but it had essentially no spice to it. It was really good though, so not a huge complaint. but if that is their normal medium, then I'm not sure what the mild would be. The macaroni and cheese was very good, the pickles were delicious, and the sauces were really good. The service was quick and nice, and overall it was a nice experience. Dave's Hot Chicken - Chicken Shop Near Me - Braintree, Massachusetts

Dave's Hot Chicken is a chicken-based restaurant chain that has seen a rapid expansion in recent years. From when I first tried and discovered them in Los Angeles to seeing them reach many parts of Massachusetts very quickly likely with Drake's backing of the brand among other figures, I have likely been to most of the Dave's open in the Eastern part of Massachusetts- and for good reason too. The staff at this Dave's are hardworking and are relatively lighthearted while still prepping up great food in a timely manner. Most times from ordering to receiving food will be about 5-10 minutes and here it was in that range and not too busy later in the day. The dining area is relatively clean with some small litter that is nothing to write home about. It is usually taken care of swiftly. I usually go with the two-tender combo which comes with fries, bread, and Dave's sauce. I was pretty miffed about the switch from the small round plastic containers with sauce to packets. I'm unsure if it varies by location, but I'd imagine the Dave's sauce being maybe cooler, but not straight out of a fridge. It's a stark contrast with the spice and temperate heat of the fresh chicken. That is a relatively minor problem when you dig in. That Dave's sauce goes great being used with the chicken, fries, and bread- something I can't say for many other sauces. They have several spice levels for the chicken too. I used to go for reaper and people would fear for me (for good reason too!) In more recent years though, I have shied away from reaper in favor of a step down, which is extra hot I believe. Reaper will wreck your stomach the next day so definitely not for the faint of heart, but it is a joy in the moment as the spice and seasonings are very flavorful on the chicken and (when they are seasoned) the fries. Overall most Dave's locations provide me with a consistent experience that I enjoy to some degree each and every time. The Braintree location is a decent spot, so stop by if you're on the way home. It's only a minute off of 93! read more

We order through the app . Pick up was easy and fast. We ate our food there. The interior was pretty. Service was fast and staff cleaned the tables, pretty efficiently. Got the slider and tender with cheesy fries also got the Mac n cheese. The tender and slider were crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Spicy level was perfect at medium. Oh boy, strap in folks, because I'm about to take you on a whirlwind tour of my latest culinary escapade, which, spoiler alert, involves chicken that could double as a flamethrower! So, there I was, escaping the vortex of chaos known as Starbucks, when lo and behold, I spot Dave's Hot Chicken playing peekaboo in the parking lot. New kid on the block, you know? Heard the buzz but never gave it a whirl. My wife and I, being the adventurous souls we are, decided to dive headfirst into the world of spice - but hey, I'm no self-proclaimed 'Spice King' like those TikTok daredevils who seem to be in a race to incinerate their insides. I like my spice with a side of actual flavor, thank you very much. Anything that scorches past that line isn't food; it's a biohazard, probably good for stripping paint or something. But, when in Rome--or rather, at Dave's--I had to go for the gusto and ordered the Reaper. Yep, that's right, I had to sign a waiver. Talk about meeting your maker! The food arrived faster than a speeding bullet, fresh and steaming. I started with the "Very Hot" to warm up the engines. It was a revelation, folks. I'm a bone-in purist--why mess with divine design, right?--but this boneless wonder was moist, spicy, and tasted like a little slice of heaven. It came with pickles, bread, and some killer fries. Then came the Reaper, served like it's the last surviving member of a rare species. They brought this bad boy out like it's a minority in America - isolated, boxed, and treated with fear My first bite? Divine. But here's the trick - you gotta wolf it down quick, or you'll turn into a fire-breathing dragon. A few bites in, and I swear I was having a family reunion with long-gone relatives. The heat was apocalyptic. I tried to play it cool when the staff checked in, but who was I kidding? They kindly offered shakes, and despite not being a shake aficionado, my brain was sending SOS signals. The vanilla shake was a lifesaver. It was a standoff between me and the Reaper, and let's just say my pride left the building. The aftermath felt like hosting a BBQ inside my stomach. Picture volcano eruption and molten lava when I sat on a toilet, sorry TMI but hey, I lived to tell the tale. Dave's Hot Chicken? The taste is phenomenal. The Reaper? A journey best left to braver souls. But I'll be back for the art on the walls and the chicken that doesn't require a waiver. Want to see the walls move? Go for the Reaper. Otherwise, stick to the rest of their mouthwatering menu. The chicken is crispy, the fries are a dream, and the crew? Absolute gems. Can't wait for my next visit - sans the volcanic experience! read more

These are popping up all of a sudden and I finally got to try one. The chicken was very good, crispy and juicy. There was a good amount of meat and even though they call their sandwich a slider, it's bigger than that. I also thought the slaw and pickles were fresh and complemented the sandwich. The only complaint was that the hot sauce is not very hot and there isn't enough on a sandwich. The good news is they have two hotter levels of sauce. The space is new and was clean and well maintained. The service is pretty basic fast food counter service, but nothing bad. I would go back again. read more

I placed an online order through the website, and came to pick it up. The woman at the register was so unfriendly when I walked up to the counter. Not a smile, a thank you, or a have a good day. When I got to my car, I realized they had gotten my order wrong. With some trepidation I went back inside. I tried to point out that the order was wrong -- showing her my email order confirmation, and the difference in what I ordered and what I got. She said rudely, "I know what you ordered" as she ripped the receipt off my bag. She continued to try and convince me that what I ordered and what I got where the same ($7.99 for Cauli Slider was the same as $4.99 for Cauliflower nuggets). It wasn't until the manager walked up and said they had gotten my order wrong that they did anything about it. The name on my order receipt was Jayden, so I presume that was the rude person at the register who gave me my online order. She really shouldn't be in this customer-facing role. As a first timer here, I wasn't all that impressed. Definitely over hyped in regard to the quality of food produced. The plate I received was put together very sloppy. Now keep in mind, I went at a time that it was empty. No lines or anything, yet my food was thrown together as if it was rushed. You have to pay extra for more sauce but it also wasn't given to me in my order. Good thing I checked before leaving! The fries were below average and definitely frozen first. The sandwich itself didn't have much flavor. The chicken did not appear to be seasoned but the batter or cajun dry rub they use on the outside is where I assumed they expected it to come from. But it wasn't enough. Can't see myself returning here. Chick Fil A got them beat by far. Even Canes is better and I don't even care for Canes either! Place was clean though. read more

Wow. We drove here to get five guys and as we were walking in realized it was the grand opening weekend of this place. Something about it drew us in and even though the line was to the door, we waited in line anyways. The line moved fast, and the service was attentive and efficient. We only had to wait for our food so long because there were so many people. Even then, I think once the hype calms a little, the food will come out super fast I think. I could see the managers actually helping the staff and doing their share, and it seemed like a very tightly-run ship: clean, efficient, and quality. On one of the signs it said the chicken would "blow your mind", and I guess I'm just pessimistic so I didn't really think it would be anything crazy, just good. When I tell you that first bite was The depth of flavor in this chicken is insane, the breading is perfectly crispy but not too thick, and the meat is tender and juicy. I think it helps that the seasoning isn't sauce-based and is more of a powder(?). The slider was also huge, I didn't even get to my tender. The fries are crispy and flavorful, which sometimes isn't the case with crinkle cuts (which usually get soggy after a while). The pickles are crunchy and fresh, and Dave's sauce is reminiscent of a less-sweet Chick Fil A (in a good way, it doesn't overpower the flavor). Also, I usually hate slaw but the kale slaw on the sandwich was a perfect addition to the texture and flavor. I really hope they keep up the quality as this place stays in business, it's a welcome addition and I can't wait to go back. read more
