Unfortunately the owner Ross did not provide the same level of courtesy and respect his employees do. I am 57 and ride gently. I test rode the bike on their lot, and owned it less than 24 hours. I rode it less than a few miles on a paved road near home to discover it didn't perform as expected. I brought it back cleaner than it was at delivery. I thought agreeing with the owner to cover 6-10% was more than generous for the hassle and any tiny expenses, but when I arrived back to return the unit the owner got more involved and changed the terms. Chris my sales person vouched for me, knowing my character and the overall situation, but it wasn't enough for the owner Ross. According to him there is no return policy on bikes. He made an exception for me, and kept 15% of my money on a return instead of the agreed 10.. In that conversation with him, Ross whined about loosing money via credit card fees and taxes. Furthermore he went on to say that the transaction was "painful and inconvenient" indicating he was still doing me a nice favor by returning 85% of my money. As the conversation unfolded, I suspect Chris took some heat for the level of service he had provided. Chris over delivered and under promised, not the other way around. In the end I was surprised to learn the owner was more interested in the restocking fee, knowing good and well the bike could be resold as brand new (no different than the lot rides myself and others had taken). He would not consider the idea that future business and relationships are more valuable than restocking fees. I am on my way back to the Trek shop to purchase a unit from them. Trek understands this concept. In fact, they offer a 30 day, no questions asked, full refund in the event a unit doesn't fit well or perform to expectations. I'll also be purchasing a second bike for my wife, parts and gear. Provided it goes as good business should, I'll be referring businesses elsewhere. If Ross can ever grasp value in changing his policy to a more consumer friendly one, I'd love to work with his staff and his outfit in the future because I like supporting my local shop. Until then, I'm afraid I'll have to hand over my hard earned money to corporate giants. What a shame.

Recently I started riding my road bike and it started to become more uncomfortable with my feet and hands getting numb, a friend recommended me going to Elite to get my bike fitted... So I I made an apt, met Daniel for my fit (cool chill cat) then he starts getting in depth about what he was going to look for. After riding for about 10 minutes he did some measurements then he started adjusting the seat hight, saddled position, cleats and my bars. all I know is with the changes Daniel made my bike feels amazing and my hands and feet no longer get numb.. I'm on the hunt for a new bike shop, and Elite Cycling didn't exactly win me over…read more I popped in looking for a seatpost replacement, and the overall vibe and attitude were not the best. They told me I should just fix it, and to their credit, gave me some tips. The thing is, we're moving, selling our house, packing, etc. and I'd rather they just help out with a seatpost or offer to schedule a time for me to have them fix it. To me, it felt dismissive. I then inquired about a new bike, something I've been excited about the past few years and saving up for. I told them my budget for it which is on par for a small car, and they said "We aren't gonna have anything in that range." I was a bit shocked, and they clarified it's more due to Covid disrupting the supply vs demand. I know that's an issue, but again, dismissive to be shot down when I have the cash ready to go for a good new road bike. Overall it felt like they couldn't wait to be rid of me in the five minutes I was there. I got to know the folks are two now defunct bike shops and actually enjoyed going in to them. This one definitely didn't bring it for me like the past ones. I get it, they're in a high dollar area and can afford to get by without the friendly neighborhood shop feel, but it's not for me, and I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

I am SO happy that the Bicycle Depot has come to Waldo! I have two Trek bicycles, and both of them…read moreneeded service. Thankfully, I live fairly close to the Depot and so was able to bring both of them over without difficulty on the same day. I had called ahead and explained the situation to Dave; he was extremely friendly and helpful and assured me that yes, he would be able to take care of both of my bikes and they'd be ready to ride again within the week. He was as good as his word! Within 3 business days, he called me to let me know the bikes were ready. While I was at the shop, I had several questions regarding the usual care of my bicycles. He was extremely patient and helpful and explained several points of bicycle maintenance, such as regular cleaning (do NOT hose down a bicycle!), airing up the tires (and the importance of relying on a pressure gauge, not how full the tire "feels"), the finer points of shifting, and what to do if your chain slips off. I know his time is valuable--there were lots of bikes in the shop still needing to be worked on--and I appreciate him taking the time to help me be a better bicycle owner and rider. It's good that the shop is open both days on the weekend; since I work on Saturdays, I rely on Sundays to get many of my errands done. It's nice to have a business that I can visit at a convenient time and day. Dave and his crew have won my loyalty! There's nowhere else I'm going to bring my bikes for service (or for general questions). Bicycle Depot is the BEST!!

They said it's usually same day service, but they were very busy so it might not be ready until Monday. I told them no rush. It must have been just an hour or 2 and they called saying it was ready. We went back to pick up the bike and the owner helped us put it back in the car. Very reasonably priced! Amazing service! I would highly recommend this bike shop to everyone.

A tube replacement ran me less than $30, and yeah, I could get a tube and do it myself, but my time has value and these folks are experts. Southwind has a great selection of bikes if you are looking to upgrade or even invest. But maybe their best asset is the local knowledge of the staff, whether it's recommendations for off-road biking or organizing community bike rides. I'm still a novice, and I'm probably too old to really take too many chances, but they gave me the lowdown on Shawnee Mission Park's trails. All of the staff are passionate about cycling of any kind and that comes though in their service. Can't recommend highly enough!

I got my bike completely tuned up and they helped me solve two problems: hauling my step through on a bike rack (they had a "Lobster Claw"), and because of a prosthetic elbow, I have a lot of pain, so they are going to get me fixed up with new handles bars with a better position. My other "bike" is actually a "Trikke." I needed new brake levers and cables. A lot of shops have turned me away because they weren't interested in learning about the Trikke. The folks at Bike Stop were glad to help and got on line to learn about both of my "toys." It's so rare to find people that really love their customers, but the folks at Bike Stop get it. Amazing experience today with Ryan. I bought a pair of boots before season and skied them 3 times…read moreand they are terribly uncomfortable and painful to wear. I lose feeling in my toes and feet within 15-20 minutes and the pain becomes unbearable. Ryan worked with my boots for an hour and finally decided they were a size to small which was causing the pain. We were able to go to the next size up and put in heal cup inserts and now they are perfect. I will never forget the customer service and conversation I had today. Thanks Flatlanders.
