Long story short got run around from the owner about warranty times and excuses on why there not going to honor a warranty or stand behind there work. When it came down to brass tax I even offered to pay for a new part out of pocket as long as they would cover there labor. Any reasonable shop owner would stand behind a $600 job especially if the customer is willing to pay for a new part. Evidently not this place ... Specifically stated that they stand by there work and the parts they install at time of purchase If your looking for a shop that is honest look somewhere else in my experience this place is not it. TLDR: Pay $600 for part / repair, comeback with repair paperwork after part breaks only to get runaround and excuses on why there "warranty" does not apply to me taking my dollars else ware.

Well, Al's Auto Repair replicates the experience of dropping your car off at that cousin's or buddies house to get checked out when you think there might be something wrong with it, only with the reassurance of licensed, knowledgeable, prompt and super-friendly service 100% of the time. The staff consists of a total of three: two mechanics and the proprietor, Al, himself. He will always try to work with you regarding payment and usually takes into consideration the car and type of work that needs to be done before charging. For example, if you can purchase certain parts, he won't charge an arm and a leg for labor; you buy the oil and filter for your car he may only charge you 10 bucks for the dirty work. My last experience there was less than a month ago when the battery in my '06 Jetta died and I had to get a new one. He hooked me up with a brand new one from the Carquest right across the street and after the purchase of the battery and labor the deal was of such magnanimity I can swear that Al is the definition of the good-natured, compassionate, neighborhood mechanic. Al doesn't talk down to his customers and genuinely cares about the work he does. You get a real "my word is my bond feel" here which goes a long way considering how other mechanics run their shops. I first learned of Al's through my parents a few years ago. They've had a bit of work done on their respective cars as had I and am happy to refer work to him whenever the opportunity arises.

Al and his son are very personable and professional and I trust them with my car. I highly recommend them and have referred my aunt to them as well. I am a satisfied and loyal customer!

I then decided to do what I should have done in the first place: drive the car from Plainfield to Alsip to have Jim Jordan from La Crosse Auto Werks take a look at it. He told me that he thought it might just be a valve timing problem that could be fixed fairly easily and inexpensively, and he turned out to be right. I wound up only spending about $250 for parts and labor. I appreciate that Mr. Jordan doesn't try to scam people out of money, which in my experience is pretty tough to come by with automotive repairs. He is also very friendly, and takes his work seriously. I will not bring my vehicles anywhere else!
