So nice, I almost wanted to buy his house. He sold his house shortly thereafter. My interest was piqued. He told me about John Stapleton. Some months pass. My wife and I decide it's time to sell our home, so we call John. John stops by one afternoon. Two and a half hours later we had some terrific insights into the housing market, photography, art, painting (John is a bit of a renaissance man with a great sense of humor) and a formidable to-do list of things that John suggested in order to get our home ready for market. When we got a little closer to the bottom of the to-do list, we set a "listing" date and continued to chip away. John stopped by on the Friday afternoon that the listing would hit the MLS and told us we were ready. He also told us that he would be erecting our very own billboard, with some of his interior photos of the house up in the front yard. It looked awesome. I wanted to buy my house. Now, your mileage may vary on this but, the folks from the first appointment to see the house on that Saturday morning made an offer. We followed John's suggestions and we were ready. Of course, there was back-and-forth, twists-and-turns and some "oh no" moments, but every time we hit a bump in the road, John managed to smooth it over while maintaining an even keel and a positive spin. His advice and negotiation savvy led a couple of stressed-out sellers down the path to a sale. The Godfather could not have had a better Consigliere. Back at the office, John's Transaction Coordinator, Michelle Iannacone, kept us in the (up to the minute) loop as to what was happening on the less glamorous but totally necessary document and procedural side of things. It was great to get hot, off the press tidbits from Michelle about how things were going behind the scenes. We certainly never could have predicted the favorable outcome (in an unfavorable market) that we experienced with Focus Realty, but when we met John, both my wife and I had a really good feeling. He listened to every word and was genuinely interested in helping us achieve our goals. We can't speak highly enough of John, Michelle and the little thing he calls Focus Realty. We would enlist their help again in a heartbeat, except that we're moving to Portugal. If you are not moving to Portugal, you should consider Focus first.

Since then, this company has called and emailed me many times. I thought not responding would send the message they need, but instead this morning I get a text message from them. Basically, I asked to be removed from their call list, and said that they should re-think their approach at reaching out to people. Texting? Seriously?! This person then responded, argumentatively, calling me hostile and asking what I do for a living. So, you get a bunch of your friends on Yelp to write you 5 star reviews. That's not helping your business. So someone "passed you a list of names" (which, let's be honest, you purchased) and mine just happens to be on there - you've called me and emailed me and my no response isn't sending you the message you need. So, you resort, desperately, to texting me (I've never heard of this marketing approach - ever) asking me personal information when I have NO IDEA who you are - and then when I express that frustration you call me hostile and argue with me. Nice business approach. No wonder you're so desperate for business you're resorting to harassing people over text.

Our situation was a bit complex in that we were relocating from California, but Michael made it so easy, for example: 1. We had a few calls to discuss our needs/preferences ahead of our first trip to Austin to look at houses, and from the very first call it was clear he was very familiar with the area. 2. Based on our initial conversation, he was able to hone in on the neighborhoods that met our needs, and sent us lots of listings to review and further narrow down our preferences. 3. Once we got into town, he cleared his schedule for a few days to drive us around - but he didn't just take us from house to house, he showed us the neighborhoods, went over features like schools/shopping/amenities, and really showed his in-depth knowledge of the area. 4. As we looked at houses, he was so detail oriented in looking for and explaining potential issues/concerns, pointing out even the smallest items that most people wouldn't notice. As it turns out, we found our dream home on our first day out, and even though we wanted to make an offer on it, he continued to take us to more showings the next day, just in case. Once we were ready to make an offer, he did a great job of thoroughly explaining the process/paperwork, was very quick to produce the documents for us to sign and submit our offer. More examples of his excellence in representing us: 1. He kept us so well informed throughout the process, and truly kept our best interests in mind throughout the negotiations and closing. 2. He was extremely responsive, and so quick to respond to all of our questions and concerns, including a few late night calls (later for him than for us, as we were back in LA by then). 3. He spent a lot of time coordinating with the sellers, inspectors, lenders, escrow folks, and repairmen on our behalf. 4. As we were not in town for the closing, he took care of the final walk through for us, and again was very detailed in looking out for issues - it was like he was buying a house for himself! It's been over a week since we closed, and he is still looking out for us, checking-in to see how the move went, making sure repairs that he scheduled went well, and offering to help in any way possible. In closing, I'm going to plagiarize the opening line from one of his other reviews, which pretty much sums it all up: "Michael Harrell is by far the most genuine, friendly, helpful, hard-working, and honest real estate agent I've ever met." He was truly a pleasure to work with and I would not hesitate to work with him again in the future.
