Okay food. High cover charge. Venture and little further into town for best food and service. There's a great place next door as well.

Right off the bat, a lil bit of a weird vibe from the hostess and the waiter that gave us nonstop stares as we sat down and then proceeded to bring us stale bread in a paper bag. At first I thought it was just a few stares because we're American and that's maybe understandable, but every time I would look over in their direction I was met with intense eye contact and it made us all feel very uncomfortable and almost unwelcome. The inside ambiance was also a little sterile but whatever, it was also colder out so their outside area was closed so that was a bummer but understandable. We ordered the Trofie Al Pesto and the Lasgana, as well as the grilled mixed seafood. The pesto came with prepackaged Parmesan (felt a lil weird for a restaurant in Italy) and was a lil too sauce heavy. The lasagna on the other hand was outstanding, probably the only win of the night. Grilled seafood was okay too but nothing special. Overall just a weird and off vibe from the service, nothing friendly or outstanding like the reviews said. Definitely will not be returning and left us with a bad taste in our mouth once we left.

The appetizers came out to the table within a few minutes and the food wasn't far behind. Despite the quick service, the food wasn't what we had come to expect based on past Italian dining experiences. Seafood Appetizer (4/5): I enjoyed the seafood, it was fresh and tasty. My husband felt that some of the seafood was tough Pesto Pasta (3/5): The quality of the pesto pasta seemed inconsistent. My husband's food came out hot and had a great pesto flavor. The rest of the group's food did not come out warm and had almost no flavor. I'm not sure what happened with the pasta, but even after my husband tried my pasta he agreed that it wasn't great.

The Spaghetti Bolognese was tasteless and would have been better if from The Olive Garden in the US. And let's not get started on the JOKE of an Octopus Salad that we never even got to finish because she took it away before we were done. She didn't even ask by the way! The one down the street at La Posada is WAY superb. If you go to Corniglia, don't waste your money or time on this joke of a restaurant, the view will trick you... don't let that fool you. This place is horrible.

Our waiter (white hair, older man) seemed cold but at least prompt and professional. We ordered mixed salads, espressos and split a margherita pizza. The server provided us with a bottle of balsamic vinegar and a bottle of olive oil for the salads. This was the first meal during our trip to Italy where we discovered the incredible quality of the real legit stuff (NOT supermarket-bought junk in the U.S.) The pizza was quite tasty although a little on the soft side, so there was room for improvement in Dau Tinola's cooking. Espressos were great. I liked the outdoor seating. It was a beautiful day, and Dau Tinola's location made for good people-watching in the piazza area. It was lunchtime, and we were there in our hiking gear. Dau Tinola was just what we needed. I probably wouldn't recommend it for a nice dinner.

Just before the rain started we were able to sit outside, and the no nonsense waiter took a shine to us. He was most kind. We had the tomato spaghetti and grilled fish, just right, both delicious with the house white wine. A little chaotic as church bells were loud at the end of mass, plus the restaurnt is at the bus stop for those transporting down to the train. But we enjoyed the food and felt well cared for.

This restaurant is located in a wonderful town of Corniglia. In kind of the center of town in a little square under a church. It is surrounded by residences and vacationers. Screaming and... you cannot make this up.... Screaming over a BULLHORN A bullhorn. A bullhorn with a siren button which they thoroughly tested out through the night. Now. One might ask "why does this reflect on the owners and restaurant". I'd have to answer "how does it not"? Look. They value a few dollars over the whole community in which they live. What kind of people do this? Anyway. If you like supporting owners with no sense of decency, this is definitely your place.
