Background On Visit: Looked on the yelp app. to find another place to get a haircut. The things that drew to me this place was that: 1) It was close to home. 2) Haircut rate was cheaper ($20). 3) Lastly, the reviews were quite solid. Payment Type: They accept cash or venmo/zelle. Promotion: Currently, they have a promo for men and womens' hair. $15 for Men, $20 for Women, and they charge $5 if your hair is long. Last day for the deal is September 1, 2025. Reservations: Reservation is preferred, but you can also them to see if there is an opening. The times that I've patronized the shop, I just called in. Waited about 10 minutes Visitation Rights: 3 times and many more visits to come. Location/Parking: Located in the SW corner of Valley and Rio Hondo. Parking can be found either on Valley or on RIo Hondo, and in the shared parking lot in the back. Ambiance/Decor: Small little barber shop with hair salon type of decor. There's a couple of chairs in the front to sit while you wait your turn and a tv to keep yourself entertained. Service: Service is good. The price of the haircut also includes a hair wash and gel/style if you need it. The barbers take their time. No rushing here! Haircut Of Choice: Just a simple 1 1/2 inch on the side and trim on the top to do a comb over is good for me. Dat DG Hair Salon For Thought: Don't mind coming back to get a haircut.

Amazing haircut especially for Asian hair! Great job guys! Place is nice, clean and parking spots, your wife or gf can wait next door getting their nails done

I still like this Vietnamese hair salon in Rosemead, but not as much as it used to be. (1) Men's haircut used to be $10, but it is now $20 (as of Nov 2022). (2) I am fine with calling to set up an appointment, but I definitely agree with one of Yelpers below on how they don't always pick up calls. I actually visited two other random hair salons out of three times in the past 6 months because of Dat DG Hair Salon's inability to pick up my multiple calls for appointments. Please feel free to walk in and ask for haircut on the spot, but either (1) you will have to schedule an appointment on later hours or (2) you can get a haircut immediately if they have open spots available. It's a crapshoot if you try to call & make an appointment. (3) Men's haircut still includes complimentary hair wash and styling with gel, but I wasn't completely satisfied with my recent hairstyle done by one of their many barbers. If I do come back here next time, then I will be sure to pick 1 of 16 referenced styles with photos (low/mid/high fade pompadour, voluminous pompadour, hipster classic, modern class with low fade, drop face with side part, fauxhawk with design, low/medium/high/textured taper, tousled caesar, mid-length layers, the disconnect, and undercut) on the wall or just ask for low taper (#9).

I've been going to Dat DG for years and I decided it was time to write a review. There are really only 4 barbers, but I mainly get my hair cut from Rony (the owner). I like how he knows how to cut Asian male hair specifically and the styles around them. I usually get a "0" fade on the side and a slight comb over parted slightly to the back. I believe he is the most experience and came from a previous barber shop before he decided to open up his own business in Dat DG. I haven't got cut much from the other barbers, but the two other guys seem to cut pretty similarly too, which is good. At the time of this writing, the only women barber seems to be relatively new. She seems to do more than men's haircuts since I've seen her do bleach or perms on different occasions before, but I had my hair cut from her once when Rony was busy and she got my preferences pretty spot on as well (even though I don't think my haircut is that difficult). What I like about Dat DG specifically over other places I've been to is that they include a free hair wash with shampoo with every haircut (usually done right after cutting your sides and before trimming the top hairs). Really helps get a clean cut as well as get a lot of the small hairs that are left on your head post cut. BOOKING: highly recommend calling in before coming to reserve an appointment. Ive always done this and have been able to get same day appointments with ease. You can call in for future appointments too. I usually come on random weekday mornings, but they seem to get a consistent flow of people no matter what day it is. As note, Fridays and weekends are the busiest. They usually open at 9:30 am M-Sat, and then 10:00 am Sun. PAYMENT: they raised their prices starting 2022 from $15 to $20. I believe they prefer cash, but they now accept Zelle which if you're anything like me is actually a game changer because I seem to never actually have cash on me (the only use for my red envelope money). Make sure to add some extra for tip. PARKING: the store front is located on a pretty busy steet, but there is a little shared back parking lot. I've personally never had trouble finding parking, but I would imagine on a busy day the lot fills up fast. There is always side street parking too. You can enter through the back entrance. Overall: my favorite place to get a Asian male's haircut :)

Tell you what, with the price you pay for, you will not regret!! Cindy is a very nice and friendly hair stylist. She spent a lot of time cutting my hair and trimming it again the next day to make sure that I'm satisfied with my hairstyle. She was very detailed oriented and would recommend hairstyle or length based on my face shape, and her previous experiences. My husband is not a big fan of short hairs, but he said he likes it. ;) By the way, she is by appointments only. Make sure you call her for your appointment first.

It was about 3:30pm when I came in, and no one else was there, which I Iliked since that allowed Ched to take his time with my hair. However, no sooner I did a check in and got into the chair for shampooing, three other women decided to show up and wanting their hair done too, lol! Hahaha, I brought Ched extra business on a slow Friday afternoon ;) Ched gave me a great scalp massage while shampooing my hair. After he applied conditioner, it got slippery and water sprayed all over. Luckily, I I wasn't soaked, and Ched was very apologetic from beginning to end, how sweet! :) Even though 3 women came in, Ched took his time with me, and didn't rush through. He asked me how I wanted my part, and covered up my lil hole on my top crown. He made my curls tight since my hair was baby fine and topped it off with Suave brand gel hairspray. My curls were awesome, and they held nicely throughout my friend's bday party. Best of all, when I came home and brushed it out before showering, it still looked amazing! *Sighs* had to brush it out otherwise, it'll look like a rat's nest in the morning, lol! The wash and curl took no more than 25 mins to do. Cost was $20 (not including tip). My curls were tight and intact with my baby fine hair. I did notice that unlike Drybar, Ched doesn't put mousse in there first, so some parts of curls were crunchy, but thank goodness not fried. However, my curls held up nicely, and so I was happy :) Located in the same plaza as Game Stop, Arby's and 99 Ranch Market in Alhambra. I would definitely come by again for a hair cut or wash and curl again, yay! :)

So many red flags…read more If you have fine virgin hair, I strongly recommend avoiding a digital perm at this salon. My hair was past my waistline when I arrived. The stylist insisted it was far too long and said a significant cut was necessary. I trusted her professional judgment, expecting a healthy trim, but nearly half my hair was cut off. The haircut itself felt rushed and uneven, seemingly done to accommodate the perm rather than with care for overall shape or length. Midway through my appointment, a previous client returned visibly upset, saying her hair did not look permed. While I didn't hear every detail, it immediately raised concerns, concerns that ultimately became my own. Throughout the service, my stylist repeatedly emphasized that my hair was "too fine," that there weren't enough curlers for my hair, and that more hair needed to be cut. If she believed a digital perm would not work on my hair type, she should have been honest from the start and declined the service. The end result: my hair feels fried, is significantly shorter than expected, and shows no real signs of a perm. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this salon. Additional notes: * The smell of cigarettes from the staff smoking heavily fills the salon. I left with a headache, and the combination of cigarette smoke and perm chemicals was overwhelming. * Stylists spoke aggressively in another language, appearing to argue about my service, which felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. * If you discovered this salon through TikTok and were impressed by how attentive they appeared (offering water, snacks, etc.), be aware that this level of service is not consistent. Unless you appear to be a social media personality. Paying over $400 plus tip for this experience was deeply disappointing.
