I had asked my hair person to shorten my hair, and honestly - it is only to shorten a little bit. However, she insisted that she just want to cut off my blonds, and it won't be too much of my hair. I insisted with her that I wanted it longer, as my hair is down to around my end of-chest, and I wanted a bit above the mid-chest. To end this review, she basically gave me such a short haircut that is above my shoulder. I had told her to stop cutting so short, and she kept insisting that these were "detail cuts" and not actual cuts. Initially prior to the start of the cut, I had told her in mandarin, I don't want hair too short, because I don't want my hair to curl to the side because of its length, and I thought she understood the task, shorten my hair but not all the way. But her actual cuts are already too short for my hair. The days following, I been regretting my hair cut, and been barely able to tie my hair. I had told her I want to be able to tie my hair, and also be able to let it down, only slightly shorter. Overall, I am very disappointed with their cut. I've been to this salon three times now and as of January 2022, I paid $30 for a wash, haircut, and dry. The price is really affordable compared to other salons where I've paid $60-80 for the same service. I walked in without an appointment and waited 15 minutes until I was helped out. My haircut took 30 minutes which was a total of 45 minutes at the salon. My hair dresser spoke limited English but still gave me a great haircut. They mainly speak Chinese at this salon but the woman at the front desk helped me articulate the cut length and style I wanted. This place is cash only so remember to stop by the bank/atm before coming! For those who are curious, they offer keratin treatment for ~$180 including a haircut. read more

You won't get the fancy lighting, sound equipment, and furniture. Speaking strictly for men's cut, I liked how quickly they took care of me. I showed them pictures of what I wanted (pictures of side, back, front would help) and they followed it closely. I had chin length hair when I walked in for a trim. To my knowledge chin length has always been short hair but they charged me at the long hair price. Which is not the biggest deal, only $5 more. But the biggest problem is my hair is now ruined! It looked pretty good after he cut and styled. Of course it'll look good because he spent half an hour styling it. The bug surprise is after I get home and washed my hair and it's so lopsided. He gave me wayyyyyyyyy too many layers, "trimmed" off way too much hair and length. I told him multiple times that I'm growing out my hair and don't take any length off. And he still did and now My hair is so crazy and I can't even fix it no matter what I do. I've been going to this salon for 5+ years. I always ask for Joe who works closest to the receptionist desk and he does such a great job. He is normally really busy so I would recommend scheduling an appointment beforehand. I normally ask for layers and thinning (I have a lot of hair and he knows how to work with it). I highly recommend this hair stylist because his work speaks for itself. He speaks mandarin and Cantonese so that's always a plus when I need to communicate what I need. I got my haircut here for years and Joe really does a good job even though I mess up trying to learn to cut my own hair. But who isn't cutting their own hair nowadays because of the pandemic. He somehow magically cuts it and it looks great. However, one time the front desk lady was helping me wash my hair before a haircut. My hair was really long but I always take care of my hair so there was hardly any split ends. The front desk lady literally tangled my hair and pulled my hair apart. I cringe so hard as I heard my hair snapping. Then she gestured oh well you're getting a hair cut. Like it's not a problem. I really took that to heart. Just wow and no. CASH ONLY! I'm sorry I do not carry around $250 in my purse and they asked me if I was a new customer as I walked in and sat down, which then (at least) should have told me it was cash only. I had to go out of my way back to my house because I literally just had my credit card with me, grab cash and go back. SO inconvenient. What salon does cash only if they're offering services that's $100+ and it does not say cash only anywhere (not here on yelp either!). So ANYWAY besides that, I bleached & dyed my hair and got oil treatment (although I told her I don't have enough time for the treatment, but she insisted otherwise my hair would be extremely dry) so fine I got the treatment done expedite form and prob payed the same amount for the fast job. Plus, they can't really speak/understand English too well so there is definitely a language barrier in getting what I want out of their service. Smells like Vegas in here because the workers smoke right in front of the store. Whatever will not come back. That was so inconvenient and there are too many salons in the area to have dealt with that. ***UPDATE REVIEW*** A month later, my hair is extremely dry and damaged from their bleaching. It simply looks horrible. I dyed it back to brown so the damage can show less... there is absolutely no hope. I came to V salon to get my semi-annual haircut from Jenny. I called to verify if she was there, the receptionist said yes. I got there at 6:30PM, asked for Jenny, but was directed to sit down. I waited for 20 minutes and witnessed how the other newly arrived customers get to sit down before me. At 6:50PM, Danny approached me. At first I was hesitant because I was not comfortable of having a guy cut my hair, but I don't want to wait any longer. While washing my hair, he had to point out my white hair. He offered to cut and color my hair for a reasonable price. It was already 7PM and they were closing. Everyone has left the salon but Danny and Vincent stayed to work on my hair. I was amazed on how passionate they were with their work. It was already late. They moved really quickly but not to the point of rushing me to get out of the salon. They took their time and made sure that I am happy with the results. Despite the wait and the language barrier, I will still recommended this place to my family and friends for the reasonable price and dedication of the artists. read more

Friendly Cantonese fills the salon as we sit on the comfy couch seats with fashion and hair magazines cluttering the coffee table. We are greeted with a friendly woman who asks whether or not you have an appointment. I recommend you call ahead if you use a favorite stylist. Joe is our go to, as he never disappoints though he gets really busy and appreciates appointments. Joe is the stylish and mildly intimidating barber closest to the receptionist counter. Today he sports a man bun. The wifi password is next to his station! They offer free wifi which adds to the appeal to this particular salon. There's also a TV always streaming above the receptionist counter to help distract yourself while waiting. The price range is reasonable and probably a really great deal considering the skill level. Always tip the hairstylist, it's something you should do. Joe does a great job and I never get disappointed. I just need to get into the habit of setting up an appointment instead of popping up randomly and hoping for the best and risk getting shooed out for the lunch break. Sorry Joe! read more

I always came to this place for an affordable hair cut. This time, I wanted to get a new bold hair color. And can I say, I was very happy with the color of my hair and the incredible service! The hair stylists that I can always count on and highly recommend are Danny and Vincent. Both were really attentive and understanding to the colors I was interested in and assured me that they will do their best. They were very attentive to detail as they applied the dye. During the waiting process for the color to catch onto my hair, Vincent and Danny would stop by every few minutes to check in and made sure everything was okay. After the wash, Vincent and Danny made sure I was happy with the hair color. They took great care drying my hair and also took the extra step to style it as well. I was ecstatic for the way it turned out! Both stylist are really friendly and easy to talk to! They are fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese. Though, you can also have basic English conversations as well! Despite the language, they are very communicative to your every need and concern during the whole hair session. All of the barbers here are really good at their job. I found a new hair salon to go to now! They really take their time to design a good hairstyle for you and they actually listen to what you want. When you tell them you want 2 inches off, they won't cut off 4 inches. That has happened to me before! I came here for a haircut for $18+tips and I was very pleased with the result. At V salon, you pay for what you get plus more! First, they washed my hair, then they cut it, and they even styled my hair after. You can even get your hair dyed there too. I am really picky with how I want my hair style to be and everywhere that I have been to have not met my standards until V salon. Haircut is $18+ tips which includes hairwash, shampoo, haircut, and blowout. This is such a great price for the service you are getting! My hairstylist was really good because he was a perfectionist like me! He spent a long time with my haircut. He started with separating my hair in different layers and trimmed it really meticulously. I had two experiences with Joe. The first time was a cut and dye. He cut my hair, great job on the layers, however I had someone else dye my hair....which was quite messy. Got a lot of dye on my face and was quite sloppy when doing so. Color was alright, nothing super special. Second time around cut and bleach. I had originally wanted to just cut my hair because of all my dead ends, but I began to miss the color of my balayage that was done by someone else. So I asked him to just to do a touch up since my roots were growing out. He did a nice job on the layers again but didnt give me the V cut in the back like I asked. This time he personally bleached my hair, I thought it was going to be great because he was doing it himself.....um yeah no. I asked him three times to make sure there was not going to be a hard line for my natural hair color to the bleach. I wanted the balayage again. When he started ti bleach, I knew there was going to be a hard line. I told him to please fix it and he responded "its okay, its on the bottom, no one will see." WHO SAYS THAT ?! Then at the end of the finish product, there were so many hard lines, the color didnt even match to my first color, and there were so many uneven patches of color in my hair. LITERALLY bawled my eyes once I left. I recommend that you get it cut there, but go some where else for bleach/colored. read more

If you are coming to this salon for a balayage.... just don't. I suppose this place isn't the best with the more western hairstyles (specializing in Asian styles) and I should have anticipated that starting with the language barrier... yet I still decided to give it a try. I showed multiple pictures of a caramel balayage that I wanted. My stylist figured it was close to an ombré and proceeded to only bleach my hair, with it being dark at the top and lighter at the bottom like a typical ombré. If he had done a good job with the ombré I might have given the review more than 2 stars. But the "ombré" he gave me was patchy-- he missed a good chunk of hair. Also, the color came out really brassy. He didn't use toner to tone it down. And didn't add any other coloring... needless to say, I was disappointed with the results. The only good thing I will say is that he curled it at the end which made it not look as bad (however, when it straightened, you can see the glaring mistakes). read more

Man, is my family dedicated or what? For a while, my family tried tracking down Joe to find out where he relocated to. Turns out he opened up his own salon! My whole family flocked there after my mom and I found his salon. I just wanted a trim to get rid of my split ends, and he did exactly that. No more tangles and nasty, damaged hair! Joe didn't take too much length off my hair either. The only complaint I have would be the hair that tends to make its way towards you because of the fan they have. It blows some of the cut hairs towards you while you wait... The rest of the workers seemed nice, too. While I was waiting, a lady came in about her hair being too unmanageable and wanted a new style, and two of the barbers helped her look through books/pamphlets for something she'd like.
