Well, I'll chime in with more stories about Dr. Dassani pushing extra, non-necessary (in my opinion) procedures. It does appear she is trying to increase her profits by praying on people's fears. She strongly suggested that I pay for a swab test of my mouth to characterize the bacteria that live there. After I politely declined, she had me sign a sketchy 3 sentence 'release of liability' as if I would die without knowing the species of bacteria in my mouth. This is clearly a scare tactic to manipulate the uneducated. If she tries this on anyone, I'd suggest taking a photo of it or asking for a copy and showing it to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners. On another occasion she wanted to use a 'blue laser' to kill the bacteria in my mouth. I declined because she did not have a convincing reason why I needed this high tech procedure. I later asked my (old school) Periodontist about the 'blue laser' and he said it did not have a scientifically proven benefit. I have since moved my family to a less 'cutting edge' dental practice. I like my new dentist because I am not constantly subjected to used car like sales tactics. I guess she is OK if you just refuse the extra stuff she pushes. It is just annoying when she 'strongly suggests' you do something that is not medically necessary. I guess she can say it is her opinion that it would be helpful, but people trust medical professionals and she knows it. As for me, I know now to trust medical professionals less and to always get a second opinion. Dr. Dassani: Could you elaborate on why you have people sign releases for non-reimbursed procedures, but not when they decline insurance reimbursed procedures such as fillings? read more

I had my first visit with Dr. Dassani this past Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted by a very warm and welcoming young lady named Melanie. Since I set up my appointment a week in advance, the office mailed me the new patient documentation so it was prefilled upon arrival. This really sped up the check in process making my visit more efficient. The waiting area is not very big at all, but the most important thing is that it's comfortable and CLEAN. Honorable mention for the wash room.... Clean, smells great, and well stocked :) After waiting 5 minutes I was called to the area where my dental exam and cleaning was going to take place. My hygienist, Heather, was very sweet, patient, and knowledgeable. I'm always adamant about dentist visits just because I've had horrible experiences at other offices where the cleaning and exam process can be handled very brusquely and in a painful manner. Heather was gentle in the X-ray process, but most importantly in the cleaning process. She was constantly stopping to make sure I was OK and that she wasn't being too rough. She even gave me a hand signal to utilize should I be uncomfortable. Dr. Dassani reviewed my x-rays, performed a dental exam, and answered several of my burgeoning questions. She was very sweet and thorough. She gave me a few pointers that I really appreciated. What I really liked was the fact that she did not try to push anything on me, like the purchase of add on services or tools. Get ready for a story... First thing I will say is that the staff is very nice and everyone is friendly, but that is not enough to keep me at this place. For that I would maybe give them 2 stars, but I have had enough of this place. This place will try to gouge you for your money. Since July I had been experiencing some pain in ONE tooth. I went in, the dentist said I needed a filling, and I got the filling. Result: I still could not eat and now I had pain in another tooth. I waited 3-7 days to tell the dentist that i could not eat on the side she worked on and that now another tooth was hurting. I also told her that my floss was getting caught on a tooth and told me "that's just how [your] teeth are" and that I needed another filling. I was like..."oh ok. Dr knows best, right?". This dentist did not like when I suggested maybe she had messed up a little. So I got the other filling. Result: still in pain! so i call again... By this time she had already readjusted my bite because I had gone in quite a few times after the fillings - Idk what she did...it looked like she just filed my tooth that now had jagged edges. It seemed like i was trying to sharpen my tooth or something - Anyway, she offered to readjust again and i just said forget it. She admitted she didn't know what else to do, so she referred me to an endodontist for a possible root canal = more $$$$$$$ I went for a consultation with the endodontist and they charged me over $100 for that. I had been pretty patient with the situation, but at this point I'm frustrated because I had already some hundred dollars and taken off of work and i still cannot eat whatever I want! I went and got a second opinion. This new dentist (just to be clear, not the one for which this review is for) did more to find out what the problem is. She said it's not likely that I need a root canal but she did state that the dental work I had before was kinda bad and she understood why I was frustrated with Dr. Dassani. She found many work flaws in my x-rays. Jump to the following Monday (because the second opinion was on a Friday) I calledl Dr Dassani's office to tell them that I went and got a second opinion. Everything Dr. Dassani had recently done, had to be fixed / re-done. I explained that I wasn't mad at her and that I was just frustrated at the situation and that I still couldn't enjoy eating. I also explained that I just wasn't comfortable with Dr. Dassani re-doing the dental work and that I would like a refund. They said yes and that they would be sending the check either that day or the next day. ***2 weeks pass*** No check. Teeth still hurting! I called the office this week and they called back saying that they are going to cut me a check today but I should keep in mind that I owe $600 and some change. The lady on the phone said that I have owed this money for quite some time (years). ...what?!?! I had been going to to them for at least a few years and they are barely telling me! I never received an email, letter, or phone call from neither them nor a debt collector. On top of that, the lady on the phone could not even tell me what exactly all this was for because she wasn't working there at the time. The only person who could tell me this information was out (sick I think) for the week - so why tell me when you don't have all the information?? They always check to see what my insurance covers and tell me what I owe as I leave the office and I have ALWAYS paid or charged it to care credit, which I always pay on time and in full. This place is shady. Don't go here. For reals..if you like your teeth. Don't go here *********Oh yea...in my first visit they charged for almost everything and try to push you to buy the products they sell. Dr. Dassani and her team are so wonderful! I am extremely anxious about dentist visits and they make the whole process easy and as delightful as visiting the dentist office can be! Billing and services are always carefully explained. Insurance is taken care of before you visit, so that you know your responsible amount. They use modern technology for cleanings, crowns, X-rays, etc. which also helps make appointments go by quickly. Before going to Dassani Dentistry, I avoided going to the dentist for years because of bad previous experiences, and my dental health suffered because of it. Now, working through my treatment plan, my dental health is improving, and while I still don't jump for joy when I have a dental appointment, I don't cringe and cancel the appointment either. Oh, and TV's on the ceiling with headphones and massaging chairs aren't a bad perk either! read more

The first time I went to Dassani Dentistry after Dr. Whatton retired I had a really bad experience with a woman who very aggressively cleaned my teeth, and was overly critical of my dental hygiene. I'm not perfect, but my adult teeth have been cavity free for eleven years with no criticism from my previous dentist except - you really should floss more. I found her prickly at best. My last visit was much better, and made me glad I gave the place a second chance. Christina cleaned my teeth and was very cheerful, very thorough, and kept up a nice conversation. It was definitely one of my better teeth cleaning, and Dr. Dassani is very good. No cavities again, so my experience is only with the a general appointment but the appointment went well. The rest of my family had similar experiences, and we're glad we gave it a second shot. read more

Dr. Dessani appears to be a good dentist but her pricing is atrocious. I got a written quote in March for $1269.00 for a crown and again the same written quote price in September. When I did have the work done, her office staff charged me $1545. I didn't have my paperwork at the time but I brought it back this week and pointed out the discrepancy. Martha told me there was nothing that she could do to credit my account for the excess charges that I paid. I say bull... Also, the price for a filling went from $250 to $342; almost a 50% increase in 6 months. I don't know what world Dr. Dessani lives in but my salary has not increased by 50% this year! Dr. Dessani does not appear to care whether she looses a patient or give a darn what happens at front office. She seems to let the girls run the show. I don't know if they make up the pricing based on who the patient is, but I sure feel like they saw me coming and decided to squeeze me for all they could. I miss Jennifer and Dr. Whatton so much. They were fair and reasonably priced. Where, o where, am I going to find another dentist like Dr. Whatton? read more

I got a very expensive sleep apnea mouthpiece with Dassani (multiple thousands of dollars after insurance), and when I asked them to make a small repair, they didn't ask for details or to even see the appliance before informing me the entire thing would need to be replaced. My experience with Dassani has been an impersonal and frustrating money grab from start to finish. Find somewhere else to take your business. read more

I have been a patient here for almost a year and I have had nothing but pleasant experiences. You will pay a little more here, but I think it's worth it. The office is always nice and clean, with water and coffee available in the lobby. The staff here is very friendly, especially Christina! She is always willing to take extra time to explain things to me. Dr. Dassani is so friendly and thorough. When I first came in I had some cavities, and she took care of them the next visit and all in one sitting. All of the dental hygienists are very gentle and friendly. read more

I was super nervous about my visit but I felt very comfortable the whole time. The tech that came in before the doctor was super sweet and made sure to walk me through everything she was doing. I regret choosing this place. From Day 1 X-Ray experience I should have walked out, it took 4 re-takes and 2 Dental assistants......I was there for pain in my right molar, after checking the x-rays was advised that the cavity needs to be cleaned and filled/permanent crowned.....after the procedure and 2000+$$ the pain was still there....3 weeks later when I was due to have my permanent crown...I informed them pain is still there and asked should we still go ahead with perm crown? I was x-ray'd again and within a minute of looking at my x-Ray I was told to go for root-canal....Why in the first place was I put thru the pain and trial and error? Lesson learnt - don't get carried away with the ambience and technical gadgets....at the end of the day info needs to be interpreted and right diagnosis made. read more

I hate the dentist all together but the staff AND doctor make you feel completely comfortable (no matter what your dental situation is). Do NOT go! It was my very first time to visit and by the end of my appointment they said I needed $2,000 dollars worth of dental work done ($3,000 total with insurance). They also said that I had 4 cavities! They would never call me back when they said they would. I had to call them every time! How are you supposed to keep customers if you can't follow up with them? When I went to another dentist they said I didn't have any cavities and the stuff they recommended I did not need! I can't believe that I almost paid $2,000 of my own money for NOTHING! PERFECT DENTIST with a PERFECT Staff and Team I have been treated by Dr. Dassani for several years and I am very happy with her skills, patience, knowledge and above all an amazing team! I am a very difficult patient to deal with but Dr. Dassani and her team has the perfect patience and skills to deal with me. The first thing that I like about her office is her waiting area and the front desk staff. Her front desk staff always has a smile on their face when you enter the office and they are always so helpful to check you in and have always answered questions that I have had. The decor in her office is very soothing. The fish tank in her office just calms me down and I am sure all her patients will agree to this! I have never had to wait for more then 5 minutes in the waiting area. Her staff will great you with a smile and take you to the treatment room. Not only is the front office clean and tidy 100% all the time but so are the office treatment rooms and rest rooms. Once we are taken to the treatment room, everything is perfectly taken care of.. Right from evaluation,treatment to post care! All our questions are perfectly answered and We have never left the office u satisfied. The check out process is perfectly smooth. The next day there is a follow up call always to check on how we are doing. My girls love to be treated at Dr. Dassani's office too!
