Coming here for tasting was an exquisite experience as well.The staff was very knowledgable of the wines being poured. Every wine was nice and taste surprising. I really enjoyed all the wines here. We hosted our holiday party at Dashe Cellars during December 2017 and reserved the winery for half day. From the beginning, meeting with Clara Willard was a great experience. She explained the rental process, rates, and gave us a tour of the facility. She was wonderful to work with and so was the rest of the team at Dashe. Prior to our event, we held a wine tasting and picked out the wines that we wanted to pour at the event. The event itself was a huge hit. Came here yesterday about 20 min before closing and loved their zins. This was the first i had heard of Dashe, and came here because we had heard the name down the street at Urban Legend where we were stocking up on our jug. They specialize in zin, so the hubby did not participate as he drinks only the whites. I wound up purchasing their dry creek old vine zin, and I can't wait to crack it open. To me their bottles are on some of the higher end of my oeno-budget (hey, I'm a professional paying rent in the bay-area!), so this bottle will be saved for a special dinner. Tasting fee is $5 which they waive if you purchase a bottle. Tried the late- harvest zin and we weren't given chocolate- was a little too sweet for my blood. I know it's a dessert wine- and I personally do not drink dessert wines. From the other reviews this seems very popular. Lastly, the woman pouring for us was so nice. Even though they were closing soon she chatted us up, and was very friendly. She gave us a map of the other wineries, and even a card for a tasting at JC Cellars whom they share a space with. I love down to earth wineries and often avoid Napa and their high- fallutin' attitudes, so I'm stoked to have found this little gem close tom home and I have a feeling we'll be back many many times. read more

Dashe and JC Cellars share a tasting room -- so this is a must see in Alameda as I am a really big fan of both of them. They pour a lot of wines and are very friendly. The wines are awesome, but don't expect any beautiful views -- but they aren't really needed. My only complaint is their shipping policy/charges -- it's like $85 a case -- so expect to take your wines with you. read more

Great Zins and the tasting room server was very friendly. It was also one of the rare times where I could discern real differences in the wine lineup. So I ended up buying a bottle. They served a decent number of wines for the $5 tasting fee. I wish they'd poured a winer or two off their standard list. We tried several of the wineries on the Oakland Urban Wine Trail and this is our favorite. Liked it enough to join their club.

I've been here a few times so when friends wanted to do some urban wine tastings before dinner this was the first place I suggested. I had planned to buy a few bottles of the Comet and asked for one more taste just to confirm. Our host hesitated and we can tell he didn't want to pour another taste. I hosted a graduation party at Dashe Cellars and it was everything I hoped for. I can't speak to the other members of their staff but Sara was not only responsive to my many many questions (a graduation is a milestone and I don't host events often) but she took care of every detail I didn't even know to think of. She anticipated my guests needs and far exceeded my expectations. The outside garden space is a jewel in that industrialized area. Most of my guests were from Oakland and no one had been to or even heard of Dashe. It was a treat for all of us. It's a great venue with flexible policies. read more

Came here for a work function and it's very spacious but relaxed. It has an industrial feel to it with exposed ceilings and wine barrels stacked about, but there are cocktail tables to stand at or picnic tables a little further back to sit. An urban wine tasting gem, first and foremost about food friendly well crafted wines. I highly recommend stopping by to taste Dashe Cellars wines, as I believe they produce some of the best affordable wines in California. Their low-key location is shared with JC Cellars, owned by Jeff Cohen who is also well known for 98+ pt wines per Robert Parker and others. These pair of wineries offer a very convenient wine experience, about the wine, in a low key setting. Dashe sources only small lot, superior quality grapes which he handles in a very thoughtful, restrained way. No super-high alcohol fruit bombs here. I would characterize their wines as food oriented, good acid and balanced. We are club members despite having access to wine via a large number of industry friends. The Dashe family also quitely support many bay area fund raising efforts, without asking for business in return. Check it out and judge for yourself. I partcularly like their approach to Rhone varieties, when they make them. read more

Loved it! This place is a sweet little hidden jewel. I came here with some friends, Sunday afternoon after having a not so pleasant experience at Brooklyn West winery. It was refreshing to be greeted by a friendly face that was eager to help us and ensure we had a great time. If you're in the Oakland area you have to check this place out. I recommend it for gathering with friends and or a date with bae. Lol I feel bad, i forgot the girl's name that was helping us but she rocked. read more

I love wine and I also enjoy not having to go far from home to enjoy good wine! I've hit up most of the wineries on the urban wine trail, but for some reason, it took me awhile to check this one out & looks like I've been missing out! I was lucky enough to celebrate their annual Paella Fiesta this year and I'm bummed that I just found out that this paella event has been going on for 8 years now! Paella + wine?! Two of my favorite things! I was able to taste a variety of different red wines (this place makes some killer Zins), enjoyed some live entertainment, and ate a huge and delicious plate of paella! It was a bit chilly when I was there, so we grabbed a seat inside. However, there is an outdoor area; something i'll keep in mind when I want to enjoy wine outdoors once the weather warms up again. Not only will I come back for next years Paella Fiesta, I plan on bringing back some local friends for a day of tasting. So if you're in Oakland and a fan of red wines (Zinfandel especially), this place is worth checking out! read more

2 tasting rooms that share the same space half way between my home and my work right here in Oakland? Sign me up! My recent favorite of theirs was their Zin from Dry Creek. The Todd Bros. Zin was also good. I bought a bottle and gave it to my brother-in-law for Christmas to accompany his new wine glasses he wanted. Such a cool label! Lovely balanced wines at fair prices.

We were lucky to have the vibrant Shannon as our pourer. Her description of the Zinfandels in jazz terms were colorful. We tried Zins ranging from Coltrane and Mile Davis to Ella and New Orleans. Shannon's portrayal of Merlot was clever describing the wine as having a bad rep saying "..she can't help it she's easy...Merlot goes with everything". Shannon should get ROTD for her wine narratives. I really enjoyed the Coltrane. Which one was Coltrane you ask? Not going to tell. Your just going to have to visit the tasting room an ask Shannon for Coltrane...she'll know exactly what you want. read more

We held our Holiday Party at Dashe Cellars on Dec 2, 2017. They were amazing, the team of Clara and Stephanie are very professional efficient and so accommodating to our group of 300 guests. We had it fully catered and a live band and of course the incredible selection of Dashe wines. This venue is such a hidden gem! It is close to down town and all our guests were able to uber out. I attended Dashe's annual Paella Festival for the first time and was really impressed. The hors d'oeuvres were delicious and plentiful and the paella (3 different kinds, including vegan!) was out of this world. The lines for the wine tastings moved very quickly and the pours were quite generous. The live entertainment and incredible desserts also made for a fabulous afternoon. I had a very informative chat with Anne, the co-owner, who was quite charismatic and charming. The only negative is that I must wait an entire year for this event to happen again! read more

Came out here for the opening of the wine garden and it was only ok. Pretty small with maybe like 10-15 tables in total outside only. You will definitley have to get there as soon as it opens to claim a spot. We got there at two and they were all taken with people who were posting up. They said it was family friendly and you can bring a picnic which is pretty cool... for families. We saw a few people around our age but it was definitely a mix and there were definitely kids running around. I will for sure love doing this when I have kids but for now it's not really my cup of tea. The bf and I got glasses of their white and their new Rose. Both only ok. We were going to go inside and do the tasting but they didn't really have signs out saying what wines you got and it looked like 2 of them were the wines we already had glasses of. The wine garden is a cool concept for the summer but I think I will stick to the what we have in SF and not trudge out here for it. read more

Dashe, located up the bar from JC Cellars, is focused on Zin. They also make a Riesling which I surprisingly found to be very good on my most recent visit. In the past, I have also enjoyed their Cabs & Merlots. But, again, the focus here is on Zin and the do quite a good job with it. I'm not a big fan - the service was nice & the tasting area was fun but the wines were expensive and, frankly, not that great. The only wine I distinctly liked was the dry reisling. Otherwise they were pouring mostly zinfandels. None wowed me. They were just OK. At $24+ a bottle I could easily get much better zinfandel elsewhere for less. read more

i like this place. we got some wine from dashe in healdsburg at a tasting room, but the oakland location is their main tasting room. the place is huge and really laid back. we were able to try a bunch of wines on their list and even got to some they had just happened to open, including a late harvest zin. yum! if you don't want to go all the way to wine country, come to jack london square, b/c there are a few tasting rooms in the area w/ good wine! read more

Visiting the bay from the east coast, we got to experience the "urban wine trail" for the first time. It is a sweet surprise to downtown Oakland. In East Bay urban wine maker. It is a nice place to visit if you don't want to drive to wine country and it is great to know that urban wine makers are within easy access. This winery is definitive in the Zinfandel set--though they do produce a Grenache and a Riesling. I love that this tasting room is in a random spot in Oakland and that I don't have to drive all the way to Healdsburg to taste some good Dry Creek wines. I enjoyed all of the wines but the experience was a little lackluster compared to the wineries I visited the weekend beforehand in Healdsburg. Half of the pours didn't come with an explanation (I even had to ask what the wine was called a few times) but at least they waived the $5 tasting once I bought a bottle! read more

I love Dashe! They have some really wonderfully robust red wines that are reasonably priced (28-40/bottle). The staff is an outgoing group and was 100% welcoming of my french bulldog when I brought him with me tasting. The employees are very knowlegable and fun to spend time with while tasting! read more

For starters its nice that Oakland has a few tasting rooms to visit. :-) Our pourer Megan was nice friendly and knowledgeable. A few of my personal favorites being that I am fan of BOLDER reds, were the syrah and cabernet. One of the perks I liked about becoming a member was that they offer blending classes. Being a local girl- its nice to know I don't have to drive up to Raymond winery in order to enjoy blending my own special bottle. Another Perk was that they often have paella parties. Which made me think twice about the membership... THe only downside is that I really only enjoyed 2 of the wines. :-( read more

Dashe is a great place to visit and have an event at. Thanks to Erin, I was able to pull off a great company dinner at Dashe Cellars amidst the concrete floors and wine barrels. Thanks to some great lighting, floral arrangements, good food and good people! I am not a wine drinker but can attest to the many satisfied faces of my colleagues around dishing about how great the wine was. Events are a new thing for Dashe but they were very accommodating and fun to plan with and host a wine tasting. I would definitely recommend you visit this place for a tasting and as an option for your next event!!!!! read more
