By far one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. Check out the (edited for length) email I sent to the EVP below to get an idea of what it's like to deal with this company AVOID!!!!!! Mr Roehll, My name is---------. I hired DAS at the end of June to ship our vehicle from CA to NY. This would be the 5th time my family would use your company and my third time personally. I assumed my experience would mirror the previous four. I was wrong. Our vehicle was picked up on June 29th in CA . I booked the transport with a Mr. Tyler London who told me that even though I was given an estimated delivery date of July 13th "it would most likely be delivered to NY in about a week". On July 13th, I called the DAS 800 number and the automated system informed me that my car was "delayed". After speaking to a rep I was told that not only would my car not make the July 13th estimated delivery date, but it had not even left the lot in CA. I was never notified. The rep could not give me any information on when my car would be loaded onto a truck, let alone when it would get to NY. I called Tyler London who told me that he "no longer did business with DAS" so he couldn't help me. I reminded Mr. London that he had presented himself as a DAS employee when booking the transport and further assured me that my car was in good hands because we "own all our own trucks, and handle all of the shipping, unlike other companies who are just brokers". This was a clear misrepresentation of his role. Mr. London told me that he would find me a manager to speak with and then promptly forwarded my call into the DAS automated system. I called him a dozen times and left several voicemails. He never responded. I then began calling the general DAS number and was routinely routed to Tyler London voicemail or dead ended in the system. On a few occasions I was able to reach a representative and asked to speak with a manager or anyone who could give me any information about when to expect my car. I was systematically transferred to voicemail. I left messages with my contact information and never received any call back. On June 25th, almost four weeks after my car was picked up, I firmly believed our car had been stolen so I contacted AMSA, IAM, & CMSA to voice our concerns as they were listed on your website as associations you were affiliated with. IAM informed us that DAS cancelled their membership with them 2 years ago and the logo should no longer be displayed. CMSA was very responsive and the they offered to contact DAS on our behalf. The next day, John Krueger left me a v.m., I assume because of contact with CMSA. Our new estimated delivery date was Aug 1st. I called John back leaving several v.m.s letting him know I wished to speak with him about our issues and that I wanted to discuss a partial refund. I received a call and then a follow up email (attached) from an employee letting me know that she could reimburse me up to $50 a day for a rental car. On July 28th I received a voicemail from John Kreuger. John noted in the voicemail, that there was a further complication as the "carrier" was new. He stated, that the carrier would contact me on July 29th to schedule a delivery time. John also promised to follow up with me on July 29th after the vehicle was delivered so we could discuss the "good faith" discount he could offer me. No one contacted me on July 29- 31st. Our estimated delivery date of August 1st came and went. On Aug 3rd I called John Krueger every hour for the entire business day. I left a voicemail every time. I received no response. At 6pm EST I received a call letting us know our car would be delivered the next morning between 10am-11:30pm. The car was delivered at 10:15 am August 4th. FIVE WEEKS after it was picked up. John Krueger left me a voicemail. I called back immediately and for the first time in over 30 attempts he picked up the phone. $120 is the good faith discount I was offered. I was given an estimated delivery of two weeks. It took five. I was told that I wasn't dealing with a broker. I was. I spent countless hours calling and leaving voicemails that were never returned. I borrowed cars from friends and family. $120 is not fair compensation for the extreme delay in delivery, hours spent trying to acquire information on the location of our car and for the inconvenience that we caused our friends and families by borrowing their vehicles while we waited for our own to arrive. Our offer back to you is a refund to us of $500, which we still don't believe is fair compensation, but is attainable and realistic. In the end, refunding us this amount, is a cost savings for you - if we had used a rental car, you would have owed us $50/day x 21 days = $1,050 which is more than the cost of the original shipment of the car. I expect to hear from you promptly or receive a refund or I will contact your affiliates. read more

I shipped 2 of my cars through this company and my truck was 10 days late. I had to get a rent a car for 4 days. My other vehicle was a week late. Don't plan on using this company again. Could of shipped for cheaper through other companies. I paid the extra money in hopes that this company was "dependable". There was not any communication to where my vehicles were and when I called they would tell me it's "in transit" but did not know where the vehicles were at. I had to call them every single time. Never got any update emails either like I was supposed to. Overall just a frustrating, poor, and expensive experience. read more

No problem with planing and delivery of the vehicle but during transit someone had opened the closed windows of the vehicle and rain water got inside the vehicle which the delivery guy didn't even mention and we didn't see it until after he had left and we got inside the car. read more

Last month, my family and I relocated from Seattle, WA to New Jersey. We were referred to DAS from our moving company. I cannot say enough positive things about this company. Armando was incredible to work with, even offering me advice to ship our two vehicles separately to ensure a lesser time without a car once in NJ. Both of our vehicles arrived in NJ a week ahead of schedule and in perfect condition. In fact, the driver hand washed my husbands car to ensure it was clean and tidy for us after a rough trip through WA. Moving cross-country is beyond stressful. DAS gave us the peace of mind we needed and I highly recommend them to anyone making a move. read more

I don't usually write reviews (my first ever) but I felt this was needed. I was worried about using DAS to ship my 2012 Honda Accord from NJ to CA for a job relocation after reading their reviews, but I had heard they were good from a mechanic who ships cars regularly. They quoted me about the same arrival date (14 days if i remember correctly) and price ($1200) as all the other car shippers. I decided to drop the car off at their office in Linden since it was close. The car showed up on the exact ETA date and I received it with no dents/scratches anything. Do not use... you will regret it. Please don't be confused. Do not use. They were initially cordial and profressional over the phone but if you are an existing customer (after you've paid) they are extremely rude. I have been hung up on more than three separate occasions. They will say they don't know, sorry, goodbye. My new car move from NY to CA was supposed to take 14-17 days. They then extended that time and for $300 more I may be able to get my car in the quoted time frame. After business hours no one can or will help. I was able to pick up my car on Friday at linden...I chose to pick it on on Saturday...the car was clean and damage free.. Very horrible service worst I have ever seen in the history of shipping, first they ship the wrong car to the destination then they and extra week to ship the right vehicle then on top of it when I asked to speak to hr or manager they refuse to let me and sent me around in circles. They never informed me when the vehicle was going to be re shipped they had me go to the pick up location to get the wrong vehicle and I never got a call from the company stating this is the problem they left all for me to research on my own I would never recommend this company for any business. read more

Used them for 2 cars from NJ to Los Angeles. first car all went well. as good as the first car went the other has been a nightmare. Don't use them no matter what. if you do make sure they do not put your car in spot #1, which is on top of the driver's cab. my 2006 Prius in quite good shape (altho they found minuscule defects that you could only see while bending down and looking sideways) arrive covered in mud with dents in the roof and scratches mostly on the hood and along the sides where obviously a very big tree branch had collided with my car. DAS called me to tell me about the damage and that my car had arrived in CA. great welcome, but i was encouraged by the fact that they had the courtesy to call and warn me what was to greet me when i picked it up. Since then it's been all down hill. i got two estimates from local body shops of 8800 and 4900. then DAS sent out someone from SCA appraisers. i have no idea of what they told DAS, but DAS has offered me $1500 which barely will cover a new roof unless they can take the roof off and bump it out. it has been very hard to connect with them and it is now 2 months since i picked up the car. today, 2 months later is when i got the $1500 offer. JUst checked the Better Business Bureau which i should have done first and the results are disastrous. they were recommended to me by 2 or 3 different moving companies. i should have done my own due diligence. do yours. read more

My service counselor Craig Crawford and the service from DAS was overall pretty good for my order #46399154. My vehicle came to the destination in less than a week which was a huge surprise. It was almost ten days earlier than the scheduled time. Craig answered all of my emails and questions extremely fast. My only issue was with scheduling the door to door pick up. The Livermore depot was pretty inflexible with timing, and I ended up having to drive my car to the depot in Livermore when I paid for door to door service. This was a huge inconvenience and incredibly time consuming. That is the only reason for 4/5 stars. read more

Shipped another car from NJ to SF last Aug with DAS. This time it was a 1 year old GLK, moved as part of a job relo. Once again arrived early in pristine condition, freshly washed, not a single scratch. Guys loading on/off the truck on both coasts were courteous and professional. Maybe I'm just lucky but this was my 4th excellent cross-country vehicle shipping experience with DAS. No complaints. read more

Craig scheduled pickup so that my car would arrive in LA on the exact date I needed it. My car arrived in great condition, all it needed was a good wash. Will definitely choose DAS again! read more

PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF SOME AGGRAVATION AND DON'T USE DAS!!!!!!!! How ironic that they call themselves "Dependable Auto Shippers" when they are definitely NOT dependable!!!!!!!!!! My vehicle was dropped off in Linden, NJ. We were told it would take 2 weeks to get to California. After 2 weeks came and went, I called the NJ office, and it's really the 800 customer service group. I went online to track my vehicle, and it said "in transit". I called customer service, and they told me it was "in transit" as well. When I asked where my car was, they had no idea! I told them I wanted an answer and they told me to call back in the afternoon. When I called back that afternoon, I was told it was in Missouri. I asked when I could expect it in CA, and they said they weren't sure when it would be leaving Missouri. I asked why my vehicle was in Missouri and they had no idea. I then called my rep who booked the shipping of my vehicle, and he was no better than the customer service group. He said he'd look into it for me and get back to me. I never heard from him. I called the rep back the next day, and he said he didn't call me back because he had no answers for me! He said the car might leave in a few days (which would now be week 3) but he wasn't sure. Looks like my 2011 Buick Enclave is taking the slow road to CA. I told my rep that I didn't appreciate having to pay for a rental car for a month, he had nothing to say. I've used DAS twice and had two different experiences. We had two cars shipped from CA to NY and they arrived on time and in tact. The tracking system was accurate the first time around. Our second experience with DAS is when they shipped our car from NY to CA. We got our car almost a month later and both the mirrors were scraped up and had paint smears on them. We spent $900 on a rental car while waiting for our car to arrive. DAS credited our debit card $50 for our troubles and sent over claim forms requiring two auto body estimates for the car damage. What a headache. To be fair, we shipped the car in the middle of winter... At least Mia, the customer service rep was kind and communicative throughout the process. The BBB rating on this place is an F. I cannot recommend this place and only gave two stars because of our past experience with them. read more

Poor Communication, lack of status, date missed by a bunch. Very responsive to get order, poor response after they had taken my vehicle away and I had no recourse. Background: My 2005 Toyota Tacoma truck was picked up Tuesday 23 August 2016 from Alexandria, Virginia and arrived in Lakewood, Washington to be picked up by me on Monday, 19 September. It was projected to arrive in Lakewood on Tuesday 6 September in writing and by Steve Linders, the head salesperson, verbally. Imagine my surprise then it did not show up, nor was I contacted about the delay. The vehicle was received in good condition, which was a relief. Throughout the process, there was very poor communication from DAS staff and firm in general, and they never contacted or called me...always me calling or emailing them. It took days to get responses, if at all. Hint:The only way I was able to talk to a person was to say I was trying to schedule a new vehicle pickup, which is simply crazy to have to be crafty just to talk to a human. I chose DAS over others that offered lower prices or solid guarantees, because of their Industry Leader reputation. I regret the decision to use this firm, especially when nobody could provide a status of when the vehicle would arrive. Use someone else! Wish I could post "no stars". CROOKS, POOR SERVICE, and INCOMPETENT REPRESENTATIVES. I used DAS to ship my car from CA to NY. When I received it, there was some damage that occurred during shipping. I submitted a claim with the company and had my car repaired. When I received confirmation of my claim, I was told the reimbursement check would be processed within 30-45 days. 3 months later I have still not received the payment, and have had an incredibly hard time getting any answer about what's going on. The claim representative, Melina, has told me multiple times she's trying to get an answer, but I've seen no results. Will never be using this company again... read more

STAY AWAY. These guys combine incompetence with indifference. Shipped a car out of the country with these guys and they told me it was on a different ship, different date and didn't even include the detailed manifest I provided. When my in country broker found the correct ship, DAS said they would charge me extra for changing the manifest (despite the fact that I gave them one prior to shipment). After payment was made you will not be able to get anyone to help you out with problems; which there surely will be. If you want your car and goods find someone else. read more

BEWARE!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I called DAS in a hurry because I was moving from Hawaii to Wyoming due to the fact that we are a military family. The military only ships cars to ports via Pasha. I needed them to pick up my car from the (pasha) Los Angeles port and bring it to Wyoming. Carol Erwin answered the phone and got everything set up for me told me frank Scoto towing is picking up my car from the port and in that same phone call asks for my card number I gave it to her because well it was a service I was asking them to do. Everything was fine until my car gets to the port and it's time for pick up well I called Carol no answer so I left her a message on a Friday it was Tuesday the following week and I was getting scared this lady isn't calling me back and they already charged my card! I emailed her on wed and she emails me back the next day saying she told frank Scoto my car had arrived. Well to late I had already called frank Scoto and now the only communication I had was through them a job she should be doing right? I gave them a power of attorney letter because the port needed it to hand my car over to them and they didn't go pick up my car so I had to send them a new one mind you this piece of paper has to be notarized so I have to waste more time and more MONEY for a new letter. I'm already wasting a lot of money on a rental daily! I called Carol again no answer in fact goes straight to voice mail every time.I called DAS "costumer service" no answer I left a message again no call back. I emailed Carol, no email back. HELLO lady where are you? I have questions I am worried I have concerns! I started reading reviews at this point and was even more worried that they will scratch my car or it would have coffee stains in it. I'm not letting them touch my car I will be getting a new ACTUAL DEPENDABLE company because das you are not! Good thing I paid with a credit card because yup I got my money back! Now some random guy from DAS is emailing me telling me they need the power of attorney to pick up my car from Matson. What!? My car isn't even with Matson! All these high-star reviews you see are lies. I actually used DAS to move my car. They damaged the car and mentioned they would refund me the amount in excess of $250 deductible. Despite many attempts they never sent the refund. Their contract only allows me to sue them in Texas. This company is basically a bunch of thieves and crooks. I have all documentation including their declaration that they have liability and that they will pay me for the damages they caused. STAY AWAY. read more

If it were possible to give this company ZERO stars, I would have. First, despite more than one conversation with customer service, the representative that was sent to pick up our vehicle (in Kansas) had no idea whether it was 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive and threatened to leave without taking the car on the grounds that we had not been truthful (we of course had reported our car as 4-wheel drive, as is blatantly obvious from the car's name). Upon arrival, the driver attempted to get us to sign the delivery slip without first checking the vehicle, and became visibly annoyed when I requested to look over the entire car before signing anything. I should have expected the giant scuff mark on the vehicle's hood (given the level of service I had received already), but when I questioned it, I was not surprisingly told that it could not have been the fault of DAS. Apparently giant paint scuffs appear out of nowhere somewhere between Kansas and the east coast. Fast forward one month to when I finally obtained the repair estimate that was requested, and it then took over one additional month to get the repair - again, a simple paint job - approved by DAS adjusters. After approval, it took ANOTHER month to receive payment for the repair. Now, five months after the shipping occurred, DAS is trying to nickel-and-dime my family on the rental car cost that is being incurred as a result of the necessary repairs. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company in my life. Only use DAS Auto Shippers if your idea of a good time is punching yourself in the face repeatedly. read more

I just shipped a car from NYC-SFO. We allowed DAS to tell us when they needed to pick the car up in order to have it to us when we arrived. They gave us a date and said they would have it to us on a specific date (in writing). They gave them selves a month. We foolishly trusted them and on the day that it was supposed to arrive we called to find out the time of delivery only to find that our car had not left their lot in NJ. They acted as if it was not their problem and that the date they gave us was irrelevant. They kept giving us dates and when we followed up the car still hadn't left the lot. It was impossible to get ahold of anyone at the company or to get a straight story about what to expect. We probably spent over 10 hours on the phone trying to track down our car. Finally we had to have the car picked up by another company and shipped across which they did in 4 days. DAS was so unprofessional that they wanted to charge us a $160 fee to cancel the service even though they could not confirm that they could ever deliver the car. We had to fight just to not pay that fee. We ended up spending more on the 2 week rental car then the shipment cost. When we asked them to compensate us for the rental costs they said "We don't pay for rentals". read more

A true NIGHTMARE. I cannot warn you enough to stay away from DAS. The sales rep told me I had to get my car there asap so that it would arrive on my desired delivery date. They had my car for 16 days being held in ATL before it ever left. When I finally received it, it was 11 days late, they had my car for a total of 26 days, and there was a ding in the side door. Throughout the entire process I could never get a person on the phone or a response on email to the status of my car. I was completely in the dark. Once I paid, the sales rep's phone number would route straight to a voicemail. I had to call from 4 different numbers but as soon as I said my name he would hang up. Their "online tracker" does not exist. The status when you call just says: your status is "late." No dates, no details. When I finally picked up my car I met another guy who had the same experience. I transferred a car from Weehawken, NJ-Austin, Texas. Arrived 18 days late. Contrary to what I was told, you can't track the car online. When I logged in to the site, I found out that the car was "in transit." No location, no ETA, no useful information. There is no information or update given without me having to get on the phone and find out where my car is. Yes, I realize weather happens, trucks get delayed, etc. An email or notification that "hey, your car is going to be late because of x" would be a good business practice (as would actually being able to track it online and see its current location). Long story short--it's hard to get information or updates from them, they run shamefully late with no explanation, and their "offer of good faith" to me was 10 percent back of what I had paid, which seems a bit paltry to me when the car took more than twice as long to arrive as was originally estimated. Shipped car from Oakland, CA to Long Island, NY. Received a fair price for DAS in California. Dropped car off in Livermore, CA. The location in Livermore was helpful and professional. Used DAS online tracking to track my car. It was scheduled to arrive in NY in about two weeks. It arrived in NJ within 1 week of my dropping it off. I was eager to get the car so I called the NJ office and told them I would come and get it. They offered to deliver it the next day. They called later that afternoon to tell me the delivery time (9-noon). Showed up at 10am the next day. Driver was courteous and professional. I think there are very minor scratches on the car but I honestly have not heard of anyone who shipped without at least minor damage. The car arrived a full week early, they were one of the cheapest quotes, the customer service in Texas was excellent and the car was in very good condition. I would definitely use them again and will recommend them to others. read more

Shipping our car was the aspect of the move I was most worried about. Everything I had read online and everyone I'd talked to had said that there was no such thing as a good experience shipping a car. There were all sorts of horror stories about cars getting dropped off with all sorts of damage, an excessive amount of extra miles on it, flat tires, covered in oil or other fluids and bugs and deadlines that were rarely met with no compensation. Turned out our car was going to be later than expected which initially seemed like a red flag to us, but after sorting out a misunderstanding, Dependable Auto Shippers had an open ended rental car arranged for us from the expected day of delivery until the actual drop off (this morning). They arranged everything with Enterprise and even had a representative from Enterprise call us to confirm literally 2 minutes after getting off the phone. Our car was dropped off to us this morning in the exact same condition as it was when we left it with DAS. There wasn't a scratch or weird fluid to be found on the car. The customer support and drivers were all great to work with and extremely friendly. Would definitely work with them again. read more
