What I soon found out was that this place feeds the homeless and the less fortunate through its sales of (mostly) donated items. Upstairs, they have mostly clothing and downstairs has various items with a room dedicated to kid's toys. I spotted a couple of "Mach 5" cars from the cartoon Speed Racer - one of my childhood favorites. I was also told that the items from Luray Caverns were donated by the tourist attraction and these items were selling for about $1 - a far cry from the $8 they gouge people at the actual site. My girl picked up a shirt she liked and we were happy with our finds. The people running the store were very cordial and couldn't have been more helpful. Check the place out - you never know what you might find.

The store has a great selection of beads and jewelry making supplies. There is also some clothing for people and American girl dolls. Susan (the owner) has carefully catalogued the source of seemingly every product in the store. She was even able to tell me the name of the tribe in Thailand that silversmiths who handmade my gorgeous earrings are from. Unfortunately, I forgot pretty much immediately. This would be a 5 star review, but the things that make this shop such a refreshing find are also negatives for many shoppers. The store is really small. The space is set up nicely, so even in the small space, shopping feels like a treasure hunt. A small shop also means limited selection as far as styles and sizes of clothing offered. Overall, I had a lovely experience shopping at Shenandoah Moon and would recommend visiting the shop.
