Chiropractic is looked down on by conventional medicine, but as they say, the proof is in the…read moreresults. Medical doctors generally have exactly two tools in their toolbox, drugs and surgery, because that's usually all they're taught in med school. Chiropractic doctors go beyond that with various other tools, most notably direct physical manipulation. The experience of both my wife and I has been that chiropractic doctors are more knowledgeable, more concerned with our well-being, and more successful in treating orthopedic pain than medical doctors. That's certainly true in this clinic. In particular, Dr. Arbuckle has been exceptional in helping my wife with her pain. After a medical doctor didn't help her, I suggested Dr. Arbuckle whom I'd seen myself, on the basis of "it couldn't hurt to try". Since then I can't count how many times she's thanked my for suggesting she go, because Dr. Arbuckle has really been helping her.

He was not only knowledgeable about how to treat her, he also made her very comfortable during some mandatory moments of discomfort. Immediately after the session, our daughter was already able to walk more normally and with less pain. She has been doing the mobility exercises Dr. Perez sent and is feeling so much better. Thank you Austin Sports Therapy and Dr. Perez for getting our daughter on a much faster (and better) road to recovery!

Front desk ladies are always kind, empathetic, very helpful and professional. Clean environment…read more Pleasant atmosphere. Dr J. Taylor Lackey is professional, knowledgeable, and very well manages his time. Most of my visits, I have be able to see him in just 5 minutes. Only one time that I needed to wait about half an hour. Overall never a very long wait. Dr. Lackey well planed and it really helped saving patients' time. When he knew the reasons of my visit, he ordered me for an x-ray in prior to see him, and he told me that I could call to get an MRI order without the need to go to his office again. I have seen Dr. Lackey for my tennis and golf elbows, my dislocated tendon at my pinky finger, and lately a lump at my inner elbow. He is very attentive and provided me with the necessary physical therapy and medication. Claudia, Dr. Lackey's Medical Assistant, has been very kind, considerate, and attentive. She has tried her best to coordinate the doctor's orders and the x-ray unit in order to make it as fast and effective as possible. She has gone over everything slowly to make sure I understand everything right. Maybe the clinic has been too busy lately causing me a hard time reaching her. I left 2 voice messages and have been waiting over 48 hours, but never got a call back. I needed to leave the 3rd message before getting a call back causing me almost unable to get my MRI scheduled before my long trip. The front desk ladies or the scheduling ladies are very nice, always very helpful and are excellent at their jobs! When she knew I couldn't get a schedule at Austin Sports Medicine Lab, she recommended me 3 other labs in Austin and the near by areas and fax out my MRI order to all other labs right away. Finally, I could get my MRI scheduled on the last day before my traveling. I have experienced some difficulty at the x-ray unit inside Austin Sports Medicine. I have had conditions at both of my arms, but the x-ray technologist did the x-ray only one of my arms. I told him right away, but he refused to check even if I asked him politely and more than one time. When Claudia found out, she talked to the technologist and asked him to do the x-ray again for my another arm. Instead of fixing the mistake and having me next in line, he seemed upset and put me the last in line! And this time I waited over 30-40 minutes and still couldn't get an x-ray. Ended up Claudia told me that Dr. Lackey would pull my old x-ray for my another arm, so I didn't need to wait longer. I just wish the technologist was cared to listen to patients and spent a little time double check things. It could help prevent the mistakes from happening and save a large a mount of time for both patients and himself. In Sum: I highly recommend Austin Sports Medicine and Dr J. Taylor Lackey!

Not very impressed with this office at all…read more First - There is zero parking available. (The worst I've ever seen at a doctor's office). People were circling, and alot were parked illegally, even in the grass. I was forced to park next door at all the retail shops, even though there were a ton of signs saying they'd tow. Not really a great first impression. Second - My appointment with Dr. Meghpara felt very rushed, and was not near as thorough as other doctor's I've seen (and what I would require to consider it a worthwhile visit). It was my fault for not getting x-rays from another doctor over in time before my appointment (the office didn't remind me to bring any, and I honestly just didn't think about it until a few days before). I did bring my MRI images and report, and he basically said he had no use for those. I asked if we should take another X-ray at the office, so that he could see my current state, and he basically said it wasn't necessary. He also had me do only a few movements in the office (totaling about 10 seconds) to test out my pain, whereas two other doctors had alot more comprehensive exam. He then proceeded to give me his opinion without examining any x-rays or (from what it seemed) the MRI CDs I had brought in. He just went off of what I told him my situation was, what my last doctor had said (a few weeks before), and basically agreed with that assessment. At this point I was just ready to leave, as I was already disappointed and knew that he is not a doctor I would return to. I wish I would've just avoided going there for another opinion, and wasting $80.

Yet they were cautious about my distancing from other patients and kept me safe at all times. The receptionist, the Technical lady who took the x-rays, the PA who spoke with me and took a first look, Dr. Gallagher and the checkout lady were all so nice, yet efficient and professional. Second visit to discuss surgery was exactly as fine! From entering to leaving their office, I felt like a very special person, a king!!! Their work is excellent, including Dr. Gallagher's. The surgery went as he had explained. The recovery was as expected. Candidly, the first 2 weeks was a bit uneasy. But the two catheters into the upper and lower knee kept pain at bay for the first 5 days. Then the Prescriptions definitely helped me minimize pain for the next 4 weeks until I was out and about. I ran out of one of the meds and used the portal to reach Dr. Gallagher. He ordered those from my neighborhood pharmacy and my wife picked them up in couple of hours. In all my confidence in Dr. Gallagher and his team is extremely positive. You can trust their word and their work plus they'll make you feel great!

I have been going to PW since 2014 and have nothing but great things to say about their office…read more First, you will always be greeted by warm smiles from the front desk. The ladies up here are such an essential part to why this office flows so smoothly at each visit. They are patience and always take the time to answer any of my questions, and if they don't have the answer, they are willing to find it and get back to you. As for the doctors, I have seen them all; Dr. Sellers, Dr. Shaner, and Dr. Olson, however this review is for Dr. Olson, due to being his ongoing patient. I have been a chiropractic patient for over 6 years, and go for adjustments more on maintenance plan. He always recommends a specific plan, especially when I have any flareups. He is very thorough with the initial evaluation, and every visit after that. He listens to my complaints, and can typically find discomfort that I don't mention. If you follow his treatment plans and, work on your exercises and therapy I guarantee you will feel better in good time. He is very knowledgeable, and truly cares about his patients. If I happen to miss an appointment, or have a new injury, he is very accommodating with his schedule and gets me in immediately. I also appreciate that if I don't make it in for a good amount of time, he will call or send a text to see how I am doing. I always refer him to anyone who has any kind of issues (chiropractic) that I think he can work through. Working on your exercises are essential to getting better, and with the crew they have working with you, you'll stay motivated to keep doing them. Dan will have you laughing to the point you don't even realize you are doing stretches and exercises. All the techs are great and very knowledgable, and hearing they make you do exercises can be intimidating, but don't let that stop you, they modify for your comfort. And for one of my favorite reasons I continue to keep going to Performance Wellness are their massage therapist. I have had some of the best massages, and feel that the therapist are a huge part of me being able to stay on a maintenance plan with the doctors. From my most recent encounters, this review will be for Melissa Levin and Nicole Poole. To start, I can't get enough massages, and Melissa Levin is an amazing therapist. I've seen her for specific issues, and every time she addressed them and worked on those areas, I've noticed immediate relief. She is very in-tuned with her techniques and her clients. She is professional and at times I go in with wanting her to figure out what kind of massage my body needs, and she is very good at reading that. Nicole is just as great, and her hours work well for needing late evening times. She has such a soft tone to her voice which relaxes me, and her touch is the same. Be open with her so she can address your problem areas. Both therapist will ask what part of the body you want them to work on, so be open with them so they can address your issues. If they happen to notice you're tighter in certain areas, they will work through it all while educating you, and giving you advise on how to work on it at home. You might not realize, but they communicate with your doctor to make sure they are addressing your problem areas, which is great because as a whole, the entire office cares about your health and getting you better with their care.

Parents, please be aware…read more My 22-year-old daughter was seen at Texas Orthopedics for a broken ankle. At her second appointment -- just 10 days after the fracture -- Dr. Robert Blais asked about her pain level. She explained that she was still experiencing significant pain. At that point, he stated he was concerned she could have Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). We were stunned. It had been 10 days since a confirmed broken bone. From what we understand, pain at that stage is not unusual. While waiting for imaging, my daughter searched CRPS online. She discovered it is sometimes referred to as the "suicide disease" because of the severe, chronic pain associated with advanced cases. By the time we left the appointment, she was in tears -- terrified that she was facing a life-altering diagnosis. Whether CRPS should or should not have been mentioned that early is a medical judgment. What is not debatable is the emotional impact of introducing a severe, worst-case condition to a 22-year-old patient so soon after a routine fracture -- without clear context about probability, diagnostic criteria, or reassurance. The result was immediate and profound distress. Physicians absolutely have a duty to consider complications. They also have a responsibility to communicate carefully, proportionately, and with awareness of the psychological impact their words carry. This was our experience. Parents and patients: ask questions. Ask about likelihood. Ask about timing. Ask whether a concern is common, rare, or simply precautionary. And if something feels disproportionate, seek a second opinion. Advocacy matters.
