Martins Food Market - This day I only took 3 pics, but if Walmart, McDonalds, Sheetz can remodel and keep bathrooms clean - why can't Martins?

I've been shopping at Martin's for many years ,probably at least 30. I always liked the store until…read morea recent incident. There is a lady who is going in there with a small dog and putting it in a cart. This dog is not a service animal. It ooks like and acts like a regular pet. It is important for people who need service animals to have them everywhere but they do not sit in carts and they are well behaved. I was waiting by the lottery machine and the dog was out of the cart rnning up to me several times. I probably would not have said anything if it had not been annoying me. This lady turned and asked me if i was waiting to play the lottery. It was obvious I was and when she did I asked her if the dog was hers and why it was in the grocery store. She said she had special permission fromt he store manager and she had anxiety so she needed this little dog which was ridiculous. I looked up the law on this and only service animals are allowed in grocery stores, not emotional support animals. The worse thing about it is the fact that she puts the dog in the cart instead of having a leash and controlling it alongside the cart. I wrote a letter to the manager of the store and received no response so I am assuming this is alright with him even though this is a health and sanitation violation. Oh sure, the dog is cute and all that but it is in a cart that anyone could get afterwards. And to be blunt, that dog's rear end and paws are all over that cart , a cart that you or I may unknowingly put our produce and food stuffs on after this woman leaves the store. And talking to the assistant manager and secutrity guard were useless at the time, even though at that point this woman was calling me names and saying she was purposely going to stay at the lottery machine to keep me from using it.

It's a nice store, well stocked, and the staff has, for the most part, been pleasant. The Yelp…read morelisting says it's open 24 hours, but this is not the case. It opens at 7, which is very inconvenient for those of us who are early birds. It would rate a 5 if not for that.

We should have known that we were going to be in for an interesting experience here when we pulled into the parking lot. Local law enforcement just happened to be on the scene. We honestly don't know what was going on in here, but there was a big manager presence at the front of the store near customer service. We walked up to return our items and had a bit of a wait as the confusion of what was going on was starting to subside. Once we were acknowledged that we were there it was still a few minutes before we were assisted. The girl that assisted us was very nice, and a bit funny, even if it were a dry wit she had. We went through the motions of the return and when it came to my dad receiving the funds back she gave my dad three choices. Gift card, back on the debit card, or cash. Cash was the option as we all know that it can take a few days for it to return to your account. Throughout the transaction we got to witness a funny exchange between the employees. While all the hubbub was going on with law enforcement an associate came to the counter asking for the cart key. One of the many managers that was dealing with the hubbub was informed by the girl helping us of the need. The manager looked a bit frantic while searching the counter for the said cart key. Exasperated, the manager asked where the cart key would be. The girl, with as much unenthusiastic sarcasm simply replied with, "It's hanging on a hook that says 'cart key'." I think there was a roll of the eyes in there too. I'm not sure. I kind of chuckled to myself until we walked away so I could laugh. I think this is a prime example of how competent some managers are in any given setting.
