This is crazy, and what I was left with was nothing even remotely close to what I had asked for in the picture. Which once again, another factor of him refusing to give a yes or no. The only thing we were clear on in the end is that the cut and style were sub-par, and that I did NOT want to pay.

I have been going to Darrah on and off for years (didn't get my hair done often) until about 2 years ago, when I decided I wanted to start doing vivid colors in my hair. Darrah not only does a fabulous job, but makes sure my hair is still healthy too! My last color appointment with her was in mid-July....today while out shopping, a woman stopped me and told me my hair was the best dye job she had seen. I will admit that I am THE PICKIEST person when it comes to choosing someone to cut my hair, because I hardly ever want to cut it, but I'm also THE CHEAPEST. (which almost never goes hand in hand LOL) I've paid the highs and lows for cuts, and I definitely have had my share of horror stories!!! Luckily, this is not one of them: Emily Thai has her own little room and the rest of the place is a nail/waxing salon. I think she's the only hairstylist there, so I'm sure she has her work cut out for her, but she's pretty fast. I went in and told Emily that I wanted 1/2 an inch off (because I know that usually means 1-2inches in stylist terms), and I was kind of thankful I said that. Emily knows how to maintain the overall length of the hair, but I think because my ends were in bad shape, she tended to cut a lot of shorter layers throughout. Luckily, I'm a fan of layers, so that didn't bother me much (other than the fact that layers make braids look gross, and the side braid is my go-to bad hair day fix up, so if I could take -0.5 stars off for that, I might have lol). BUT If you love layers, which do make great curls/waves (my favorite good hair day style) then EMILY IS YOUR GAL!!! so +0.5 stars for that. I will admit that Emily knows her stuff...my hair felt healthier as soon as I walked out. She added dimension and oomph, without sacrificing the overall length, which would have been a NO NO in my book. The lady after me even said she wanted her hair cut like mine...so that was all the validation I needed. I recommend her to anyone, but if you're not a fan of layers, I would just tell her that upfront. Not to mention, I did have preexisting layers that were probably just stale in her eyes lol; it's my fault that I didn't let her know that I was hoping to eventually grow them out, but she did so well that I can't complain! I will definitely be back, and for $15 it's a guilt-free part from dead ends and a happy ending! Enough of my rambling....go get your hair cut by Emily!

Most hair salons serving exclusively Black clientele have earned reputations of extended waits and overbooking delays. Such is not the case with B. Lauren Salon. The service is personal and highly professional. From the moment she started servicing my hair, I could tell that Nikki has earned all the accolades posted about her. She began by asking pertinent questions about my previous hair care routine and making helpful recommendations. The time under her care was personal and individualized and we were in the salon alone. The finished product was even more satisfactory than I had expected and more than I actually hoped for.
