This is a caring community of teachers and staff that work hard to bring the richest curriculum to their students. The garden is amazing!

So happy my son and daughter decided to attend SDSU, best decision ever! They are getting a great…read moreeducation and it is semi close to home. My daughter was part of the COVID class so she transferred in her junior year and had classes mainly on campus(which she loved). She commuted to/from school/home. She had early enough classes that she did not really have to fight for parking. My son is currently a sophomore there and has been living on campus. He was lucky to find Wonder roommates and friends and lived in locations on campus within walking distance of everything. So far it is hard work but he is enjoiyhis time at State. There are so many great clubs, organizations, and opportunities around campus. The trolly system is pretty good as well and a great means of transportation around San Diego if they do not have a car. My daughter graduated in 2024 and really enjoyed her time there. Very lucky to have them both near by for school. Great campus!!! Oh if near by you have to check out the turtle pond, it is so amazingly peaceful and tranquil.

I currently attend SDSU and in my last semester before graduation. I will forever thank this school…read morefor the community and everything that it's provided for me. I have had ample opportunities from SDSU for my future career and also to meet friends for life. The campus is absolutely stunning and has its own farmers market once a week in the main square area. They also have so many events on campus that they do an amazing job organizing. I think one thing that really stuck out to me, especially being out of state, was that I immediately felt at home here. I joined Greek life, student orgs, and had such an amazing experience where I was able to contribute to my personal and professional development. I will forever thank this school for everything it's given me and grateful that I've found a place. The one thing I will say, however, is that I lived in Chappy and that freshman dorm building needed help. But at the same time I was in the most social building, so that allowed me to meet the friends I have now!

We feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a warm, welcoming, and enriching school community…read more From the very beginning, our family has felt supported not just academically, but personally as well. The teachers and staff truly go above and beyond to create an environment where each child feels seen, valued, and encouraged to grow. We currently have three children at the school, and each of them has had such a positive and unique experience. The balance between strong academics and character development is something we deeply appreciate. It's clear that the school is focused on nurturing the whole child, building confidence, kindness, and a genuine love for learning. One of the highlights for our family has been the musical program. Our daughters have been involved in the school musical, and it has been such a meaningful experience for them. Not only have they grown in confidence and creativity, but they've also formed friendships across different grade levels, which has been so special to see. The sense of community that comes from these programs is truly something unique. We couldn't be happier with our experience and feel lucky every day to be part of this amazing school. It's a place where children are encouraged to thrive, friendships flourish, and families feel genuinely connected.

I have only GREAT things to say about Mt. Helix Academy!!…read more My little 3rd grader has THRIVED at this school. Known to be very shy and often wouldn't participate in class, we were desperate. There wasn't ever any trouble, just no willingness to be part of school functions, class projects, and we were about to succumb to the idea that was just the way it was. No joy for school or even extra-curricular activities. Well... these teachers did amazing things!! My child is like a whole new kid. The small class sizes helped them focus on my child's needs, and the care the teachers showed made such a difference. Now my child loves school, can't wait to "try" math (it can still be hard) and is in the school play! I would have never thought this could happen. I was just looking for a place where a child could feel welcome and loved, and, oh yeah - learn. I am so very thankful that we took a chance on Mt. Helix Academy. I can't recommend them enough!

My experience with the SDSU Veterans Center was in 2021…read more I originally contacted the Veterans Center for counseling on what my next steps are and how to go through using my post-9/11 benefits. After being bounced around through a few emails I had an online meeting roughly 3 weeks later to which I was told that the online meetings are for current students only. When I told them that I was simply looking for counseling for prospective students, one of the staffers (who doesn't work there anymore) laughed at me. She forgot to mute herself and rolled her eyes after complaining that there were other things she needed to be doing. I sent a complaint to Todd Kennedy who was at the time the head of the veterans center, and although he was very apologetic about the situation I didn't feel that the issue with his staff was resolved. He replied that the counseling position that I was in need of recently was cut from the budget so they could not help in that regard, but he assured me that he would talk to his staff. Although this review is a long time coming I feel that veterans should understand that your experience may vary. I am sure things may have improved since the two years I inquired, however, I haven't been back to verify.

Their reasoning is that they can't provide services without this data and signing in after you start talking is not an option. The front desk person was explaining how everything worked during my first visit and the supervisor rudely interrupted him to deny me access to information. I literally couldn't listen anymore and did not get the information I needed. They are insensitive and unpersonable. It felt robotic. This school has enough problems and these people are just being part of those problems instead of being a welcoming break. They also haven't updated their location on the map in years, which means I had to walk all over campus to find them.
