I have sent three children to this school and unfortunately have nothing but disappointing experiences and feedback to share. When my daughter was a fifth grader, a classroom aid lifted her shirt up above her waist to check for a dress code violation (there is no dress code at this school). My daughter was humiliated, the principal failed to file a Title IX report, and the district quietly moved the aid to another school and told us it was an "HR matter." To make matters worse, the teacher who witnessed this said they "didn't want to get involved." This year, my youngest is finishing out fifth grade and the PE teacher, "Coach," took it upon himself to tell my child that their preferred pronouns (they/them) are temporary and that when they grow up, they will choose if they are a boy or girl. This was said in front of the entire class -- my child felt terrible. I sent their teacher an email that night, and when I sent my kid to school the next day, nobody even checked in with them to see how they were doing. When my wife met with the principal and "Coach," this teacher defended his actions by saying that he was doing this because life was going to be hard for anyone using they/them pronouns and they should be ready for the bullying.
Regardless of your ideology on gender or how you feel about staff putting their hands on children without consent, your kids aren't safe here. Our family's story isn't unique -- there's countless other people who have removed children from this school for the very same reasons. Don't come here. read more
