Been picking up my little cousin here for the last few days. The school took a little bit of time…read moreto get to as it was located deep within the neighborhood, I had to make a few turns, went up and down the hills before I could arrive. The first day I thought it would be easy to just stop in front of the building as my cousin told me, let him jump into the car and it would be done, but NO, it was designed as one way in and one way out. I could not turn back and got stuck in the parking lot because everyone trying to get out at the same time. His house was about 15 minutes away, but by the time we got out of the parking and hit the road, we already hit the 4 o'clock traffic, it was just terrible. People picking up their kids from this school didn't have any courtesy on driving, there's 2 lines of cars getting out of the parking lot, and they just drove from all different directions and tried to cut in front of the main line, created that traffic since they kept trying to squeeze in the middle. Sigh The second day, I learned my lesson, I parked up the hill and told my cousin to walk up the staircase. We got back home at 3:45 before everybody else still running around. So just a little suggestion for the school in the future, maybe expand the parking structure, redesign it, have someone to direct traffic when school is out, or maybe put some signs and cones out just like Costco gas station, that might works.

My teen just completed 8th grade...and had a very positive Lewis experience…read more Without a doubt, Principal C. is fair, invested in the programs, the students, his staff & he keep students in line and learning! He manages the school & the daily challenges well. I have witnessed some of the messes, and heard about other challenges....& don't believe many adults could handle or juggle what he deals with daily. These people have a full plate! Lewis is a melting pot of kids from diverse backgrounds. In addition, His staff is proficient, and many of the teachers went beyond my expectations. In particular, Ms. Sandoval is a science teacher who regularly keeps kids AND parents informed of assignments & areas of study where we can engage with our kids to get them to review their lessons. And, I'd like to mention Mr. Hughes who made learning American history more fun. He was named teacher of the year for good reason! Check out their standardized test scores & school rank! Kudos to the principal & his team!

This is why the world is as it is becuase ADULTS who are supposed to supoort our students FAIL them OVER AND OVER!!!! Lewis you are a joke, and your district is a joke, DO BETTER FOR OUR KIDS!!!!!!!

any reviews before 2020 are extremely outdated and do not apply at all…read more also a lot of the reviews are done by parents of students. students that actually experienced this place should review it. this place is trash. I got horribly bullied. called names, cursed out and called a variety of slurs on the regular, so much so that I had to change my name. I also got assaulted and inappropriately touched often. all authority figures at the school did nothing to stop all of this. I'm not hyperbolizing. I went into this school a happy kid, thinking the world is great and everyone has something good in them. I left with a horrible anxiety disorder, plenty of trauma, and probably other stuff I haven't even discovered. I highly recommend sending your kids anywhere but here. I've heard Farb middle is okay, and its less than a mile from De Portola. the free food and slightly better teachers are not worth the horrible people at the school. before 8th grade promotion we were told to fill out a little form about our experience. I was brutally honest and it blew their minds. I just wanna say that I did everything right during middle school. when there was a problem I tried to fix it, brought it to adults, and did everything I could to try and make it stop. but instead of keeping me safe. the teachers and principal and all the adults were focused on how punishment would affect the aggressors. I had such a horrible experience here that in my 9th grade year I wrote a 7 page narrative essay BRIEFLY summarizing everything that happened. the teacher read it and wanted to talk to me. all of this is disorganized thoughts and stories bout this place. but what I'm trying to say is that you should avoid this place. also. thank you to Mr Labrador for teaching me to be strong and refuse to take crap. thank you to Mrs Hudson for trying your best to help me. Thank you to Mr White for giving me a safe space to hide away, Thank you Mrs Maria of the YMCA for helping me return to therapy and helping me do better. and F you Jaramillo for letting this happen.

And I sense many more exclamation points throughout this review!! Friday's chill on the hill was the highlight of my week. There is an awesome mural on the side of the library building. Breadsticks with ranch or tomato sauce was my lunch of choice, i hope they still have it!! Weekly monkey bars tests and timed half mile runs and capture the flag and high jumps...oh how i miss PE. Learned to make french toast and rice krispie treats and eggs in a basket in home ec!! Middle school was some of the toughest years, but De Portola made it totally worthwhile!!

In my eight grade year, I had the perfect schedule. For science I had Mrs. Blaisdell. For math I had Mr. Cabrera. For English I had Mr. Warnke. For History I had Mr. Hess. And last for not least I had Mrs. Rankin for AVID. Mrs. Rankin is the one that helped me the most making sure I made my way up to Oregon State University. She pushed me to my limit and sometimes even higher. Farb is a small school but they have a big heart. The counselors are outstanding and always know how to make your day better. I am now going to San Jacinto High School as a 9th grader with a swing ready to be thrown at the work. I wouldn't have made it this far for all of my outstanding teachers and staff that helped me up when I was knocked down. Once a Firebird. Always a Firebird.
