They have the best selection! Super nice employees, lots of cool products to buy. The employees are very helpful if you need it for your project as well! The attached makers space is incredible, too! Lots of people hanging out creating amazing things! read more

Darn Knit Anyway - Literally the best yarn, crochet, knitting store I've ever seen! - Knitting Supplies Near Me - Stillwater, Minnesota

This is the friendliest most helpful yarn store I've ever been to!! Their yarn selection is amazing and they give classes and have a beautiful place to sit and knit! read more

As a distance customer, and not a great knitter; I cannot say enough positives about those women. Every email, every newsletter is designed to make you feel welcomed -- every order is filled with care! There is an amazing selection of yarns and accessories; all fairly priced! This is a small business that should be visited, nurtured and encouraged as they bring good and the best to all! read more

I recently moved to the area and have been checking out all the local yarn stores. So far this one is my favorite. The staff is super friendly but not overbearing, the selection is great, and everything is very well organized. I have yet to attend any of their classes or events, but the lounge space attached to the store seems very inviting and comfortable. read more

Although now I am a long distance customer, the time that I lived in Stillwater this was a place of happiness for me. Everyone was always happy to help with anything from selecting a pattern to different ideas on yarn to make it your own look. When my wife and I travel back to see her family we always stop by and see everyone, it's a breath of fresh air, I'm glad it's there and not another clothing shop or bakery, we would always step across the street for coffee and some pastries. 10/10 would recommend. read more

I love coming into a store where Amy comes and greets me and asks what I am looking for. I have even taken classes with this location and learned so much that it keeps me coming back for more. The price can be a little over the top, but the value and the quality are above the rest. Plus, they will spin it for you so you can begin your project immediately. read more

This is the best yarn shop around! Always friendly and helpful! I brought something in to get fixed and they said to leave it and come back. All fixed! read more

Took their fall knit and cruise. The staff was amazing (thanks, Lori, for the help picking out a project) and the cruise was so fun!!!

Had a little bonding day with my daughter today and we spent it exploring downtown Stillwater. We stopped in all the little shops down Main Street. However, this one stood out the most to me. Not only did it have a cute name. It was housed in a very cute building. Filled with a treasure trove of items for your favorite knitter/ crochet(er). Both my daughter and I are oblivious newbies to this art and when asking the friendly staff on where to start they did not judge. Instead of shoving expensive how to books or starter kits or other sales pitch ideas down our throats... they actually LISTENED to us and instead suggested a YouTube channel to watch as guidance. They were helpful, kind and friendly. We most certainly will be back! read more

A lovely yarn store. Good stock of "nice" yarn. Not inexpensive but quality. What makes this store special though are the people. They are very helpful, and kind. They helped me with the Peep patten and yarn not bought here. I love to make a day trip here and then sit along the water to knit for a bit... even in the COVID pandemic. Please support this small business . read more

This has hands down been my favorite yarn shop for years, even though I live out of state and have shopped in yarn shops overseas as well. Since we don't live locally I'm only able to shop here 2-3 times/year. Yesterday Aimee assisted me over the phone regarding an online purchase, and I won't go into specifics, but her customer service was far beyond what I could have expected. If you are not familiar with the shop, it's chock full of amazing yarn and pattern kits, as well as knitting tools, bags, and various giftie items. My husband loves when I shop here because he hangs out in the 'lounge' next door (inside access from the shop) which means I can take as long as I want looking at yarn haha. read more

Wow, wow, wow. This place is so cute and really has got it right in terms of product, decor, classes, staff and location. Stillwater is such a cute little place to go and spend a day and this adorable shop tops that experience off. I've been there twice and both times the staff have been exceptionally friendly, chatty and willing to help. Looks like there's a great classroom facility so you don't have classes taking up room in the shop itself. Very good variety of yarn and a small selection of very cool fabrics/sewing misc. Highly recommended!! read more

See all

What a great shop!! I wish I lived close enough to be a regular. Everyone was super nice and they seemed to really have it all and something for every type of knitter. There was a class or a group meeting while I was looking around the store, and while I was checking out they had 3 stacks of books for their upcoming book groups - all of this looked and sounded so fun! If you live in Stillwater, enjoy this place! As far as selection, they have great brands and some that I haven't seen before but liked. They also carry a selection of fabric in the back so if you sew or want/need a lining or a border, there are some cute ones back there. I walked out of there with Coastal Knits (I thought I'd have to order online but have now saved on shipping!), some Malabrigo yarn - I love seeing these in person and getting my squoosh on, and a yarn bowl (beautiful and they have a bunch of these - again great to see and buy in person!). read more

Mercy!! I'll have to drive two hours to get here but it'll definitely be worth the trip if only to sit 'n knit. I came to Stillwater to visit a friend and discovered this incredible knit shop. Huge selection of beautiful yarns; warm, and comfortable atmosphere with an enormous room with a fireplace; various groupings of easy chairs, sofas and coffee tables throughout; floor-to-ceiling windows that provided for great lighting, and a very long table at one end where two classes were being held, one at each end, with about 5-6 ladies in each class. It was a Saturday and most all sitting areas were occupied but ladies we're coming and going the three hours I was there. There's seating in a balcony too and in the summertime there are chairs and tables in an adjoining garden area. But, all that aside, it's the staff that made the greatest impression. They were so welcoming and helpful. I bought two skeins of lovely yarn, one clerk--maybe an owner--wound it without my asking; the other gave me a pattern, no charge, and offered to show me how to do a knit behind stitch. I'll drive two hours in a heartbeat, maybe even stay overnight to take a class. read more

A cute shop that is right at home in Downtown Stillwater. If you love to knit, they have oodles of yarn, needles, roving etc. There are plenty of big windows to let the light in so you can see the yarn. There is a big class area off to the side so you wont feel cramped while learning. There is a parking lot right outside (free from oct-april). The best part are the comfy couches in the back. Just right for a foot sore husband. read more

Fabulous shop! Staff is always helpful and kind. Great selection of yarn and willing to order quickly if they don't have a full sweater quality. Definitely shopping here again. Very much enjoyed my shopping experience! read more

They have a great selection of yarn and supplies, but their greatest asset is their staff. They are fun and welcoming and helpful. Before we had ever spent a dollar in the store, they spent an hour helping my daughter with her crocheting. I had been calling around looking for a class for her, without much luck. I called them and was told to just stop in. Next thing I know, I'm taking a knitting class, after being convinced I could never do it. They have many classes and are always available for help. It's really a gift to the community read more

My absolute favorite yarn shop. A warm and friendly place where the staff is always willing to help solve a knitting problem or to help you choose the perfect yarn for a project. The store also carries a large inventory beautiful yarn - I never leave emp handed. If you knit, go there; if you love someone who knits... get them a gift certificate! read more

This is the kind of place where you just want to hang out and soak up the crafty goodness of it all. My friend and I took a sewing machine 101 class here and it was a great value-plus, now I'm no longer terrified of my sewing machine! The selection of both yarn and fabric was impressive, and they had some cute notions and gift items as well. This is a must stop at store anytime I'm in Stillwater! read more

This is an absolutely lovely store. The staff is very friendly and always willing to help. A very well rounded variety of yarn and the colors are all neatly organized which makes for easier shopping. The samples are adorable and the gift area in the front is perfect if you're looking to give a handmade item but don't have the time to make it yourself. The classroom looks amazing and I wished I lived closer to Stillwater so I could actually join in. The store was definitely worth the drive from Eau Claire and I will be back! Such a great shop! read more

The owner is really a great person. Its a really nice open space which sometimes doesn't happen in yarn shops. Lots of natural light assuming you go during daylight. The staff goes out of their way to help you but not at all pushy. read more

Love Darn it Anyway, I'm proud to say this is my LYS! They consistently carry a solid stock of high quality yarns and bring in quite a few interesting independent yarn companies. It's fun to join in on the project of the month, take classes or drop in for their open knit night! read more

Stopped in an 12/16/2018, a lovely winter day in Stillwater. Not one of the three employees in the empty (customer devoid) store could muster up a greeting. Yarn selection- meh. The knitted examples supposed to inspire were shopworn, (I don't need to go to Revelry for inspiration). Bought a cute tea towel, and the person taking my measly 9 bucks could barely conceal her disdain. read more

Definitely a cute shop, lots of already made things in the front. Which is great for gift giving. They have a decent supply of yarn. I couldn't figure out their system, but I wasn't particularly looking for any thing. They had some fun colors and yarn you don't see just everywhere. Will definitely go back once I make a dent in my mountain of yarn at home. read more

I used to love this store until I took a class & returned for a question. Although I was helped right away my question seemed to upset the woman working (not one of the two helpful and lovely owners). She ended up raising her voice, telling me I did something wrong & then conceded that there was indeed something inconsistent between the pattern & the class. I will not be returning to shop there as there are many other choices for all things knitting. Nice shop, nice selection of yarn, but poor service. read more

My all time favorite yarn store and place to take knitting classes! The staff is so helpful and, as long as it's not Black Friday or an otherwise super busy day, they'll wind your yarn purchases into balls for you! I always find something when I walk in...which is generally why my husband and I don't come to Stillwater too often - because a trip to Stillwater, as a knitter, just isn't complete without a stop at DKA! Can't wait to take classes this fall:) read more

This is a wonderful yarn store and I am always happy to shop here. The staff I s friendly and helpful. The yarn variety is wonderful.

Love, love LOVE this shop! Warm, friendly atmosphere, gorgeous selection of yarn. Great fabrics that I've not seen in other shops. Unique finished items - a great place to find one-of-a-kind gifts! Large classroom and comfy lounge area mean that you can settle in to work on a project without feeling like you're in the way or on display. Great staff, always willing to help you find what you need, or even get you through a sticky spot in a pattern. Oh - and always free parking (for Brick Alley patrons) right behind the shop! read more

Best darn yarn shop in the area! Upbeat staff. Yarn selection is good with new yarns being added regularly, plus fabrics, notions and books. High quality, handmade gifts for the non-crafty. A Not to Be Missed Shop! read more

One of my favorite yarn shops in the twin cities!! The most helpful staff I ve ever found in a shop.. Plus there is open knit Thursday night and Monday afternoons, even the regular customers are wonderfully helpful with all things fiber .... I am defiantly a customer for life . read more

This yarn store employees are very knowledgeable and fun to work with. Great yarn selection.

This is my VERY favorite yarn store!! I have been to most all in the cities. I drive 45 minutes to get there and I drive past several yarn stores on the way! The staff is always helpful and they treat you as if you are family rather than a number and wanting to sell you something! Much of why I continue there is because they treat me very well and treat my challenging daughter with extreme respect! They are amazing in every single way!!! They will help even if the yarn is not purchased there. They don't have a lot of hard and fast rules like other yarn stores! IT IS THE BEST AROUND no doubt and I am difficult to please!!!! read more

LOVE this place. They let you wander as much as you want, and only check in if you need help. Best to park elsewhere and walk over, however, as the lot near them is a pay lot now (not their fault). I suppose it was only time before that happened. Wonderful selection, classes, great support options to learn from fellow knitters and the store staff. read more

I can honestly say that this place has the best customer service I have EVER encountered. If you frequent yarn stores, you will be pleasantly surprised to find that there is no yarn snootiness here! Their selection of yarns and fabric will make you drool. As a mom of three, I also appreciate that there is an area for my kids to play or color while I make my selections. Even if you don't sew/knit/crochet/felt, they feature work from some great local artists so it is totally worth a visit for anyone! read more

This shop is really something special for crafters. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. There is a ton of yarn in a small space, and the staff is very helpful. They carry yarn standards like Cascade 220 and Berroco and other harder to find brands like Dream in Color and Three Irish Girls. They have a nice selection of bags and accessories in addition to fabric and books. If you are a knitter, crocheter or someone who likes to sew, this store will be like heaven on earth for you. read more
