I have been coming to get my teeth cleaned, but I had a very disconcerting experience which makes…read moreme not want to come back. Part of why I don't want to come back is that people are unable to switch off their personal judgments about others especially in professional settings and it is getting to the point that it is affecting their quality of work. This is what I experienced with the dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth. She not once but 4 times told me to not eat for 15 minutes after the cleaning and I found that to be extremely rude, and patronizing. Once or twice would have sufficed but she was passive aggressive and kept doubling down. I lost my patience, due to her excessive repetition and being condescending as to insinuate I'm so food obsessed that I can't handle not eating for 15 minutes, and I responded by saying I think I can handle for not eating for the time permitted. She added more fuel to the fire by sarcastically repeating herself it is only for 15 minutes to insult both my intelligence and my size. Quite frankly it's childish and petty to make someone feel like they're less than just because they are in a body that is more than a size 6. This is a classic example of the vitriol and the body shaming I deal with because of people misconstrued perceptions and judgments about me, and it is unacceptable and it needs to stop. Once or twice is enough please don't insult my intelligence and repeat yourself 4 times like I am not capable of following a simple direction. Please keep your personal judgments and opinions away from the service you're performing because you have no idea what the other person on the other end has been through. This biased against people in larger bodies is really getting out of control and needs to be contained, it's leading people on worse paths than any weight, and I refuse to be infantilized any longer.

I didn't get a call or reminder about my original appointment, so the day before I was supposed to come in, I called to make sure I was still on the schedule. The receptionist barely let me get a word in and even commented "I see that you had a broken appointment." I had to ASK for a turn to speak, but at that point, really didn't feel like explaining that it was actually their mess up, and not mine. I understand things happen and get mixed up...it's the way I was treated when I tried to correct the mix up that was disappointing and unprofessional. I ended up finding another dentist.
