The NKollectiv gallery has been humming along in its new home for quite some time now--using all three of the gallery spaces plus the long hallway quite effectively. I believe all of the studio spaces have been allocated and various workshops and classes have been conducted. A nice, light-filled workshop space is available for up to a dozen people. Nicole also offers open studio time to the public on an hourly basis. The spaces can be rented for events. A fully-equipped kitchen is available. EASEL has created a critical mass of arts-oriented businesses in Englewood. Nicole has been one of the forces behind Second Saturday Englewood. A dozen or more of the 40 art businesses, studios, and restaurants in the area offer extended hours and special events on the second Saturday of each month. The City's free BERT shuttle bus has a special route connecting these locations.

This expansive gallery is run by the talented Nicole Korbe who still finds time to do her own…read morebeautiful encaustic pieces in addition to running this complex operation. The gallery is one component of EASEL (Englewood Art Studios, Events, Lessons) which is housed on the second floor of an historic building in downtown Englewood. The only downside is that access is a bit difficult. There's a steep staircase of 20 steps in front and an even steeper fire escape off the exterior balcony in the rear. There are three large exhibition spaces. One houses continuing exhibits by the 18 member artists, the other two rotating shows of various types. Nicole focuses on Colorado artists. She has an excellent eye and the work shown continues to be of high quality. There are usually a variety of media including painting (particularly encaustic), printmaking, clay, wood, metal, jewelry, and decorative items. Pricing is in the lower midrange for original work. This is an excellent spot to start or to enhance a collection of quality local art. Nicole is charming, knowledgeable, and helpful. Don't miss this spot if you're visiting Englewood. It's even worth a special trip.

If you have had a chance to hang with Gordon, you know he is larger than life in oh so many ways. Come for the bold art, stay for the mid-century modern aesthetic. And while there, soak up the smooth sounds from the gallery and adjacent bustling south Broadway. Or, stroll over (and stagger back) from the semi-attached, but never detached, Englewood Tavern. Their reasonably priced beverages are the perfect companion to pondering art, humanity, and the cosmos. Do yourself a favor, and check out an exhibit in the immersive environment. The studios are available for month-to-month rental (there is currently a waiting list). The gallery spaces are also available for rental for art shows and other events. Free street parking is available and the building also offers an adjacent, free parking lot. The Chameleon Art Collective is resident at Blue Tile and produces periodic gallery shows there and at other venues around Denver. The gallery hosts the annual Thomas Jefferson High School Senior Art Show. Other exhibits vary widely in quality. Some are organized by the resident artists and others via gallery rental. Blue Tile has recently expanded into the north section of the main floor which offers a second, large exhibit space.

I only have a few tattoos, and usually the ones I have some type of significance. When my grandpa passed a few years ago, I knew I wanted to get something to honor him. He taught me how to drive, owned over 100 cars, and loved driving more than anything, so I figured a car would be a great way to memorialize him. Matty was the artist to bring my idea to life. He designed a mid to late 60's mustang with florals and a silhouette of my grandpa in the driver's seat. I was in love with the design as soon as he unveiled it. Based on the placement I wanted the piece on my arm I had to lay down in an awkward position, but Matty worked quickly and tattooed delicately. I couldn't be any happier with the finished product! As far as the shop is concerned, everyone was super polite. It can be intimidating walking into a tattoo shop, and you can tell they cultivated an environment for all here. I would get tattooed by Matty any day and will recommend Dedication to anyone I know looking for some new ink!
