Chicken Italian on focaccia

Great little sandwich shop on downtown Palatine . They had a lot of good paninis. The food came out quick and the servers were very helpful .

Chipotle Hummus Wrap

Good place in a convenient location in Palatine downtown. Dario's is pretty close to the Metra station. It has sandwiches and that's pretty much all they have there. Good ones, not ones from corporate chains. There's not a whole lot for vegetarians, but they can customize a few sandwiches. Came in and got a wrap to eat inside. It's about $9 for a sandwich. That's a pretty good price for the size of these. A lot of the menu is meaty. The Chipotle Hummus Wrap comes with chicken, but I got it with avocado though. Free of charge, which made sense of course. It also has grilled red onions, lettuce, and roasted peppers. Ended up being a good substitute with avocado. This I could get again because it was pretty cheap and a big lunch. Has quite a few sandwiches to choose from. It has inside and more outside seating. There's ways to get substitutes on sandwiches such as avocado to make it okay for vegans and vegetarians.

Second time back to see if it was just as good as our first...it certainly was! I ordered the veggie panini, hubby got the cubano, both were great!! They also offer salads, wraps & flatbread. Definitely will be a regular spot for us. I believe hours are 11-3.

Soup and Southwest Chicken Panini - lunch combo.

I came across Dario's on March 5 while wandering through downtown Palatine, enjoying the weather and exploring new restaurants to try. I'm so glad we chose Dario's! The place is tiny, but offers a nice selection of wraps, paninis and salads. I made my selection while I waited to order at the counter, but when I reached the register, there was a sign advertising a 1/2 sandwich and soup lunch special, so I quickly changed my mind. I ordered the Southwest Chicken Panini and a cup of soup. As I wrote this a week later, the soup is not at all memorable, but that sandwich was amazing! It was packed full of flavor and they served me a full-sized sandwich, which was a pleasant surprise. It was a very good lunch, and I'd definitely order it again, but try a different soup. My friend ordered a salad that was also very big and delicious. The only thing I'd change is to not have the food served in takeout containers for those dining in. It's just unnecessary waste.

Seriously amazing Cubano. SO memorably delicious.

Dario's is low key AMAZING. We stumbled on this place looking for a quick lunch. It's been a long time we've been blown away by a food joint let alone a homey sandwich shop next to the Palatine train station, but we're dreaming about the next time we can go back. We had the Cubano and Club. Everything from the freshly sliced seasoned meat, warm soft bread, medley of flavors, to the sweet hardworking staff. The Italian soup with the lunch special was also on point. From these two sandwiches alone, I'm convinced you can't go wrong here. Dario's made us happy. I cannot believe how underrated this place is. Really hope they can open more locations!

Cubano and Chopped Chicken Salad
Alex H.

A hidden gem in downtown Palatine! It's a small place serving one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Got the Cubano and the meat was extremely tender and flavorful. It had a perfect balance of richness from the meat and cheese and acidity from the pickles. The bread was crisp yet not hard and had the good crunch. The chopped chicken salad was also good with an extremely large portion size. Had a good amount of chicken and bacon and the avocado a perfect addition. Staff was extremely friendly and I felt like I was treated like family.

I'm a New Yorker, and although I enjoy a good Chicago deep dish, I still favor NY style pizzas. And this one is the best I can remember in Chicago. I've tried a lot. The crust is almost perfect. Well baked, crusty, chewy, and tasty. Lots of air at the edges and a great bite throughout. We had the sausage and peppers pizza. The sausage was crumbled across interior with fresh peppers. The sauce could have had a little more flavor, but it was very good - not too salty like so many others- and nicely spread across the inside of the pie. The crust held the toppings nicely- there was no mush in the middle. We also ordered a pear and pecan salad. Lots of pear squares, plenty of pecans, and a generous amount of greens. The soup of the day was a Tuscan soup - lots of beans, some sausage, cheese, and a flavorful broth. Fresh and homemade. And very good. Oh, and a pitcher of water came to our table with our plates and silverware. No issues. No problems. (From earlier reviews, we had been concerned about the availability of tap water. Ours was fine.). There was a reasonable selection of beer- including craft beers- at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed our meal. Ordering at the counter was easy and efficient. Prices were reasonable and the value was good. We found the service to be pleasant, friendly, and timely. We will be back to try other pizzas and look forward to it.

I modified a bit, but the overall ingredients are a perfect sweet and salty combo. Recommend a well done crust for an added crunch! While food earns five stars, we've encountered a few difficulties with service that have made our experiences less than ideal. Plenty of meat. -Finally, I added tzatziki, hummus, cucumbers, olives, and a few other exotic items. -All I can say is--all the ingredients were high quality, and tasted great! I will be going back again soon! -Cost was about $13 a person, $2 or $3 more than Chipotle, but worth every penny : ) Highly recommended!

The way you order is similar to Chipotle. The line was a decent line, maybe about 6-7 people were ahead of us but the line went pretty quick. You can order bowls or pita. I decided to go with the build you own. You pick your topping (steak, chicken, lamb, falafel) were the choices. I selected falafel. Next, toppings, dips, and finally dressing. And as my side, I went with the classic pita chips. The falafel I felt was not fresh out of the oven or fryer. I was good but I prefer a nice crisp but this wasn't the case. The tzatziki was good but nothing special. I was disappointed with the pita, just the way it is prepared, I prefer some of the "bubbles" on the pita to be crispy or well toasted but it was not. Overall, there was nothing truly special with the sandwich. Now, let's talk about the Original Pita Chips. They were so good and crispy. It was my favorite thing. If I go again, I'd go with a bowl and a side of chips, then dip. The atmosphere was good, crowded but was able to get seating. They had an outdoor area as well. Overall, I'll go here only if the wife wants to go but if I had my choice, I'd go to another place for a falafel sandwich. Also, you only get 4 pieces of falafel.

And, dare I say, better version. Except for their avgolemeno soup. Such a weak travesty. Please fix this. It's just a watery mess. However, everything else is delicious. I ordered the Greek Chicken with their lemon-butter rice. They debone the chicken and serve atop a mountain of their rice. If also had their potatoes (which are good) but the rice is magical. I decided to make 7 pm reservations for our favorite Argentinian Restaurant! It was easy and painless to make. A quick call. Driving to the restaurant, I was expecting it to be jam packed as the restaurant eating area is small and cozy. As we pulled into the parking lot, my hunch was confirmed. The parking lot was full and we can see people outside. We arrived a couple minutes before 7 and when I walked in, I had to work my way through people waiting to be seated. The staff was non stop busy and was in and out of the kitchen. Based on how packed it was, I knew it reservations would not be on time but for how long? I checked in and the staff member told me that a 4 top was just finishing, and it is ours as soon as they are done paying - 15 -20 minutes at the most is what he estimated. 15 minutes later, we were seated. I was happy considering how busy they were and the communication was great. We received heart shaped bread and water immediately and that was nice. They usually have breadsticks so I loved the touch of the shaped bread. The staff took a little while to get our food order, my guess was it was to pace the kitchen and the wait staff. It was ok cause we had great company at the table. We got our order in and the server was great and apologized for the wait and we totally understood. My wife and I shared a meal. Two empanadas and their cheese lasagna. My friend got calamari to share and ribeye steak. His wife got the pasta with shrimp. The appetizers came out in a timely matter, hot and fresh. The empanadas are homemade (spinach cheese and capreses). The crust is the make it break for empanadas and it was good as usual. The main course meals came out and they already split our meal which was unexpected and great service. The steak looked scrumptious and the pasta looked well dressed. As for as our lasagna, the amount of sauce was well balanced, the flavor of the tomato cream sauce had a nice tang to it, it was not loose or too thick. The pasta was tender and the parm, ricotta, and mozzarella was cheese had the right amount of each and topped with shaved parm. I loved it and would get it again. I'm a pescatarian but when I saw my friend's ribeye, I just had to try a slice. And did I make the right choice. The meat was tender and was cooked to the right temp. The chimichurri was delicious and pairs well the steak. What's Valentine's Day without sweets! We ordered Tiramisu and Flan Con Dulce De Leche to share and they were solid choices. Both were good and very tasty. The sizes were perfect to share although I would have made room to eat both of hem to myself. The overall experience was great considering how busy it was. The staff were exceptionally friendly and kept that excitement of serving the customers knowing how busy the restaurant was. I highly recommend this place do far, the friends were have dined here with has come back multiple times. They would send my text messages with pics of them dining. I always respond, "did I miss the invite?"
