So when I stumbled upon Icing On The Cupcake on J street-I was hooked right away. This shop has a pretty good location on 24th and J Street. They are connected to Chicago Fire restaurant. Parking on this busy street is mostly lots and street parking, so that can be challenging. The shop itself is pretty small and has limited seating areas inside. This particular visit was pretty unique in that I was able to pick up an "end-of-day" package of cupcakes which allowed me to try a bunch of flavors of cupcakes at a discounted price. The employee was pretty friendly-I informed him I was there to pick up my pre-packed collection of cupcakes and he went to the back and grabbed my box of cupcakes. I was able to pick up my cupcakes for only $5.99 for 5 cupcakes. My two favorites were the carrot cupcake and the peanut butter chocolate cupcake. They were very moist and very sweet-I ate those two very fast. Overall I would say my visit was a success and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to pick up a cupcake or two with or without a discount. They are great.

My friend ordered the Mr. Mango (vanilla cake filled with mango custard topped with mango cream cheese frosting), and I got the Illegally Blonde (vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream). Growing up as a kid, I always asked my mom to make me cupcakes for my birthday or special events…read more instead of cakes. I was never a cake "kid" or cake "guy". Later on in life-that all changed the 1st time someone randomly brought a Nothing Bundt Cake to a party I was attending-I was hooked. Funny thing-they are rather pricey-so I never feel very comfortable asking someone to get me a birthday cake from there, but I tell ya what, whenever a cake from there is revealed at a party, another level of party is truly achieved. Lately, I've just been getting the mini Bundlets, which are the personal-size cakes from Nothing, and they truly satisfy someone's sweet tooth without encouraging overindulging. This particular trip landed me at the store on Truxel Road in Natomas. This is my home store and one I go to pretty frequently--maybe once a month, more if I have visitors from out of town. This shop is pretty awesome, as the employees are always so friendly and the store is always so well organized and clean. They keep their display cases full of cakes and flavor options every time I go there. Very high-quality store. This particular visit was a tough choice, as I usually go with the Lemon Raspberry mini bundlet but they were advertising a Strawberry Cheesecake Swirl version and I just couldn't resist. The pictures truly don't do this cake justice--it is so sweet and so sugary while the cake maintains that perfect moisture one only gets at Nothing . It was love at 1st bite and sadness at last bite-so darn yummy. I would like to tell you the cost for one of these mini bundlets, but I had a reward and it was free -which made the cake taste even sweeter. In closing, if you're ever in the Natomas area and want to try out a Nothing Bundt Cake, feel confident that this location will give you a great product and quality customer service. I saw they had Dubai Chocolate Bundtlets and decided to give it a try - the cake was good and moist, but I wish it had more of the kataifi filling. I actually prefer the cream cheese center to the Bundt Cake itself and wish I could just order that by the tub! I like that you can order whole Bundt Cakes and Bundtinis! The inside is small and they offer little items for sale like greeting cards - they do not have tables so you usually just buy your cakes and head out. Service is always friendly when we visit this location though! Next time I'm grabbing their seasonal Banana Pudding Bundtlet! Check them out!

My only complaint is that they sometimes run out of stock because they're THAT good! We don't care much for the donuts as they are a bit dry and there are many other great donut spots that serve soft fluffy donuts. The kolaches and staxx are what keep bringing us back. Staxx have been a favorite in our family for years. My kids have loved their sweet breads since they were babies, so there's definitely a lot of nostalgia attached to this place for us. It's one of those spots that has become part of our family's little traditions, and we always look forward to coming back!

The leftovers after having sat out for a while were much more soft/moist. She also delivered it straight to my moms house for our party! Overall fantastic and my husband was so happy with it!
