Love this place! I've been here a few times now and pretty much enjoyed everything I've eaten here. There is a good selection of food, both Moroccan and Lebanese and I can recommend the lamb tagine, cous cous and anything meaty... Delicious! The lentil soup is also a winner for my other half! You must try the mint tea - it's delicious and having been to Morocco, I can say it's certainly decent! It's even nicer if you have room for baklava (sweet pastries)! It's great for couples, families and groups as there's plenty of space (split on two levels inside, a downstairs entertainment space and outdoor seating area). Outside is lovely in the summer months and if shisha is your thing, they offer that outside too! The only thing I would say to watch out for is to check the bill. Once or twice, our order has been slightly lost in translation (lots of Moroccan /Lebanese staff - definitely an authentic bonus!) and there had been additional items on the bill but the managers are always quick to sort it out, which is why I'm happy to go back! read more

This place has just about every amenity and the food is excellent on top. First, the food. The flavors are spot on without heavy handed use of sauce and seasoning. I had the lamb cous cous which had flavor in every bite. The cous cous was rich and buttery. The lamb tender with a bit of sweetness. The appetizer I has was fattoush which was bright in flavor. The greens could have been crisper but the salad was solid. So the amenities. There is the garden in the back for when the weather is good. The decor is authentic and covers the restaurant in every corner. There is a private party room, wifi, and if you are in the mood for a smoke you can take advantage of the shisha. Browsing through restaurants in nearby Stratford on the Tastecard app, I found Dar Marrakech, and having never really done Moroccan/Lebanese grub before, decided to give it a shot. Entering through the ornate (and also pretty heavy) doors, I was bowled over by the decor. No plain white walls or identikit furnishings here - the team have managed to create a fabulous Moroccan atmosphere with drapings, lights, amazingly patterned plates which I NEED in my house...you get the idea. We were sat at a table that had one chair and a section of booth. Thanks to the booth being lower than the chairs and me always demanding to sit on the comfiest seats, I had to pop a cushion under myself to actually reach the table booster seat style...but it was a comfy as heck cushion, at least. As we were using Tastecard for 50% off the bill, we weren't too worried about spends, so opted for a full three course meal and a bottle of house white. For starters, we went for a few faves - halloumi in pitta bread and calimari. The halloumi was PERFECT - like, the kind of level I wish I could cook halloumi to at home. The calimari was also great, well cooked, and both were good sized starter portions with plenty of salad to help you feel at least a little bit healthy while stuffing your face. I totally forget that prawns live in shells, and had a bit of a shock when my Butterfly Prawn main dish (yeah, clue's in the name really...) arrived fully shelled up. Argh. Thankfully, I managed to de-shell with minimum seafood-based casualties other than the prawn that decided to make a break for it and settled on the restaurant floor. And the meaty bits themselves were very tasty - although it was the harissa sauce that really stole the dish for me. So very good and just the right amount of spicy, especially mixed all up in the rice. Yum. We decided to hit up dessert too, getting some ice cream and baklava. Which I always accidentally call balaclava. I don't usually wear desserts on my head. I'm not normally that fussed on baklava but this one was actually epic, and I wolfed it down incredibly quickly. Dar Marrakech offers up some brilliant Moroccan and Lebanese food in London, and the venue decor makes the evening feel a bit special. 100% would go back - but I'll probably opt for the less messy seabass next time... read more

I love this place. It's beautifully designed, dishes are well presented and the flavours are on point! I grew up among north Africans and terribly miss that unique feeling that surrounds the food, it's conviviality, the tea and dessert after the mains and Dar Marrakech had succeed in recreating that. Everything I've ever tasted on the menu left me full and satisfied but if I had to choose, it'd be the grilled meats. Make sure you go for the mint tea after eating. Aaaaah where start with this place... It really did show a lot of promise with really authentic decor and was the ideal place to go for a nice quiet meal..Hmm but, and it's a big but... the service!! Omggg so so so slow... Literally was ridiculous! My friend asked for her glass of wine to be brought at least three times and in the end that took one hour to arrive. That really did set the tone, the entire meal lasted around 3 hours, which for 3 courses is ridiculous. Service aside, the food was very up and down. For starters we shared a moussaka and some chicken pastries. The pastries were quite nice and definitely something I'd order again.. The moussaka however, was nothing like I'd EVER seen before.. Just some random vegetables chucked in a sauce.. We almost ordered two of these and omg am I glad we didn't. So very average! Main course wise and this is what made me considering visiting again, the fish tagine was beautiful and an absolute pleasure to eat! It was sooo full of flavour and really worked well with the cous cous!! Hurrah!! My friend also enjoyed her lamb tagine. Desert wise we shared baklava and had some mint tea!! The tea was in a cute teapot and really complemented the baklava. Aside from the service, which really does need to be improved a hella of a lot, the place was really authentic and almost made me feel like I'd been transported to Morocco. read more

Had a fantastic date here! Lovely ambience with lots of space to relax and get comfy on sofa-style seating. The portions were far too big, and gave us the feeling of being at a lush feast, with lots of different bowls and samplers. I partic loved the spicy potatoes and the baba ganoush. I grew up eating Moroccan food and what a surprise!! The food is authentic and delicious, the place is beautiful and the atmosphere is very friendly. I will recommend the couscous royal or the lamb tajine. read more

Have not tried the food here but have sat and had a shisha and a beer. The shisha was just awful, the tobacco head was smashed so much that it was in the shape of a triangle, the worker told me they mix all the pipes with different flavours which is why m y shisha tasted like double apple instead of grape, As a seasoned shisha smoker I complained and spoke to the manager and voiced my opinions and he agreed that they shouldn't be running it like so and waived the charge for this shisha, I will never return to this place for shisha and if you enjoy smoking shisha I would avoid it! read more

The worst restaurant experience in a long time. The food was overpriced. I went in with my husband and made a booking beforehand. We ordered the mixed grill and to be honest, I was so disappointed with such small portion. The kofte kabab had to be the tiniest one I have ever had. There were just three pieces of cold, chewy lamb shish and three pieces of hard, overcooked chicken. The greatest disappointment was yet to come. We ordered mixed seafood grill providing that the fish of the day was salmon. It was the main reason to order the platter as my hubby was craving a good salmon grill. They served (read told us) SEA BASS instead of salmon and I'm pretty sure that wasn't sea bass by any chance. Overall, I would never go in there again and would never recommend it to a friend. The staffs are lazy and it's near to impossible to get their attention. The bill came out to be nearly 50 pound!! with just two starters which are not worth mentioning and a soft drink and some special drink which tasted like sugared water. NEVER TRY THEM.
