I Love this Academy. Fortunate to be a part of these amazing dancers. Great to learn some of Mexican & Spain traditional dances.

If you're interested in experiencing moving art, you're in for a treat. Soulful, deep, beautiful and sensual, this dance company is a true feast for the senses and has been consistently that for decades. Be sure to check out John's Emmy award winning dance films such as "The Soul of Saturday Night" co-produced with world renowned arts and humanities producer John Menier on UCTV, as well. A true love story to San Diego

I normally don't like modern dance, but I went to go see "Shadow of Mercy" last weekend because my…read moregood pals Bernadette and Trystan were performing in it, and they hooked me for 2 for 1 tix for my wife and I. Thanks Friends! I was honestly blown away! Have I just been watching mediocre and "bad" modern dance this entire time? The partnering work of the 2nd and 3rd pieces blew me away...mental note to self: work on upper body strength! The rest of the choreography was smooth, wellconnected, athletic, and beautiful; wheras most modern dances I've seen typically looks as if the dancers just got jacked up on Redbull, E and acid, then tossed on stage to do whatever they feel like. The music was interesting and went well with the pieces and lighting; it was not the typical modern dance crazy tribal or gothic "churchy" music, both of which I can't stand. Unfortunately the last piece was "countryish" music, which did not fit with the rest of the show and seemed very out of place; good choreography wasted on a bad piece of music! Overall, I was very impressed with the entire presentation will definitely be back to see future Malashock shows...maybe even take modern classes after a 9 year haitus...

I love that my brain still thinks I can whip out fouettes, when in reality, I'm far from even 50% as flexible as I once was. But finding the right studio is about getting to have fun and dance. I attended a Jazz Funk class at Play Studio and it was so fun! I appreciated that the class was a challenge. This studio is suited for people with dance experience. While there are likely people here training to dance professionally, there are also people who are just here for fun. But, I like that the classes are at a level that create a challenge and keep your brain moving as you move through the choreo. I hate a boring class and this wasn't the least bit boring at all. The class moved quickly! The vibe was good and it feels like there's a nice community here. I love the variety of options they have and I'm excited to try a pom class next. The studio is located on the second floor of the building. Parking in the area is tough. Although the studio has a parking lot, there are very few spots. There are paid spots across the street, but it's tough to find a free spot, so leave yourself some time.

I can't even begin to describe how amazing and different I have felt since I started doing this. I have never felt more confident and more sexy. If you're looking for a cardio workout class, I don't think this is the right place for you. But if you want to find some sexy confidence and learn a few moves that you can actually use at some point (without having to buy a pole and have it installed in your house), I highly recommend classes with Resa. I also bought her DVDs which I found really helpful when it came to practicing on my own. Although I have yet to use any of my newly learned moves, I have certainly been taking advantage of the new found confidence! Living Social Classes: Striptease Moves and Ideas: This was my first class with Resa. It mostly focused on ways to feel sexy and confident and encouraging the use of the dance moves. We learned some of the basics like "the walk" and "the crawl." Lap Dance: I went to the class alone and most of the other women had a friend with them. I'm not sure if it's more or less awkward to practice on a stranger than a friend but it's worth being prepared. This class is probably the one I expect to use the most move from though I think I benefited the most from the first class because it made me start thinking about my sexuality. Striptease Using Wall Instead of Pole: This was my final class and I think it made a great closer. It was definitely the most physical of the three classes. It focused on using a wall or a doorway and just being sexy and sticking out your booty. One-on-One Classes: These were fantastic. They forced me to practice and I got a lot of feedback and advice on how I was moving, what I was planning on wearing and when in an evening is best to give your man a surprise dance. BJ/HJ Workshop: This would be a fantastic group activity for a ladies' night. I learned a lot and there was lots of fun laughter throughout the night. Videos: The videos are fantastic if you're like me and can't seem to remember anything for more than five minutes. I watched them whenever I was practicing and I think it really helped. Other classes that I look forward to taking include: Lap Dance using Chair, Striptease Floor Routines, Pole Fitness, Booty Shaking Yoga, and Exotic Pilates Other events: Sexy Women and Wine Night - a meet up at a local wine bar for women who attend Resa's classes and want to meet other women with common interest to talk about relationships, life, and, of course, wine.

The entire routine we learned was about 2 min long at best and most of it can be seen on her website on the opening page. There was not a lot of room to move around which is unfortunate when you are doing sexy, intimate moves with a bunch of strangers. I noticed a lot of promotions through living social which may explain the lack of availability/class times. The location is right around the corner from Gaslamp so parking may be difficult at times. ebyresa advises the option to park at Horton Plaza; I find that a bit inconvenient with the walk and navigating through the parking structure. I can see how this would be fun for a bunch of friends, like a bachelorette party. But for me as an individual it was just okay and I will not return. I prefer Fun Pole Fitness.
