We had a reservation at 7 pm and arrived at 7 pm They close at 8:30 We ordered about 10 different items when they came to take our order among the three of us. They brought three of those dishes and then told us the kitchen was closed. This is an old restaurant and everyone working there is a senior citizen. They just -ignored us -because they wanted to close early. I'll never go back and I will tell everyone not to go there. read more

It is about 3.6 stars. This restaurant is located in the historic district of Mexico City. I was here try to have their grilled pawn. But we end up have the package dinner set. I got local beer to start while waiting for the food. I feel the beer quantities is small throughout Europe. It start with fruit salad them heart of palm salad, fish soup, seafood paella, braised or grilled fish, flan to close. Tea and coffee is last item. Entire package is good deal. We came here last evening and we had a great experience here. This restaurant was easily missed, because the outside looks like any other biilding en el centro. There was no line por a crowd waiting outside for a table. However the momento that we walked in, we both realizado how popular this place really is. It Is definitely onnthe higuera end compares with the other restaurants that we visited. Allá of the employeed aré super profesionales and they allá wear actual suits. I wanted to go for the traditional type of seafood, which was the camarones grande with their palmera mixed with the house mayonesa sauce. These were si hige jumbo sized shrimp that were sauteed to perfection. She decided on the ostiones gratinados en su concha that included twelve pieces that were prepared with their special seafood sauce. For appetizers I ordered the sopa roja, and she got the sopa verde. We both ordered two capuchinos to sip on while we waited for our ordered. A great place for a special day or a fancy date. The place is old, founded around 1930's (1936) and still going strong. Used to be quite classy and it retains that aspect on the way the waiters and staff are dressed and the service. Originally a German restaurant was bought by a Basque family during the WWII. Best if you make a reservation. Weekend the place is packed and you will probably have to wait anywhere's from a few minutes to an hour. The seafood is fresh and quite tasty. The main thing to order are the langostinos. If you want to try a classic place with good food this place is a must. A tad expensive but well worth it. The place itself is simplistic and remains mostly unchanged since its opening. The walls are decorated with the opinions of famous people from Mexico and abroad. read more

I was perhaps the last diner of the night in this charming restaurant. The streets were already quiet at 8:30 when I was warmly welcomed. I had two ceviche appetizers - fish and octopus - that were quite tasty. A local white wine was a perfect complement for this wine snob. The entree was whole red snapper, garlic grilled. The fish was sublime. Rarely do you get whole fish that had the most wonderful flavor through and through - fish and a wonderful sense of garlic. Moist and wonderful. The meal was finished with a local smoky Mezcal. This is a real gem - mucho gracias! read more

How does one say yummy in espanol? Yo no se. This is a local hangout that specializes in seafood prepared in a Basque tradition. Though their menu is extensive, stick with (as the locals do) the grilled crawfish. What a garlicky treat!! And quite abundant. Compliment it with your favorite tequila and you're ready to take on the streets of Mexico City. read more

The room is charming in a dated way. There are restaurants in Zürich, Hamburg, New York and Chicago with a similar clubby charm. (You can imagine a Mexican Godfather being filmed here.) The row of waiters in crisp jackets adds to the atmosphere. The food is unexceptional, just a 3 star level. But atmosphere pushes the review to 4 stars. read more

The restaurant is historic since 1940? And was led to come due to picture of Broiled shrimp BUT don't order shrimp. Other fish/ seafood is fresh but the shrimp was already cooked so unless you are fluent enough to ask- it will be overcooked on the grill. The service is the reason for the stars. I had a bad feeling before entering this place. We were the only guests on a Saturday night and there were some tourists discussing going to another restaurant outside when we walked up. The service was good but the food was very bland and outrageously EXPENSIVE! My red snapper had no seasoning on it whatsoever. They charged $35 pesos for a small bottle of water. Yes that's correct, in Mexico. $2.69 usd for water in the United States is rare even in nicer restaurants. read more

The first time I came Danubio was with my grandparents when I was 6 years old and my best memory is the langostinos. 29 years later, Danubio has the best langostinos in Mexico City. They are a must. They could seem expensive (one order is approx 500 pesos) but are perfect to share between two or three. I like the atun tartara and the ostion soup. If you are looking for a traditional Spanish restaurant (there's lots of these in DF) this is the place. If you go on a weekday try the menu, around 7 dishes for 250 pesos, including two main courses. Great fishes and seafood and if you are visiting DF you can have lunch here and then walk through Centro Histórico. read more

Went here for dinner in a party of three. It has a real old-school vibe, like they picked their "nice decor" in the 1950s and never changed it. The wait-staff also seem to be on the older, more distinguished side, which gives it a touch of a throw-back feel. They were all very attentive and helpful. The food was lovely. We ordered the langostinos a la plancha con mantequilla on the recommendation of seemingly every review and guidebook ever, and were not disappointed. The other two main dishes were the camaron gigante al ajillo (basically gambas al ajillo as you'd find anywhere in Spain, but bigger shrimp) and the huachinango (red snapper) a la veracruzana. All of the were really good. The wine list was nice and we were able to find a good Mexican white to go with the food. We came here for an early dinner before the 8:30pm Ballet Folklorico and the other patrons at that time all seemed to be gringos doing the same thing. I'd recommend it for any time, but it did work very well as a pre-theater dinner! read more
