Dennis S., the owner of D&D, agreed to take on the job and he worked directly with my town's building inspector to come to agreement on the remediation and bring my basement up to code. When it made sense, Dennis brought in other contractors (electricians, plumbers, etc.) and I hired and paid them directly. At other times, Dennis' crew and subcontractors worked on aspects of the job. At all times, Dennis was personally involved. He kept me informed, coordinated the variety of personnel, and was the face of the project to the various town inspectors. Dennis was also very communicative on what he thought should be done in the remediation and flexible in taking my input. He also personally extended himself to be onsite and meet with the building inspector when I couldn't. I am very pwith the work that was done and my experience with Dennis, D&D, and the various contractors that worked on my basement. I felt that Dennis had my best interests at heart and I would happily use him and D&D for other projects. My shower remodel which should have taken 1-2 days to complete took over one year and required three separate attempts by the owner, Graciano Machado, (aka: Greg) and his workers to complete. To this day, l am unable to use the shower as it will require me to have it demoed and repaired. Throughout the process of having my shower completed, I had several issues to include, my shower walls coming apart on two separate occasions due to improper install, the grout not being properly applied, leaving several holes and cracks throughout, the glass sliding door not closing fully, and much more. But the biggest issue of all, was that, Greg Machado violated basic sanitary building standards by failing to install a cement backer board, which is a required material in the State of Massachusetts to prevent moisture damage and ensure proper waterproofing. He was well aware of this, but did not correct it. Despite giving multiple opportunities and addressing my concerns to Greg and his team, they were not able to complete my shower correctly. I was met by constant delays to have my shower repaired, and i was met with some dishonesty from Greg's behalf. As a result of these issues, I pursued legal action through small claims court and was awarded a judgment in my favor. The matter is still ongoing as I work to collect that judgment which has yet to be fulfilled. I have also noticed that other individuals including a business have also pursued legal action through small claims against Greg, his wife (co-owner) and his business. From my experience, I strongly advise others to exercise caution before hiring this contractor.
