I figured it would add a nice touch to our daughter's 6th birthday party and it was also a surprise for her. My daughter doesn't like cake, believe it or not, but she tried and really enjoyed this cake! I found Melanie here and immediately contacted her. I let her know the party was literally a week away. With all transparency, she let me know she was pretty busy, but would try to squeeze us in. I emailed her two photos of my vision for the Aladdin themed cake and Melanie ended up creating a gorgeous cake! Melanie was in constant communication about the details of the cake, which I appreciated. She also called me the day before the party and suggested we bring a serrated knife in order to cut optimal cake slices. She delivered the cake on time to Aerosports Trampoline Park in Murrieta. She left me written cutting directions, but as a courtesy, before she left she also explained how we should cut the cake for our guests. Initially, I was looking for a one layered cake to feed 25-30 people. In order for the cake to have a WOW factor Melanie suggested two layers (same cost, as cost is mostly determined by slice per person). Both layers of the cake were chocolate. The cake pictured was $320. Everyone raved about the design and taste, so it was well worth it. More importantly, my daughter was pleasantly surprised. Overall, Melanie is AMAZING! Melanie was professional from start to finish and her response time was almost immediate regardless of the time of day or night. She took into account my ideas, mixed that with her expertise, sprinkled lots of patience and delivered pure magic! I highly recommend Melanie for your unique baking needs.

We discovered the tall, young owner poised under his own pop-up at the tiny Sunday Farmers Market in the small community of Canyon Lakes (not too far east from Lake Elsinore). While he did not offer samples, his main attraction was his huge, gorgeous loaves of sourdough bread. Besides plain, there were flavored loaves. The one we chose was called peach sourdough and had cinnamon-spiced peaches baked into the dough. Once home, a nice thick slice of that went into our toaster, then buttered, for a complete decadent experience. It was a moist, beautifully textured, tender sourdough that made me giddy. If I closed my eyes, I thought it was more like a cinnamon roll or coffeecake, but not as sweet. Elegant. He also offered a Rosemary sourdough that I had to resist this time around. He had other savory flavors but I cannot recall at this moment, having been too severely seduced by the peach version. However, at our birthday party that evening, when I opened the custom box of buntinis we ordered, I discovered that there had been a mix-up and they had given me the wrong order. The party was already underway and it was late evening, so we consumed what we received. The next day I returned to the shop and told the young lady that came out to help me that I needed to speak to a manager. And that was how I met Carrie T, the store manager. I showed her a copy of my order and a list of what I actually received (with photos). She looked the order up, and confirmed it had been properly entered. We concluded that there had been an error in the packing process, and my order number had been affixed to the wrong box. Mistakes happen in even the most proficient operations. It is how you DEAL with these errors that distinguishes the best places to shop. Carrie gave me a complementary pumpkin spice Bundlet, placed a credit (good for 12 months) on my account, and thanked me for taking the time to return and let her know. That information, along with my documentation, was something she could share with her employees as a learning exercise to help prevent similar errors in the future.
