I recently purchased a 2010 Toyota Tundra pick up with 110k+ miles from Newman Chevrolet. The day…read moreafter my purchase, I took the truck to a Milwaukee Toyota dealership to have all of the recommended services brought up to date. During that process, the Toyota dealership 'found' the water pump to be leaking. Toyota's quote to replace the pump was $900+. I acquired an extended warranty from Newman (at the time of purchase) because the Toyota was out of warranty. Although the repair would have been covered by the warranty, the defective water pump was determined to be a pre-existing condition by the warranty company. Consequently, they refused to cover the repair cost. I contacted Peter Igel, my Newman sales consultant to express my displeasure and frustration with the situation. He, in turn, worked with Tony Pirlot, Newman's Truck Manager, to resolve the issue. Despite the fact that I purchased the truck without a Newman warranty, and further, that they had found no evidence of a defective pump at the time they did their safety inspection, Tony arranged to replace the water pump at no cost to me, even providing a loaner for use while the repair work was done. Tony and Peter provided satisfactory resolution to my problem. Their efforts exemplify great customer service.

I recently came to the end of my confidence in them as I had been waiting for a part to come in. I hadn't heard back from them in weeks so called and they noted the manufacturer canceled the order and I had to go directly to them for reorder. I asked why I was not informed of this and they said they left a message but I never received one. Just have no confidence that ever happened as I would have a message notification if it did. Just another example of lack of care and concern for follow through. I like to work with local businesses but do have an expectation of a minimum level of service and that they actually care about providing such.

Very helpful re a potential used car. Sent a video of it. No high pressure. Great info.read more

Sadly, I have to give one star. My son has a 2017 Ford escape. His transmission was slipping and a…read morewarning light came on in the dash that said it needed immediate attention. The car has 80k miles on it. I suggested that he take it to GB Ford in Thiensville to get an estimate. They told him it would be $190 for them to diagnose. Their estimate came back with multiple up-sales (which is to be expected). They told him that he needed a new transmission and with that including the up-sales the estimate was $9000! The itemization of the transmission replacement was never provided. I assume it was around $4000 because the up-sales were itemized and they added up to be almost $5000. Included in the estimate were four new tires, front end alignment, front and rear brake rotor and pad replacement (they indicated the rear brake pads were worn to less than 3mm which they were), and replacing the turbo charger among other things. They claimed they took a sample of the transmission fluid and determined that it was burnt and had metal in it. My son could not afford all these repairs. He asked me to pick the car up as he had to work. I paid $211 for the estimate and drove the car home. I decided to tackle the repairs myself. After draining and filtering the transmission fluid I discovered that the fluid did not have any metal in it. It did smell burned and the quantity was a little over a quart low. After draining and refilling the transmission fluid 3 times and bringing it to operating temperature each time it worked great. No more slipping or warnings. I replaced the rear brakes and when I went to change the front brakes I discovered the pads had more than 50% wear left so I did not replace them. The car is running and driving like it always has. My complaint is that GB Ford was more interested in up-selling than focusing on the transmission. Maybe they aren't willing to deal with repairing transmissions that might or might not have anything wrong with them other than needing a fluid flush. Beware of up-sales.
