Over the years I've had Myah, Melanie, Sofia and Carli who are all fantastic. No one is super pushy about buying the products (they often even give out samples if you're interested). As long as you can stay on a ~4 week schedule, getting a wax here is fairly painless. My latest wax with Carli FLEW by, I swear she had me in and out in 10 min for a bikini; and I barely felt a thing. Not to mention that she had me perfectly distracted and laughing the entire time! The lady who was waxing me was rude, very short with me, and made me feel so uncomfortable. When I say had an attitude I mean she literally acted like she hated me. Mind you, I showered before I got a wax to prevent that HA! Waxing is such an intimate experience and the vibes have to be welcoming and warm. She was ripping away at my skin and I finally decided "yea I'd rather get laser then come back here every two weeks to feel like a burden"... sucks because I liked this place but that one experience messed it up for me. I was already having a tough day that day and now the lady who waxes me hates me too no thanks. I've been getting laser since then.

The supposed manager Mario--after all that happened--had the audacity to rudely say to me, "Why don't you come to a salon and know what you want?" I said, "I was clear from the moment I came in: a layered hair cut with a light burgundy brown color. He was beyond rude and extremely phony. I initially went in for a consult and Mary the stylist said, "it looks like you've let an over texturized cut grow out--I can fix this she says--I barely texturize and...you need better coloring--some parts of your hair are way too dark." I agreed & came back for my appt. which she said would be $60-$80. I suggested we cut my clean hair dry so she could see my own natural waves. She insisted on dying it knowing I had grey roots. She didn't listen to any suggestions so wanting burgundy brownish color never happened. My roots turned out bozo the clown orange. We had a photo of a simple long layered shag style. She insisted on a quick cut, then blew it dry straight and thick and began hacking away and cut deep into it like a paper shredder or carrot peeler. The thing is I stopped her, but by then her innocent voice was, "No worries this will be great." I went to pay and it was $118 & the manager added the tip wrong and it was $148. The stylist after 3 hours of this procedure--spoke to me at a later date and agreed everything was wrong and that she--Mary--wasn't capable of the cut. So I stupidly agreed to at least let her calm down my roots. When I went back this turned out to be a nightmare like no other. The owner told her to dye my roots a color to match the overall color of my hair. The stylist and I both said no the color you picked has red tones and will make the roots worse--let's use medium brown. That was agreed but the stylist got scared of her boss and used the reddish brown and afterwards took me out in natural daylight on the street. She said, "Plz don't go home like this--you look worse--even more like a clown--on fire--plz let me fix this." I told her I think I should leave because your co-workers are starting to look at me weird as if this is my fault. She said who cares about them--I'm fixing it. Yet in Spanish which I understand--she told them she was dying my roots brown at my request. After she put the dye on my roots and my scalp was burning as now I was in the salon for 4 more hours--her co-worker told the stylist--" plz remove the color you put on this girl's head--you picked the wrong level of brown and it will look like black." Sure enough: blackish roots all over my hair and strands--and myself checking my hair--black stain all over my nails. They had nothing in the salon to remove it. So everything I came in for was a waste of 7 hours and it will take 3 months at least to grow out a horrifying, thinned all over choppy haircut. Sure I can blow dry it and make it nice. And sure two washes and the color will blend, but the money and time wasted can not be replaced. Mary knew I wanted an easy to go look. Wash and water no fuss--which only can happen with a professional cut. So ladies--avoid this salon. Also, her co-worker looked into my eyes a few times to let me know that the woman who said she could style and color me very well--didn't have the knowledge to be good at any of this and was seriously inexperienced. I have dated photos of all of this. Careless place that should not be allowed to operate like this. Mary seemed kind, but her ignorance at her job shows her true colors--pun intended.

I was looking for a place that could schedule me quickly to fix it and found this place for a next day appointment. Booking was super easy online and when I got there they took my temperature and had me wash my hands. I think Amanda was the girl that was doing my hair (I'm terrible with names sorry!) and did an amazing job fixing my hair! I love it SO much! She added some extra toner to the blonde too and gave me some tips if I were to try to attempt diy toning. I might just stick to the professionals though haha. This last time I went to good beauty for color and cut the stylist left me processing at the sink with my neck laying on a wet towel with chemicals and WITH IN hours my entire head and neck had broke out. I had to go to the emergency room to be seen with $1500 worth of medical bills for a chemical burn reaction. The owner acted as if she was going to have her Attorney reach out to me which she never did. Carla then stopped responding to any of my emails. I'm going to be taking them to small claims court to sue. I also filed a complaint reported them to the IDFPR agency. Did they give me a refund? The second time after completing my haircut the stylist gave me a receipt that said $15. I asked why since it's clearly advertised that all haircuts are $10. She said it was because my hair is long. She directed me to take it up with the cashier, who agreed and said long hair takes a long time to cut. My haircut literally took less than ten minutes since all I asked was a few inches to be trimmed off the bottom. Meanwhile there was another customer there when I arrived whose meticulous fade was ongoing and clearly much more time and labor-intensive than my haircut. But I imagine his haircut wasn't upcharged because his hair was short. I quit going to conventional salons because they would always charge women more for dubious reasons unrelated to the labor-intensiveness or time put into the haircut. I liked this one since they seemed to operate without that nonsense, but now it looks like they're using hair length to upcharge someone asking for a simple and quick haircut, while still falsely advertising a "$10 haircut." I won't be going back.

That's one of the more popular hairstyles in Logan Square for us younger Latina women. They also cater to men haircuts and kids as well. Great Place, I consider them my distant family.
