I had a very disappointing experience at Danny Chan Chiropractic. I arrived about 15 minutes late because I genuinely forgot about the appointment, and the front desk staff was already rude from the start. Even though they decided to still take me in, the entire interaction felt unprofessional. After filling out the paperwork, I mentioned I would be paying out of pocket. During a phone call I had with the office about 3 weeks earlier, I was told the visit would cost around $110-$120. However, the front desk suddenly told me it would be $200. When I explained what I had previously been told, instead of trying to help or clarify professionally, I was asked "what office did you call?" and told it was "maybe the coupon price." If that price was discussed before, it should have been honored or at least handled respectfully. Instead, I was basically given an ultimatum: either continue with the appointment at the higher price or cancel. I chose to cancel. I was just treated by Dr. Wong for neck and shoulder pain. I have a total of 3 Chiropractors I'm seeing right now and Dr. Wong's "style" of cracking my neck and back is way different than the other two. She also takes her time than the other two. I will now stop going to the other two Chiro and stick with Dr. Wong. I thought I have found the one with the first Chiropractor but was wrong. Dr. Wong is the one. Bonus- her clinic is 5-10 mins away from my house and does accept my insurance which is a huge PLUS!!! I got just adjusted by the first Chiropractor last Wednesday, and Dr. Wong still cracked my back like it was my first time. It was more intense but felt good afterwards. Saw Dr. Wong after not seeing a chiropractor for over 3 years, she did an diagnostic to see how things were "stacking" up and did some muscle relaxers before seeing me. The relaxers were similar to what you get when you see an acupuncturist but without the needles. Afterwards they put some cream on it to numb it/relax it a little more. Then, the big finale comes in when Dr. Wong goes in and gives you a good cracking! I swear I felt electricity shooting through my arms as all those built up years came tumbling down! For some people, a tens unit, heat pad, and a couple of adjustments might do the trick, but I need a practice that offers an array of modalities than just that. This might be enough for you, but it wasn't working for me, so I switched to another Chiropractor's office. Justina and Danny are friendly, but they can be slightly judgmental at times. I'm not going into your office for a pep talk, and I can take constructive criticism, but if I'm telling you that I'm not getting any relief from our visits, don't dismiss my discomfort by saying I'll see you in a couple of days like you don't want to deal with it. To keep up with the theme of the office, I overheard one of the front staff (a petite girl) going on about another client and the never-ending new-onset complaints every appointment. Does this have something to do with the morale in the office? Maybe! There's another front office girl, a slightly heavier set (sorry), that seems genuinely kind and attentive. She always greets you with a smile regardless of what's happening. She's excluded from the negative review as I've never noticed her participate in the office idle gossip. Initially, our visits started around 30 minutes, but now I'm in and out of the office in 15 minutes, and I don't feel any better. At some point, you have to choose your health over appeasing a business/someone out of embarrassment or politeness. Great experience with Dr. Chan and the rest of the staff. For first timers: GPS (google maps) will tell you it's on the main street but it's on the other side of the block. Head towards the mr pickles, city hall & dmv area. There's a parking lot shared with the Hilton hotel. Felt clean, approachable, and worth the time. Dr. Chan used a conservative approach with my Achilles and anything related to that chain. He used that a same approach for my fiancé with the shoulder, neck and back. Neither of us felt like our sessions were being stretched, which we had experienced before from a different business. Dr. Chan also gave us tips regarding stretches, exercises and other strategies to mitigate/prevent the pain. I think one highlighted comment was how personable the staff were. A week ago I could barely walk, my S1 joint was locked and my right hip was rotated forward. It was the most painful physical experience I've ever had in my life. He was able to schedule me in right away (literally the next day from when I called), they are following social distancing protocols and protection in the office to the T. The first time I visited him he examined me and knew what to do right away, I felt immediate relief and release of pressure from my injured area. I have visited him 4 times since then and its a miracle, I can walk! and am almost fully aligned! Dr. Danny Chan is hospitable, easy to talk to, and friendly. He gave me great tips and plan to heal my lower back pain, muscle pain, and S1 joint pain. He and his staff are super efficient and great communicators. I have been coming to Danny for a couple of months now just for regular re-alignments. From my very first visit, he was able to determine the areas on my body that were affected by tightness/lack of mobility prior to even getting to work. Although each session feels very quick, Danny is effective with his work and I always leave feeling rejuvenated. I have chronic back and neck pain from WFH. I've been going here for a year now. Justina takes care of me and was very thorough. She also showed me some exercises and stretches. Chiropractors here may be very good but their front office is either very poorly run or just very disorganized. They lost me as a potential customer due to this. I've been going to Dr. Danny Chan for almost a year now. I first came to Dr. Chan after being fed up with my back pain from my job. My lower back would ache for days on end, with painkillers and topical pain relievers doing very little to mitigate to pain. On my first consultation, Dr. Chan walked me through the anatomy of the spine, as well as my body configuration to diagnose why I was feeling my pain. After my first consultation and adjustment, I knew Dr. Chan was someone who cared about his patients' health. He assured me that after a month of weekly visits, I should be feeling better and he was right! After a month's worth of weekly visits, we gradually moved to bi-weekly visits. Now, I can go a few weeks before needing to see Dr. Chan. While I don't feel as much pain in my back as when I first visited him, I still visit him once a month as a preventative measure. His front desk assistants are also very nice and accommodating, especially when I have last minute scheduling changes. Lately, I've had adjustments from Dr. Justina Wong, and she's just as awesome as Dr. Chan! Now, I recommend both Docs to all my coworkers and family who have any type of back pain! read more

Do I ever write reviews on anything other than restaurants? RARELY. So if you see something out of the ordinary like this, it must be EXTRAORDINARY. That perfectly describes Dr. Chan and his office. (Background: feel free to skip) Had extreme back pain, to the point when I had trouble moving, during a final and my professor/school doc sent me to the ER. BODY, HOW DARE YOU STRIKE DURING MY PRACTICAL.. I WANTED AN A NOT AN 86%.... -super angry still- Anyway, emailed Dr. Chan about my situation and he squeezed me right in the next day.. two hours before his office was even open to adjust to my schedule. HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! He then diagnosed the problem and explained to me what he saw. He then proceeded with day 1 of therapy and it went from there. Very professional and almost felt 80% cured of my problem just that day. Came back for a followup that week and he fixed the problem almost completely. Staff were also quite friendly, although the front desk placed the impulse pads on the second day which gave me extreme pain the entire 15 min, tried to call someone but I don't think they heard me (would have -1 star had it not been the gracious accommodations). Dr. Chan then came in to readjust my back and neck. Been sleeping quite well ever since. NEED A CHIROPRACTOR? LOOK NO FURTHER. I've never been to one before but I think they are pretty affordable? Broke college student here, WITH NO INSURANCE, so it means something right? Plenty of parking as they have a parking lot of their own behind the building. I left a couple messages on both of the locations numbers and within an hour Dr. Chan called me directly and we spoke about what's going on with me. It was already almost 6pm that day and he said he could see me at the Daly City location first thing in the morning 8:30am. I was so relieved since I really needed to see someone as soon as possible. Since I started working almost 4 weeks ago in the FiDi, my back pain has become a daily problem. It worsened in the last week and has extended to my neck with almost unbearable pain that Ibuprofen has not helped with. I saw Dr. Chan yesterday morning and I feel so much better. His rates are also so much lower than the three other DOC's I've been to. I am going back again soon for a follow up. I am not very familiar with chiropractic but OMG when Dr.Wong was done with me I felt much lighter in the sense of my neck & body movements just after the first visit.I have a pinched nerve that has sharp pains all the way to the right arm.I know it's not a one time visit and all fixed, but I definitely will be doing this more often even just for posture maintenance at least once every month.The office is clean and modern looking and the girls in the front desk are wonderful! I hate to break up the 5-star party here, but I'll offer a slightly different perspective based on many visits. I've had a lot of Chiropractic over the years, and I'd put Dr Chan a bit over average. Saw him after a miserable auto accident, so this is from a continuing treatment angle. Where he excels is in keeping a clean office with pretty good and friendly staff that mostly follow up. He is personable and does take some time to talk with you, but not much. Some communication errors and failure to follow through on things he said he would do, but that may be due to the lack of note taking and running on to the next patient rather than syncing up with his staff while it's fresh on his mind. Where I felt less than satisfied was that the pace in this place is really quick and felt like kind of a treatment mill. Routine is you check in, they bring you to a small office and throw electrodes on the areas he will be treating (with various levels of competency). A little while later it beeps and someone takes the electrodes off, doctor comes in and very briefly talks and feels your situation. About a minute or two of cracking and he's done, slight small talk and he's off to the next room. Recovering from an auto accident can be rough, and it always bothered me that he didn't take notes nor explain much about a treatment plan or my injuries and prognosis. He does seem to have a good handle on body manipulation and was nearly always in tune and didn't cause much pain. But maybe it's the economics of running an office like this that they have gone to a model of really abbreviated treatment with little discussion and some padding of time with the electro-stim in order to make it feel like you got more out of it. Started with an x-ray but no x-ray when treatment ended. I'd probably use him again for a quick adjustment but with an ongoing injury I'd search out someone who puts in more time with patients and demonstrates a deeper level of attention to nurturing and guiding the longer-term process of healing. My favorite doctors have a Rolodex of appropriate referrals to places like physical therapy, massage, etc. that would assist the healing process. Different business models, both Sizzler and Ruth Chris sell steaks, and each is appropriate depending on specific data points. For a quick adjustment I believe Dr. Chan is fine. read more

Early last year he said I really didn't need chiropractic care after a month of adjustments -- that is honesty and not trying to sell me on care. Great service, Danny is super friendly and fixed my lower back in just a few sessions, when I first started going to him a few years ago. A couple month ago, I resumed treatment after tweaking my back working out and was delighted to find out he still remembers me. Dr Chan is a very personable doctor, he listens to your concerns and seems to always think in terms of functional treatment. From my three appointments with him, he's displayed a decent amount of knowledge. However, during my visits I've noticed he does not take notes. He mentions that he'll follow up with me to see how the treatment is moving along, but I suspect he cannot properly evaluate progress without reviewing observations from previous visits. While Dr Chan is a very reputable doctor, I feel that my time is always limited with him. I allot half an hour with him, but he seems to always be dealing with multiple patients at the same time, thus leaving me to the same cycle of electrical stimulation for 85% of my time, 5% of spinal adjusting, and 10% of talking. I was not satisfied with a lack of follow up in terms of post treatment education. There was no instruction of exercises that could be performed outside of the clinic to aid in my healing. Rather, he simply told me that he would see me at my next visit. TLDR: For a quick spinal adjustment, Dr. Chan can get the job done. But if you are serious about your body and want to function at a high level, his practice may not be your best bet. read more

So today (6/12/2021) was my first visit here. I am super thankful they have Saturdays open! This place used to be a youth center that I used to go to when I was a teen. It's super clean and brand new! I've had experienced chiropractic adjustments about 3 years ago because of worker's comp but I wasn't satisfied with the service so I was looking for a new place and Danny Chan chiropractics happened to be close by. I had emailed them prior to making an appointment inquiring about their services and hours and they were able to get me a Saturday appointment which was a relief! They also sent email reminders to remind me of my appointment because I am a forgetful person so that helped! I got to the location, right away I was greeted by Carlie (spelling? Sorry if I spelled it wrong). She was super friendly and she let me know acupuncture and massage therapy was covered under my insurance also so I was happy about that! I filled out some forms and Carlie led me to the exam room and I waited a few minutes for Justina who was the one that examined me thoroughly and let me know what was going on with my body. Before that, she asked questions about my history. She was this tiny little lady and she amazed me and literally she was able to adjust me! Before that, Carlie set me up with the electrical machine which I am a big fan of! It's so relaxing to feel on my back and shoulders. Thank you for not making me feel like a complete freak when my nose started bleeding. It really is the dryness in the air, not anything else... ------------------- Several years ago [before my Yelping days - yes, imagine that!], I had gone in to see Dr. Allen after finding the Allen & Chan practice on the list of approved chiropractors for my health insurance. I checked online for a website, read up on their background info, and checked their hours. The keys to becoming my medical professional are, aside from webpage snazzyness, insurance coverage and flexibility. I found them through my insurance site, AND they have flexible hours - open Saturday mornings and early or late upon request! I saw Dr. Allen for a few months after my initial appointment. I definitely took advantage of the Saturday and evening appointments. My neck and back had given me problems for quite some time - being tall and slouchy, and working on the computer all day long probably didn't help. I remember getting massages [I LOVE, LOVE, LOOVE massages!] and getting comments about my back/shoulders/neck area being way too knotted up for someone my age. Even the blind masseur in China told me so! Lots of neck/back work to be done, but I stopped going because I had other medical expenses to deal with. I wasn't planning to spend more than what I'd allotted to my flexible spending account! Dr. Allen had moved to Canada with his wife and newborn baby. When I called in, Dr. Chan answered the phone and made the appointment for the same day! So the verdict? Inflammation of muscles. It's nothing too serious, thankfully. Dr. Chan took x-rays just in case. Then after some muscle stimulation [They hook you up to this machine that makes you twitch like crazy if the setting is too high...], ultrasound treatment and alignment, I was out the door and feeling MUCH better. I'll take the twitching and burning sensation over the tightness and discomfort in the morning. A year and a half and a car accident later, I went back to this office instead of going to some other. They had always been professional and friendly. A very clean office too! Lots of magazines to read while you wait [you rarely wait]. I know I have been here more than 2 times... I've been here at least 20 times!!! I love Danny, I have referred so many people to him. There is a lot of parking and I am happy every time I visit... Whenever I have an ache anywhere, I book my appointment right away or even the same day and they will always accommodate me. You go in and do a 15 min electric thingy on the places you're hurting. Then when the machine beeps, Danny comes in and turns off the machine and he starts cracking your back and everywhere, but at the same time, he's talking to you about everything and anything. We usually talk about cars and disneyland or disneyworld, for me, the scariest part is when he cracks my neck, but he's always talking to me so it's soothing. My coworker who I referred has a niece and had neck pain for awhile and she's already went to a chiropractor and it didn't help. Ever since my foot fiasco I have relied on weekly chiropractic adjustments to keep myself moving as well as possible. When I moved to SF from Oakland I had to find a new chiropractor that did full body adjustments - with so many offices I didn't know where to begin. Tinna H. recommended Dr. Chan but I was skeptical because he looked so young. After trying out a different chiropractor who was horrible I called Dr. Chan's office. I started asking questions about treatments and Dr. Chan got on the phone himself to chat with me. I was super impressed he spent so much time addressing my concerns before an appointment. I was more impressed after my first visit; Dr. Chan identified several issues due to my foot and came up with a realistic treatment plan. He spent as much time as was necessary to address any concerns each appointment. He didn't make me get x-rays or try to sell me any products. He does treat the full body with many different modalities - his knowledge base was quite impressive, and if he didn't know something he would research it before my next visit. With insurance my visits only cost me about $5 out of pocket. The office is easy to find, close to Daly City BART and plenty of free parking in the back lot.
