I had to write my first food review because of how disappointing this restaurant was. After over an hour wait, our family could not eat any of our food. The nachos and pizza was inedible. The wings were fine. Both bathrooms were completely trashed, didn't have any toilet paper, and were disgusting. There was no service so it took asking over and over for our food to even come out- when it did we had to carry it to the table ourselves. There was only one other table of customers, so they were not busy - the workers were simply not doing anything besides blaring bad music. This is opposite of other reviews so I'm not sure what happened, but I have never had this bad of a restaurant experience and I would never come here again. read more

Just okay. This is in the heart of Notre Dame but if you aren't a student that lives in the area it's pretty difficult to get to as parking is pretty much non-existent in the area. I ran inside to ask someone if they knew where we could park since we were from out of town- and the bartender told me to park in the residential lots and hope for the best. We ended up doing that and were fine, but something to consider if you don't want to take that risk. We tried 4 different beers. 1 was good, 1 was okay, the other 2 weren't good at all. Also we were hoping to get food but they close their kitchen much earlier than the bar closes. They do have a outdoor patio that is dog friendly. Overall, definitely more of a college bar than a brewery! read more

Came here while visiting from our of town. Used google maps and it's hard to find as it's nestled in between the college apartments. It does have a Lu garage parking area and the building is fairly new. Nice patio located on the side with plenty of tables. Inside was clean. You order at the bar and then go find you a table to sit at. They do have a C small menu to order from and it's per typical bar food. I'm assuming most of its frozen An bed cooked in oven, microwave it fryer. I ordered one of their pizzas the margarite pizza. It's 10" thin crust and it's def frozen and they add whatever toppings you want or pizza you order and bake it. It wasn't good. Lacked flavor, spice and fresh ingredients. K tomatoes came from a jar and the basil was freeze dried. The cheese was mozzerella shredded. The only thing good was it was served nice and hot. I didn't finish it cause it was horrible. W I I food order I B went out to my car and saw the cook in the parking lot smoking a joint. It reeked of pot. Soo I figured my god wouldn't be fantastic. I wouldn't order food from them again. However, I ordered their Mexicali beer and it was delish. A light beer with a malty aftertone. Sort of reminded me of drinking a Mickeys when I was young. We recently checked out this place for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. It can be a little tricky to find if you aren't familiar with the area since it's the lower level of student housing and the parking is behind the building (signage along Twyckenham would be helpful!). We walked in to an empty place and grabbed a seat at the bar. It was a little awkward considering there were more employees than patrons. They do have a family-friendly seating area and offer some great daily specials. We started with a flight to try some of their beers, but really weren't impressed. Luckily they have some other crafts on tap and we went with Elysian Space Dust for our pints. They offer $5 pizzas on Sundays and we were impressed with the ones we selected. I'm sure they will do just fine with the captive audience of students in the area. read more

Danny Boy has really good vibes for a casual drink. The options on tap are all really good and their menu of appetizers and pizza provides decent choices for food. Sometimes it can be a bit crowded, and the space is not really optimized for a crowd. When it's at a normal capacity, however, Danny Boy is a good time. read more

It's a strange little pub in the midst of a residential apartment complex, which makes it hard to find, challenging to find parking at, and awkward to walk to. With that said though, it is near the heart of Notre Dame and college life, so I expect that during better weather and on the weekend, it would be packed. Trying to have a sports bar theme, this micro serves up some fairly tasty beers and offers a cooler where one could purchase something that isn't on tap that day. We didn't eat, but the smells coming from the kitchen were nice and I thought about having something anyway...but I minded my diet and did not. I believe that we would go back and try again if we were in the area because the staff was friendly and there were other beers on tap that we didn't get a chance to try. read more

I've been here many times on all days of the week. It's especially busy after football games but there's usually a casual crowd regardless. The beer is moderately priced and very good. I like how they have a bunch of rotating taps so there are different ones to try most of the time. The food here is actually much better than you'd expect from a typical brewpub. They have primarily pizzas and sandwiches, and I've now tried about half the menu and everything has been great! The atmosphere in the place is chill and there are a large variety of different crowds here - students, faculty, locals, etc. The staff are very friendly and respectful. This has become one of my go-to spots for a beer and/or a meal when I am near ND. read more

This was a tough spot to find. We nearby gave up after navigation on two occasions saying I had arrived and the destination was on the right. At that very moment all the that was visibe was a huge apartment complex with option to to right. Headed down the road and circled back to the same result. It was dark and drizzling so I took one last pass on a road on block over. Same result with the huge apartment. Opted to pull in and saw very small signage for the location. This place is actually in the apartment complex that appears to cater to ND students who paid their dues of living three years on campus. The interior was nice, plenty of televisions and a combination oh high and low tables. In any event we found the our rather obscure destination. They serve their beer as well as guest beers and a variety of spirits. We settled in on a round of beers after a little tasting and our very friendly and sweaty waitress, on her second day, brought us our first round. I opted to try their beer, it was decent enough but not something particularly memorable. We opted for some food and ordered some popcorn shrimp and a couple pizzas. They hit the spot to appease the hunger but nothing was particularly tasty. The popcorn shrimp were apparently made in an air fryer. Interesting and tasty enough, but again nothing all that special. The pizza were on a very thin crispy crust and had ample toppings but again nothing remarkable. It was then it struck me they are catering to their neighboring audience of college kids. Keeping the food very simple and approachable. Prices were fair, staff was friendly, with the exception of the obnoxious manager. All in all a good stop for a light bite and a couple beers but nothing I would seek out to repeat when in the area. read more

Only reason I'm giving this 1 star was the decor. Very small beer selection. Microwaved food. One person working and he didn't have on a mask at any point and had what I would describe as a poor attitude. Could explain why we were the only table in there on a Friday night. My buddy and I stopped by last night while awaiting the start of the UNC/Notre Dame basketball game. The owner and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, I appreciated it immensely as I was rooting for the Tar Heels. This place had the best chicken wings I've eaten in my life. They were crispy, juicy, and the wing sauce was spot-on. Based on the wings, fries, and chips I wish I had the time to sample more of their delicious fare. Slow, inattentive service. Didn't much care for the atmosphere either. It was so hot, and decor is unimaginative. Took forever to get a drink and food took it's time too. Had a feeling the order didn't go in until we had to go to the bar to check on it. Miss the previous restaurant that was there, but it lost quality in it's food and service over time too. Great staff, solid beer, great pizza. We stopped by Danny Boy for the Temple v. ND home football weekend and were blown away. First off, they had guys playing bagpipes on the sidewalk! Talk about setting the stage. My friends and I each had a couple of pints, and were impressed by the quality and variety of the beers offered. We ordered pizza (can't recall the exact type, but it was listed as one of their favorites - a spicy italian sausage with some kind of spicy sauce...excellent!) and hung out for a bit at the bar. Never had to wait for a beer, and the pizza didn't take too long - considering it was the ND home football opener, we were prepared for it to be quite a wait. It wasn't. The bartender was attentive and took great care of us. Bottom line, we'll be back! Edit: It bears mention that this is one of the only breweries in the area that is 'kid friendly' and really means it. We saw some friends in the non-bar section striking up a rousing game of 'Uno' with their children while they waited for their food! read more

We just got to this area and decided to try this spot out. We had Matt as our server and he was attentive and helpful. He made our experience great! The owner was also there and made a point to make us feel welcome and appreciated. Truly one of the best costumer experiences we've had in awhile and a great environment! It's so nice having Danny Boy nearby! We got two different kinds of pizza, wings, and tried a couple of beers. The food was good -- very fresh (possibly baked?) buffalo wings were a great start and I also liked the pizzas. I don't tend to love thin crust, but this was pretty good! We tried a Sour Patch Kids beer and it tasted nothing like a sour beer, but was unoffensive. The Miss Ginger Witte beer was also just okay. This place gets extra points for how well it is set up for students to come in and even work at one of the tables. Overall, the food is solid and the atmosphere is nice, but I'm not sold yet on the beer. read more

This bar is small and in the heart of Notre Dane, but don't turn it away because of "college students." There weren't many when I went (a Thursday) and it was a great experience. The food was good and the drinks were even better. The manager was friendly and amazing at making sure everyone was okay. Completely empty at 5:30 on a summer night. Staff was very attentive and friendly. The clubhouse pizza is excellent, although a bit messy so wouldn't recommend if you're trying to not eat like a savage. Has some board games and outdoor seating, so good for groups to hang out. Love their food! In my opinion, the wings are the best in town (done in an air fryer so the food is not greasy!) and if you like spicy, you have to try the Korean sauce for dipping!! While I'm not a huge fan of beer, I can recognize the wide variety of their own beers that they serve. I would rather have a cider, but typically they only have one option of cider. They often have Ciderboys brand of cider, some of which have too artificial of a flavor. Danny Boy did recently expand their drink menu with several signature cocktails, which rounds out their menu. The staff here is very friendly and they know many of their regular customers. There are a lot of activities for everyone (even families!) from board games to cornhole, especially in the summer months. While the inside is pretty small, they do have a couple of tables on the patio for additional seating. Occasionally, they will have themed specials for special events (e.g. Kentucky Derby). They have many unique pizzas that are all really good. Although, they cut them into squares, so you have one awkward piece in the center with no crust... While it's not the cheapest place in town to get a sandwich and a beer, they do have many rotating specials that usually knock your bill down a few bucks. Came in to spend a gift card from Christmas, and sat at a dirty table for 15 minutes without someone stopping by. Also wanted to sit at a booth, but the only one available was occupied by staff rolling silverware as no other tables were free. Tried to give them the benefit of the doubt since it was game day, but three staff stood around us for a while gossiping at a nearby terminal without recognizing people sitting at a dirty table. We stopped by this bar on a pretty quiet weekend while in town for a friend's wedding, and had some time to burn between events. The craft beer selection was fantastic, we were able to catch two simultaneous football games on the TVs, and the kitchen menu was being overhauled, so we had the rare chance to sample some of the new ciabatta sandwiches the owner was trying out (which were bomb!). She made messes that she didn't clean, she interrupted conversations, and she didn't get drinks that were ordered. I will not be returning to Danny Boy because of her and her terrible service! Danny boy is a great place for some cheap food and good beer. It is relatively unknown and despite its proximity to Notre Dame's campus, there aren't often a lot of students to be found. It is laid back and relaxing and every Tuesday there is trivia. It's pretty new, but quickly has become my favorite bar near Notre Dame. read more
