My son has been playing at Danny Berry Baseball for two years now and I can attest to the fact that not only has he learned to be a better player in terms of his basic skill set, he has also learned the "heart" of baseball; how to will with grace and lose with class, how to cheer on his teammates, and how to play hard on the field and be friends with the members of the other teams afterwards. I don't know of any other program that instills sportsmanship as well as Danny Berry does. Starting at age 3, boys and girls can sign up for Danny Berry. In the Spring there's Little League and in the Fall there's travel league. Over the summer, Danny Berry also runs a baseball camp (which includes other sports and swimming). Danny Berry also can provide private baseball lessons if you would prefer. Located just behind the Alper JCC campus, the fields are well appointed, with lights that come on in the evening, and Danny Berry has batting cages as well for practice. The coaches at Danny Berry are top-notch. They are quick to praise a child for getting something right, even if they don't master the skill ("great hustle!" "good swing!") but they don't sugar coat it when a child doesn't live up to his own potential ("where were you? Why weren't you backing your teammate up? Keep your eye on the ball!") I particularly appreciate the emphasis the coaches put on each child's effort. It is a maxim of baseball that you can't make every hit, catch every ball, or win every game, but you can try every time. When a child is trying his hardest, he will be singled out by the coach as an exceptional player. Or as one coach put it about my son, "he didn't catch any of the fly balls today, but he's going to keep trying, and pretty soon he's going to catch every single one of them because he never gives up practicing it." Several months later, my son does indeed catch every single fly ball - with a practiced ease that comes from endless drills. If your child is interested in baseball, I highly recommend giving Danny Berry a try. The program will inspire an ongoing interest and love of the sport as well as delivering a fantastic skill set that will be drawn upon for as long as your child plays sports. Of Note: Danny Berry also offers baseball parties. The children play for an hour and then eat for an hour. Also of Note: Danny Berry has a food truck on the premises. It is not fancy by any stretch, but it is GLATT KOSHER (meat). Chicken nuggets, hot dogs, burgers and fries are all available, as well as peanuts and cracker jack!

My daughter played with Danny Berry through an after school program and all summer kept asking if she could go to real baseball with Danny Berry. So how could I not sign her up. Just in these first few weeks I have seen a sense of pride and discipline in My daughter that I owe to Danny Berry and all of his coaches. The coaches that Danny hires are amazing and have huge patience levels. I am proud to say my daughter is a baseball player for Danny Berry Baseball. 'It's always a great day for baseball'.

Separate playground areas for age groups. Toddler play area consists of several obstacles, slides and swings. The larger kids area has a wide range of playsets including swings, slides, rocks to climb, and a large spinning climbing "tree". There's also plenty of benches and a covered seating area that offers shade. 2. Nice sized skatepark which has recently been painted. 3. Nice sized indoor shelter to host birthday parties. By 2013 it was one of seven parks in the area found to be contaminated by heavy metals from the old West Grove incinerator closed in 1970. Residents called it Old Smokey for the thick clouds of dark smoke it bellowed for half a century. Douglas Park was closed for three years to remove antimony, arsenic, barium, copper, iron, and lead from the soil. Miami spent eleven million dollars to decontaminate the parks. To clean Douglas Park the top layers of soil containing heavy metals were excavated and removed and then a protective lining: was installed to prevent any remaining contaminants from reaching the groundwater. Clean soil was then added to the top. Douglas Park reopened on June 29, 2017 and today it is a thriving green space enjoyed by members of the community. I enjoyed the walking trail and the Christmas tree already set up in the park. Other park amenities include a baseball field where there was a game taking place, basketball court, large covered outdoor gym, covered picnic pavilion, a large newly renovated fenced in playground, tennis courts, and a very nice dog park. There is large amounts of open space for play and practice. The wide range of amenities draws crowds and if there is one down side it is that parking spaces are tight and rather limited.

The park also has teqball tables which is a new sport to me. Teqball uses a table that looks like table tennis but instead is curved. The sport combining table tennis and football was invented in 2014 by Hungarians: Gabor Borsanyi and Viktor Huszar. Borsnyi was injured playing soccer and wanted to find a less aggressive sport. Today soccer players use it for supplemental training. It has become one of the fastest growing sports in the world. After less than 10 years, more than 100 countries already have their own teqball associations. I really loved my visit to Hammocks Community Park. From the parking lot it doesn't look like much but I picked up the pathway that goes past the playground and sports fields to the back of the park where it runs next to a scenic lake. There are large trees in the back of the park offering shade and shelter to wildlife. For anyone looking for more exercise, you can pick up the 7.3 mile Hammocks Lakes Loop at the entrance to Hammocks Community Park. The paved trail winds around the lake and apartment complexes. It is ideal for birding, walking, running, bike riding, and dog walking.
